I can't get over what a piece of shit tRump is. Just a disgusting human being. How anyone can support this piece of shit blows my mind.
I'm really quite bummed that we finally got a "business person" who was not a career politician in a high office and this is the one we chose. He is not a true business person (Daddy's $ and no board or shareholders to hold him accountable) and he is slimier and more of a liar than the career politicians...which is really hard to do.
Quid pro quo for Team Trump Treason moving the embassy to Jerusalem? Team Mueller’s enquiring minds want to know. Aweful lot of money to follow, from Russia with love and a PTape, all the way to impeachment. You don’t think Team Trump Treason does anything out of the goodness of his heart, now do you?

Yeah and a businessperson isn't anything special. They aren't any better at politics than anyone else. The Exxon guy was a total dud.

Not all of them. But there are lots of very intelligent great leaders in industry. It would be refreshing to see that, the best versions of that, playing out in our government where it fits. The biggest difference in my mind is it doesn’t appear that government (congress especially) has any sense of urgency. They never really have deadlines. This could be better.
But my biggest annoyance is many will think business people are all just like trump. They aren’t...not at all.

Nor is “government” like “business.” Two completely different animals. Being successful in one does not, and rarely does, translate into success in the other.

I hear this often. I tend to disagree as leadership translates.
Oh and this doesn’t actually address my point. My point wasn’t that all business people are better than politicians. Just that I’m pissed that this fake business person may have ruined it for others who could actually do a good job.

I cringe every time someone says "government needs to run more like a business." I've worked for a few entities and the one that ran most like a business is the one that would piss righties (and some lefties, including me) most. It ran like a business...which meant that it grew. They were excellent at finding funds and expanding from their original purpose. They are two different things. I don't think that means a successful businessperson would not be able to be successful, but they are two different things.
(obviously, as a primarily public employee, I also don't buy the conventional wisdom of "government employees bad; private employees good." That puts me in the minority, I suppose. But in any case, sometimes it seems like "...needs to run more like a business" is just something we say without really thinking about what that means.)

The only thing that gives me hope with our system is that it still keeps an idiot like tRump in check. I have zero fear of tRump serving a second term and zero fear of him leaving office when his time is up.

This article was from 6 months ago. Not sure why it's news now.
Pretty sure it was a joke. Bush 43 once joked that being president would be a lot easier if we had a dictatorship--or something to that effect. Plenty of things to get riled up about...not sure this is one of them.

Remember that voting fraud commission that disbanded for lack of something to do?
I didn’t say government should run like a business. Sheesh people read whatever they want to into stuff.
I know you didn't but it seems that you're implying that Team Trump Treason has ruined it for "successful" or "good" or "talented" individuals who were successful in business or industry who could be or would be successful in giovernment. I'm arguing that they would struggle, be hamstrung, grow frustrated and ultimately, not be successful in government. Imagine Mark Cuban, Bill Gates, Koch Brothers (take your pick), Mark Zuckerberg or Jeff Bezos as POTUS? No thank you.
Throw some names out there. Who do you think would be a good POTUS because they've been successful in the business world and why? Take the money out of politics, Citizens United, and you'd see more of those types run. The constantly begging for money and feeling like you owe favors to those who gave is one of the things that keep "good" people from running.

Honestly, I don't see them as that different. -Both must feign allegiance to clients and staff, but are allegiant to their bank accounts (optics -> success) -Both see ethics and justice as negotiable when their bank accounts are threatened (optics -> success) -Both have plentiful opportunities for corruption and structures which fail to prevent that corruption (corruption -> success) -Both successfully peddle their product (be it ideas, votes, or products) to easily manipulatable populations (exploitation -> success)
I'm starting to feel like the resident nihilist, but pick a politician or a businessperson - the system itself is FUBAR when politicians are more successful when they embrace optics, exploitation and corruption to fill their pockets, than when they don't. I don't see how capitalism and democracy, especially with a dumb population, can sustainably coexist.
Seems that the cracks are already there, if it isn't already game over. I think back to Ishmael, where the early flying machine pioneer flies his plane off the cliff, and thinks he's flying until the instance where he hits the ground.
