    OPINION

Trump Was Right About Everything | Opinion

    DONALD TRUMP JR.
ON 3/16/22 AT 12:00 PM EDT

Let's start with Russia. There is no other issue that exposes just how insane the media's coverage of President Trump was than Russia. Democrats dragged America through years of a ridiculous Russia hoax in an effort to destroy his presidency. Not only was the "collusion" lie totally debunked, but Trump was tougher on Russia than any president since the end of the Cold War. There is a reason Vladimir Putin didn't invade other nations during the Trump presidency—he saw real leadership in Trump's White House.

And yet, Trump didn't get us into any stupid wars or entanglements with Russia either. He understood that peace comes through strength and smart deal making, not through weakness and incompetence like what we've seen from Biden. America First meant focusing on our issues, not trying to solve all the problems of the world.

The Trump administration also got gas and oil right. It understood the vital importance of American energy independence, supporting the Keystone pipeline and the Dakota Access pipeline. Trump made the United States the largest producer of oil and natural gas in the world and supported new drilling projects in Alaska and throughout the country.

Biden shut down the Keystone pipeline on day one. His energy policies are absolutely horrendous, and they directly result in higher prices for every consumer. He's culpable for today's historic inflation.

President Trump also understood the world better than Joe Biden. He knows how to deal with leaders such as China's President Xi Jinping. He wasn't afraid to levy tariffs on Chinese goods in order to force Beijing to agree to a new trade deal, which was successfully completed in 2020. Trump understood that Xi was smart and wanted the best for China, just as he wanted the best for America. He knew how to deal with the Chinese leader, unlike bumbling Joe Biden.

China, of course, fell way short of its obligations in that deal since Joe Biden came into office, because it knows it's dealing with a truly weak president. And President Biden's weakness on Ukraine all but guarantees that Taiwan is next.

Guess who knew how to handle the Middle East? It sure isn't any of the current comedians in the White House. The recent oil price spike has increased the world's reliance on Gulf nations Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. But they won't even take America's calls anymore.

As president, Trump pulled us out of the weak Iran deal and created the Abraham Accords, with new alliances forming between Israel, the UAE and Bahrain—the first new peace deal between Israel and its Middle Eastern neighbors in decades! Did I mention he crushed ISIS too?

President Biden worked hard to undo everything Trump did to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East, and now these countries laugh at us. Since Biden took office, he has alienated both Israel and our Gulf allies, appeased the Iranians' nuclear ambitions and sowed new instability across the region.

    Great job, Joe.

my spidey sense just tends to flare up when it's a "everything (my side) did was awesome" and "everything (the other side) did is awful" type of situation. there's gotta be SOME truth in there somewhere, no?

What do you want to know about?  The outright lies vs the half truths vs the wishful thinking?
    So it is all bullshit?
I mean I could offer a different perspective on each point:

    1. Putin didn't invade under Trump because:
    A. Trump was busy undermining NATO on his own.  He didn't need to do so
    B. The military wasn't ready (still isn't), plus COVID.

    2. Keystone is total bullshit.  The pipeline started in 2007 and when teh permit was lifted in 2021, it was 8% completed.  Is Don Jr arguing that that the pipeline would have finished its remaining 92% over the last six months?  Ridiculous.  Plus it bypassed the rail transportation today, moving oil from Alberta to Oklahoma.  It didn't produce any more oil.  It reduced the expenses for the oil companies.  But oil is market priced.  Companies don't price their own

    3. Xi - every analysis shows that the sanctions on China only hurt the US, it didn't help.  I can share analysis from both sides of the aisle that show the fruitlessness of the sanctions.  Plus Trump pulled us from TPP which had excluded China. Now a new deal is being done in the region that includes China and excludes the US.  It was a terrible idea for about 50 reasons.

    4.  Pulling out of Iran was a huge mistake and was purely to make the argument that everythign Obama did was wrong.  Pulling out of TPP was just as terrible of an idea.  (See above)

    5. Abraham Accords were fine, but mostly meaningless.  They didn't ensure peace in the middle East and didn't involve the main players of instability.

Yeah...agree with everything Mrussel said. Don Jr is just not a serious person, obviously. So basically everything he said is easily refuted. The problem is, the points he is making seem like "common sense" to a lot of the people who voted for Trump and don't spend any time verifying his claims.

I also think there was evidence as far back as Trump's last year that China was not abiding to the terms of that trade deal anyway.

To the bold, how did that make the world more reliant on oil from these three ME countries? Meanwhile, repubs continue to take steps to ensure the Deplorables return to power. Good luck.

I don't know the enough about some of the specifics for sure to be 100% confident in my take.  But it's a pretty comical piece for me.  He touts his father's strength and deal making as to why Russian didn't invade Ukraine and for why China was held at bay, etc, etc etc.  The reality was that Donald Senior let those leaders do whatever they wanted.  Tough to have conflict when you are getting your way at every turn.

I will say there are a few things that ring true for me.

    1) The Dems focused FAR too much on collusion with Russia rather than the fact that Russia was the enemy and the president just failed to act.  It allowed trump to say he was right and have 40% of the population completely forgetting that Russia interfered with our elections and Donald did nothing.  Again, tough to have conflict when you can do what you want and get away with it.
    2) Inflation - I do believe Joe owns a portion of the blame for this and I do think it would be even worse had the entire BBB plan been adopted.
    3) Energy - This to me is a difference of priorities.  Do you want to drill wherever and not have to import as much or do you want to go green.  Trumps policies certainly help the short term more than Biden's.....but at what cost for the long-term.
    4) Trump can certainly claim he kept US out of conflicts...again, he just let other countries do what they want.  But in reality, he owns this current Russian aggression by providing them cover, allowing Putin to do what he wants and embolden him.

So of course that is mostly a propoganda, truth bending piece from the guy's son.  But let's not forget the Dems laughed at Mitt Romney when he said Russian was the #1 threat in 2012.  let's not let Joe Biden blame inflation on all these other things without owning his piece.  And let's not forget that the Dems DID becoming consumed with going after Trump and ignoring other risks as well.

This is true...he makes vague statements about what trump did and pretends there is actual evidence to back it up when it isn't there.
