Donald Trump Jr. this week offered his father an out when it came to the elder Trump’s increasingly unseemly recent and past praise for Russian President Vladimir Putin: His dad was just “playing” Putin! Fair enough. So the jig is up. Now, with Putin invading Ukraine and becoming a pariah on the world stage, would seem to be the time for Donald Trump Sr. to say what he really thinks. Putin, after all, now knows it was just a ruse all along.
The former president apparently didn’t get the memo.
During a lengthy interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity on Thursday night, Hannity played a role he has become exceedingly familiar with: Trying to coach Trump through saying the right thing. In this case, the thing was that Putin is “evil” or an “enemy.” Ninety percent of Americans, after all, dislike Putin in a new poll — and 86 percent view him “very unfavorably.” So it’s kind of a slam-dunk, politically. And it would sure help Trump’s fellow Republicans, who have strained to assure they view Putin as evil, even if Trump hasn’t.
But Trump, true to form, wouldn’t take the hint. Repeatedly, Hannity tried to elicit Trump into calling Putin evil or something amounting to it. And repeatedly, Trump declined, instead focusing on tangential issues. When he did lament the atrocious scenes in Ukraine, he talked about it merely as something “sad” or regrettable that was happening, rather than attaching it to Putin.
I don't know but what I do know is that Trump didn't start WW3 like everyone said he would. We now have both Putin and Kim Jong-Un acting out and we are stuck in the middle of it. It's only a matter of time before China does the same and then our situation will only get worse.Make fun of Trump all you want but at least he had open lines of communications with other world leaders. Yes, other world leaders can be dictators but they still need to be given respect because they have nuclear power. Saudi Arabia wouldn't even take Biden's phone call.

Opinions can be formed and expressed with facts, a deep understanding of the issue(s) and years or a lifetime of scholarly study, research and experience. Opinions can be formed and expressed with a knowledge of history and an understanding of how the issue and the history, based in facts, come together. Or opinions can be formed and expressed by blowing some smoke out of ones ass with no basis in reality or facts.

There's opinions and there's informed opinions. We have information about how Trump may have responded if he was president based on what he's said so far. He's been complimentary of Putin and I haven't seen him support or reinforce the response from the US and other nations (sanctions, providing weapons, etc). When asked how he sees this playing out, he immediately goes on some tangent about playing into their hands and goes off on carnage and death from windmills. I did see him say something about how he would destroy Putin psychologically, which I'm not sure how that would manifest. Trash talk and mean statements on his worthless app?

Judge: Trump delays on rape accuser's claims in 'bad faith'By LARRY NEUMEISTER1 hour ago
NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Donald Trump’s legal moves aimed at delaying a rape accuser’s defamation claims from reaching trial are in bad faith and, so far, succeeding, a judge said in a decision released Friday as he rejected an attempt by Trump to countersue.
E. Jean Carroll's single claim of defamation “could have been tried and decided — one way or the other — long ago," U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan said.
In a written ruling dated Thursday but publicly filed Friday, Kaplan cited delays caused by Trump's legal tactics as he rejected the former president's attempt to countersue Carroll under a law sometimes used to challenge defamation lawsuits that unfairly make claims.

Trump’s fundraising for the PAC has annoyed some Republicans, who say he is cannibalizing small-dollar fundraising but not using the money to benefit the party or other candidates. According to the PAC’s most recent filings in January, it started the year with $122 million and had distributed roughly $350,000 among 69 candidates and committees.
The former president’s PAC has more cash on hand than any Republican committee or candidate, and Trump has stockpiled an overwhelming majority of the money. He cannot use it for a presidential bid, but there are few limits on how he can spend it.

