Fuckin incredible set list minus the last encore. They mailed it in.... scratch a couple hard hitting fan favorites to please a crowd of people who could care less about hitting the road to see the greatest live act around. All around a 4.2/5 solely because the last encore. The same band that plays past curfew every time they play wrigley mails it in at the end and scratch’s songs off their original set just to adhere to “wrigleyville rules” I call bullshit. I’ve been to 8 shows now,  and that could’ve been the best had they not cut several songs short and scratched even more from their set that would’ve easily completed a very dynamic show. Not to mention this was the shortest show of all US shows...

  • Show 34, first show in 92. I loved the ride tonight! The Sky, the Moon, the planets on display, so many memories. New songs checked off, the Tom Petty guitar, Gleason backstage, the Mike Solos!

And my very first tambourine! Thank you Ed!
A forever memory, and thank you to a kind stranger who captured my memory.

Thank you Pearl Jam, thank you 10c!

I will report more in depth. But in my hotel room after the show. This was my 50th show, thinking im getting older.. yet seeing them better than ever. I know they are playing less, but to hear them over a twenty year period to all those unlucky to have yet seen them, they sound top notch. [Name calling removed. See the rules please] Just like the guy that had the pussy sign to Ed tonight, I will establish that for you. Ed mentioned trying to have one of the best shows of all time, and no matter what thats what they tried to do and it was a top 10 show. Analyze, check all of your systems on each song, and listen to each with Ed's banter and then tell me what you think.

Great crowd! Thank you everyone. Love Pearl Jam. Love all of you. Get to a show if your on the fence. This band is priceless at this point. We stopped at Rock n Roll Hall before getting to Chi-town. What this band is doing at this point in their career, and their relationship with fans plus giving back to communities. Count me lucky to have this experience. Tom Petty cover was worth price of admission alone. Then add in Rebel, Rebel, and Leaving Here early in set. Are you kidding? Not For You was fiery, you could tell it was business to start the night. Jeff Had a big black Hat on to start the show. Was great to hear him Solo extensively early in the show. Cant Deny Me sounds much much better Live than on studio. Has a cool vibe, kinda like Getaway.

The fan that stole Home tonight stole the show according to my friend that went as a first timer! How about that. Guy runs on field and gets down some base path as Babe Ruth. Nice Slide!

Couldn't ask for more. Will clarify on any song if you are curious as to how it sounds or length or whatever. Cheers!

Some of the songs they played are some of the best in their catalogue - Wash, Breath, Alone, Footsteps, etc.  I would have loved to hear those live in one night, as opposed to being disappointed lol

You do realize they slso ADDED SONGS, right? Almost as many adds as scrstch offs. So in terms of length, can't really say they scrstched off to adhere to rules.

  • To no one specific, if you didn’t like this setlist it might be time to stop going to shows. Your expectations are way too high at this point.

Agree...as I posted in another thread...what makes this band so great  is often the songs they don’t get to play.

A sign in the crowd said “pay BRY you Evanston pussy”

and Ed called him an “educationallly challenged fuck wad”. Lol it was pretty funny.

I would’ve loved to hear all of the songs scratched but we got a priceless and killer set. We focus on what didn’t get played and not what did....this is the tightest I’ve seen them in awhile. And at the end of the day it was fun. So fun. I think in 16, I finally quit waiting out a song for something better and just enjoyed the moment. Aka - leading to love Evenflow live and I have so much more fun.

  • I thought it was a throughly weird and wonderful show. My 16th show since 1998, but the very first for my girlfriend. She loved it, but probably got sick of me saying  things like “well this is rare” or “wow, didn’t see that one coming.”  I think it’s a show like this that proves Pearl Jam’s continuing ability to defy expectations and surprise fans. And almost exactly 3 hours! Fucking incredible.

Highlight (for me) was the entire second set. Just beautifully crafted music. Especially Footsteps, Breath and SOLAT.  Best live Breath I’ve ever heard.

