    You (and other Trump supporters like you) attempt to compartmentalize each Trump statement and encourage people to review them on their own, without context or history.  Is calling Haiti a shithole always racist?  I don't know, maybe or maybe not.  But when you look at the body of Trump remarks from over the years.. then it just simply adds to the mosaic that is his ongoing racist worldview and the "browning" of America.

    There was a Reagan quote on the news this morning that I can't find now but it included something about if you move to Germany, you won't be German and others like that...If you come to America, you can be American. I might have not said that quite right but the point is that we are a nation based on an idea, not geography. I'm proud of that and so glad my ancestors immigrated to America. We're having growing pains that could be handled better if we had a leader who believed in America and the Constitution.

    The only republicans that will push against trump are the ones in contested races. trump has a high level of support from republican voters right now, so there’s no benefit from being critical of him in bigly red states and districts. It’s too far out from the election for the contested Rs to say anything. If Mueller releases a bomb on trump say this summer, republicans can wash their hands of him and nearly all of them will be seen as clean from their constituents. “Gee whiz, I had no idea. Okay everyone, we all need to unite and move the country ahead”.

    That’s the angle to take, but to flip a R voter in a heavily red area will take work. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out between now and then and how they try to convince people they don’t support trump but sorta do. Dems will need a high turnout, which I think is possible this off year.

    he also had MLK's nephew next to him, and when asked outside the white house by CNN whether he thought Trump was a racist or not, he said "I don't think he's a racist in the traditional sense, I think he's racially ignorant". LOL
