That is pretty damn sweet, Andrew.  What model is that?

I canceled my Gibson SJ200 order from late 2020.  Tired of waiting and kinda pissed that they are churning out all these new acoustic models without taking care of orders from 20 months ago.  Understand they need to release fresh stuff, but 20 months is ridiculous.  Was getting it for $500 less than current cost but not want to hassle with flipping it for maybe $100 profit.

You can still get a true Gibson made at 225 Parsons St, Kalamazoo, MI.  Where they made them for 82 years.

The head-stock and name is different, but the legacy, quality, and quality control is leagues above the what they a churning out in Nashville. (where Gibson just decided to add light bulbs to the production area a mere five years ago so their workers could see what they were doing :s

Heritage makes beautiful guitars. I have toured the facility a couple times. They really do incredible work there.

I hate hearing that about your SJ...I've been trying to order one for what seems like years now and they are never in stock...I had seen them online while I was on vacation this summer for about 3 days and foolishly thought I'd just wait until I got home to order it...oh well...I will get one at some point...many years from now most likely - especially given your experience...that sucks though

That is exactly the guitar I'm looking to get from Gibson - it's a beauty and I've fallen in love with it...but for $1k less...I feel like I'm in Wayne's World...but one day, she will be mine...

Assuming I don't lose my patience and pull the trigger on the Hummingbird Original in Heritage Cherry Sunburst which they do seem to restock from time to time...but are currently out of stock on...which helps keep me more patient (I guess)

I had ordered the natural finish but was really interested in the burgundy SJ200  finish which didn’t exist at the time.  Regardless, spent too much on guitars in 2021 and need to stop.

Wow. Looks like I could probably sell my SJ-200 for more than I paid new? Glad no one bought it a while ago when I was needing cash.

My new Gibson Hummingbird (Original-HCS). I bought it online from Holland and I'm based in Ireland. Lots of Gibson acoustics are so hard to come by in Europe right now. The newer models are easiest to order.

It needed a good set up and the action lowered quite a bit, which I was surprised by. The action at the 12th fret was definitely higher than stated on the Gibson inspection card. Anyway, after all that it plays and sounds amazing.

Thanks. Still a lot of work to be done on the front but the back and the stickman turned out good so far. Adding bandmember names on the fretboard and album names to the outer edge of the body and then filling in spaces with different glass pieces to add color.

My kids wanted to get a guitar, so after not playing for 20 years I got another one for me. Spent more than I wanted to, but I think I got a great deal. Paid $750 for a USA tele and Fender super champ tube amp.
I don’t think the guy selling it knew what he had and did an awful job listing it. Just listed it as “Fender Telecaster” for $750. In the second photo was a screen shot of a MIM tele from guitar center he was basing the price off of. Short description that’s ruined the amp was included. Last picture was the amp, I wasn’t familiar with it so I looked it up. Saw it was about a $400 tube amp. Saw
the serial number and made in USA on in another pic. Looking up the serial number I saw it’s a Highway One tele. Sounds amazing paired with the amp!
Now if I just learn to play…

Very cool! Is the amp a Super Champ Xd?

Cool amps. I have an Xd, which is the predecessor to yours. They are quite similar but the first versions lacked USB connectivity.

If for whatever reason you don't like the sound of your amp, it can very easily and cheaply be remedied. Fender shipped them biased about 25% under the recommendation for the power tubes they use. Dialing it up to where it belongs really wakes them up.

I know almost nothing about tube amps other than most people love them.
So far I really like it. But what does it mean to and how do you dial it up?
  • dudemandudeman Posts: 3,061
I'd keep it as-is then. Adjusting the bias requires getting into the amp chassis and dialing a trimpot to a specific value. You'd need a multimeter to read that value.

Working inside tube amps isn't something that I would recommend anyone attempt unless they were familiar with electronics.

    Play that thing and enjoy!
