Here's the thing now about Trump, everyone, except his supporters, everyone, from both sides of the aisle to the Russians, Chinese, North Koreans, Syrians, Germans, et. al. know that he's full of bluster, unknowledgable and lacks attention to detail and the finer points of whatever is being negotiated and, that he's reliant on others who are novices or have hidden agendas. As a result, Trump is easily played and what you're about to witness is the raping of America by his ilk and the rest of the world. Until he's impeached of course.
Right. The impeachment that's been spoken about with no feasible routes to get there. The Emoluments Clause was the most plausible route mentioned, and yet where's that lawsuit, 104 days in?
I believe there have been lawsuits filed by private citizens and/or political science professors. They just haven't been reported on as there hasn't been anything to report. They have to make the court calendar and be subject to preemptive strikes, etc. when that process starts, you'll start hearing about it. Patience. With time, the truth will come out as to how corrupt this administration really is.

I am heartbroken at what I'm reading on twitter right now. so many people, so worried that their loved ones may ACTUALLY DIE because of this bill; they won't be able to afford the life saving care they need.

ALL OF YOU TRUMP SUPPORTERS.....I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND THE GRAVITY OF YOUR DECISION TO SUPPORT THIS FUCKING ASSHOLE. I HOPE IT DOESN'T PASS THE SENATE. IF IT DOES, PEOPLE WILL DIE SO THE RICH CAN GET A TAX CUT. THAT IS NO HYPEROBLE. THAT IS REAL.

are you fucking seriously for this? you can't be, this place is awfully quiet for such a big "win" for your side. i think  you are thinking to yourselves "oh fuck, what have we done?".

if "deplorable" wasn't an accurate term for you before, it sure fucking is now.

And I'm Canadian. If I was american, I'd be 100x angrier than I am now.

what is utterly disgusting about this, is that AHCA contains exemptions for members of congress and their staff.

"you can't have healthcare, but you're paying for mine".

how ironic that this happened on May the 4th. Those assholes should have walked into the room to The Imperial March, not the Rocky theme.

They're just kicking it along to the Senate so they don't have to deal with it or Trump for the time being.

this article explains a lot about what's wrong in Washington today, and I agree with it wholeheartedly. Both sides act like fucking children.

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/04/politics/healthcare-democrats-booing-na-na-na-good-bye-singing/index.html

(CNN)When House Republicans secured their 216th "yes" on the American Health Care Act Thursday, Democrats immediately began taunting their across-the-aisle rivals.

The implication was obvious: Democrats believed many Republicans had just cost themselves their political careers by voting for an overhaul of Obamacare.
And the DC political class wonders why people hate them.
I understand that Democrats not only didn't like the way this bill was passed -- without any estimates on what it might cost or how many people might lose coverage as a result -- but also believed the policies contained in it would leave the country and its people considerably worse off.
That is a worthy conversation to have. But, that's not what Democrats were doing. Instead, they were jeering and mocking their colleagues.
Look. We have two parties in this country for a reason. Democrats and Republicans don't always disagree on the problems the country faces but do almost always disagree on how to solve them.
Debating those differences is the stuff of democracy. Giving the public the chance, every two years, to render their judgment on who has more of the right in the argument is the backbone of our political system.
Poll after poll suggests that one thing both sides broadly agree on is that they prefer bipartisan compromise to go-it-alone-ism. When House Democrats act like they did today -- or President Trump acts like he does almost every day -- we get further and further from even the possibility of finding common ground or even just talking to each other like human beings.
It also convinces people not in Washington or not involved in politics that the people who are representing them in DC have no real idea what they care about or value.
That's a very bad thing for the long-term health of our democracy.

excellent. at least that's something. unfortunately, the fat cats in congress can afford their own healthcare.

Chanting na na na na goodbye is not the only thing the democrats have done regarding this. And the repubs in all their brilliance, passed a bill to give Trump a win, rather than really work to improve the ACA. Compare this process to Obama's. There is no comparison. The republicans should be mocked for their folly.

Senate Republicans are already making noise. The AHCA doesn't have a chance in its current form. You'd think Republicans, who purport to be fiscally conservative would be interested to know what this will cost. But they voted without knowing the CBO score. As one Republican congressman said, the bill's "price tag is unknown." That doesn't sound fiscally responsible, much less conservative, to me.

Wait... now I haven't read much but this can't get done through a budget reconciliation  in the Senate can it?  If not... if it's treated as a law,  then a filibuster will stop it.
It is my understanding that this can get done through reconciliation but I don't think they get to 50 votes anyways. Strategically it doesn't actually matter if this bill passes the senate or not. Obamacare is in a death spiral...it is only a matter of time before it collapses. If the current bill doesn't pass then the GOP will be able to run against a democratic party that prevented a "fix". In actuality will this bill be a "fix" if it passes? Certainly not in the short term...there will be short term complications for sure that will have real life negative implications to some but that being said the current Obamacare system is busted...it is over...and doing nothing will be worse. If this bill doesn't pass the senate who will get blamed for "doing nothing"? Probably the democrats.

They basically know the score because from my understanding this bill is the same as the one from last month with a couple of amendments thrown into the mix. Sure the amendments will alter the score...probably in a more costly direction...bit it isn't that relevant because this will not be the final bill even if it gets that far. The senate will now make their own bill and should that pass then both bills will go to conference. It is the bill that eventually comes out of conference who's score will matter most.

If I was american, I'd be 100x angrier than I am now.

you anger only hurts you and will change nothing.

Hugh, ignore this, and keep in mind that for now, this needs to pass through Senate. Three seats lost and they're done, and will surely continue to blame Democrats for the loss. Two seats lost and America will blame Pence (either way he votes) when the time comes, as he'll have the tie-breaking vote. My hope is the former, my fear is the latter.