guess this goes here? And I'm not sure how I feel about this. Do other former SoS get security as formers? Clinton doesnt count being spouse of former Pres....US pays $2M a month to protect Pompeo, aide from Iran threatBy MATTHEW LEEYesterday
WASHINGTON (AP) — The State Department says it’s paying more than $2 million per month to provide 24-hour security to former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and a former top aide, both of whom face “serious and credible” threats from Iran.
The department told Congress in a report that the cost of protecting Pompeo and former Iran envoy Brian Hook between August 2021 and February 2022 amounted to $13.1 million. The report, dated Feb. 14 and marked “sensitive but unclassified,” was obtained by The Associated Press on Saturday.
Pompeo and Hook led the Trump administration’s “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran and the report says U.S. intelligence assesses that the threats to them have remained constant since they left government and could intensify. The threats have persisted even as President Joe Biden's administration has been engaged in indirect negotiations with Iran over a U.S. return to a landmark 2015 nuclear deal.
As a former secretary of state, Pompeo was automatically given 180 days of protection by the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security after leaving office. But that protection has been repeatedly extended in 60-day increments by Secretary of State Antony Blinken due to “a serious and credible threat from a foreign power or agent of a foreign power arising from duties performed by former Secretary Pompeo while employed by the department,” the report said.
Hook, who along with Pompeo was often the public face of the Trump administration's imposition of crippling sanctions against Iran, was granted the special protection by Blinken for the same reason as Pompeo immediately after he left government service. That has also been repeatedly renewed in 60-day increments.
The latest 60-day extensions will expire soon and the State Department, in conjunction with the Director of National Intelligence, must determine by March 16 if the protection should extended again, according to the report.
The report was prepared because the special protection budget will run out in June and require a new infusion of money if extensions are deemed necessary.
Current U.S. officials say the threats have been discusses in the nuclear talks in Vienna, where Iran is demanding the removal of all Trump-era sanctions. Those sanctions include a “foreign terrorist organization” designation of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that Pompeo and Hook were instrumental in approving.

Trump Was Right About Everything | Opinion
DONALD TRUMP JR.
ON 3/16/22 AT 12:00 PM EDTLet's start with Russia. There is no other issue that exposes just how insane the media's coverage of President Trump was than Russia. Democrats dragged America through years of a ridiculous Russia hoax in an effort to destroy his presidency. Not only was the "collusion" lie totally debunked, but Trump was tougher on Russia than any president since the end of the Cold War. There is a reason Vladimir Putin didn't invade other nations during the Trump presidency—he saw real leadership in Trump's White House.
And yet, Trump didn't get us into any stupid wars or entanglements with Russia either. He understood that peace comes through strength and smart deal making, not through weakness and incompetence like what we've seen from Biden. America First meant focusing on our issues, not trying to solve all the problems of the world.
The Trump administration also got gas and oil right. It understood the vital importance of American energy independence, supporting the Keystone pipeline and the Dakota Access pipeline. Trump made the United States the largest producer of oil and natural gas in the world and supported new drilling projects in Alaska and throughout the country.
Biden shut down the Keystone pipeline on day one. His energy policies are absolutely horrendous, and they directly result in higher prices for every consumer. He's culpable for today's historic inflation.President Trump also understood the world better than Joe Biden. He knows how to deal with leaders such as China's President Xi Jinping. He wasn't afraid to levy tariffs on Chinese goods in order to force Beijing to agree to a new trade deal, which was successfully completed in 2020. Trump understood that Xi was smart and wanted the best for China, just as he wanted the best for America. He knew how to deal with the Chinese leader, unlike bumbling Joe Biden.
China, of course, fell way short of its obligations in that deal since Joe Biden came into office, because it knows it's dealing with a truly weak president. And President Biden's weakness on Ukraine all but guarantees that Taiwan is next.Guess who knew how to handle the Middle East? It sure isn't any of the current comedians in the White House. The recent oil price spike has increased the world's reliance on Gulf nations Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. But they won't even take America's calls anymore.
As president, Trump pulled us out of the weak Iran deal and created the Abraham Accords, with new alliances forming between Israel, the UAE and Bahrain—the first new peace deal between Israel and its Middle Eastern neighbors in decades! Did I mention he crushed ISIS too?President Biden worked hard to undo everything Trump did to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East, and now these countries laugh at us. Since Biden took office, he has alienated both Israel and our Gulf allies, appeased the Iranians' nuclear ambitions and sowed new instability across the region.
Great job, Joe.