As for emotional moments: the Tom Petty guitar, Steve Gleason in the wings, and the person holding the sign that said something like “Remembering My Betterman 1972-2018.”

And maybe I read the situation wrong, but I thought Eddie was just having fun with the guy with the “Play BRY you Evanston pussy” sign. In other words, I don’t think Ed was genuinely angry. I felt it was just two dudes from different neighborhoods fucking with each other. I kinda thought Ed got a kick out of the sign, as it was so ridiculous.

My girlfriend and I flew in for these shows, and so far we are elated and have no regrets. As a newcomer to the Pearl Jam scene, she was amazed at how friendly and supportive everyone was. She kept remarking how no one ever shoved or did anything aggressive, and everyone seemed deliriously happy.

Final note: on the walk out of the stadium, we struck up a conversation with a slightly older dude (55ish?) who remarked that he’d never seen Pearl Jam before, but they truly reminded him
of his experiences following the Grateful Dead decades ago. Not the music, but the vibe of the concert and the loyalty of the fans. He was blown away.

Seriously. Anyone who’s is disappointed about Evil Goat being scratched has either been to way too many shows or just weird. That’s Barely a song and it’s garbage. I am surprised how little Indiff has been played. Y Led is rarely played on night 1.

Joking or not, I think many are desperately in need of some new music.

great set from afar, most certainly am excited for Fenway and will have have a blast, but let’s debut a new song or 2 if we can

20th show.  All I can say is this, was a rocker.  Ed,s voice was spot on tonight.  Love Wrigley.  Left wanting more, which is a good thing. Can’t wait for Monday.

First time hearing both songs (SOLAT and Breath)from the singles soundtrack in the same show... nice bonus

This could be true. Can’t deny me is not exactly filling that  void very well.
  • I also want to comment on the cover songs. No other band at Pearl Jam’s level plays such fascinating and varied covers. I know we tend to take it for granted, but step back and realize that last night we heard PJ’s takes on songs by Neil Young, Tom Petty, Eddie Holland, The Clash, David Bowie, and Chris Cornell.

    Just so cool.

Last night was my 10th and best show! Finally got to hear Wash, Breakerfall, Hail Hail, Alone and Getaway for the first time! Other highlights for me were Garden, Footsteps, Breath, Animal, Not For You, Know Your Rights. Pretty much the whole damn show was just one big fucking highlight! Great crowd in Aisle 114. A ton of energy. Can't wait for number 11 whenever that may be.

What a privilege of seeing Pearl Jam for the 4th time in the hallowed grounds of Wrigley Field. For this show we brought our 3 daughters ages 12, 17, and 23 to their first show. We were in section 31 with ten club tix and they were in section 101. They had great seats for their first show. Was a little nervous because we weren't with them. No issues and they had a blast.
I dont understand all the complaining about setlist. Yes my 17 yr old didn't get to hear Black but she is ok with it. She understands that it was still a special night. Can we all try to understand that.
    The second set was great.
    sOLAt into breathe was great.
Opening with Wash was great even though most didn't know song. Garden was great.
    Finally hearing Getaway live.
Footsteps was and is always great.
Thought there might have been some sound issues but not major and Eddie sounded great.
Lowlight was great. My daughter loved that one.
Rebel Rebel was a good surprise. Nice seeing World Series trophy.
Crowd was pretty good around us. Wish we were on field.
Going on Monday. Girls are fighting over which one gets to go.
Thank you Pearl Jam for touching so many life's and making Wrigley even more special.

Bowie is my all-time favorite artist so Rebel, Rebel was absolutely incredible to see. That was absolute magic. Also State/Breath was such a fucking awesome 1-2 punch. And the way Alone went straight into RVM was sick.

Whole show was fantastic, but real talk? Seeing the songs they scratched out really kills me.

Sound was great in Section 434.
