    Weird.

It's also the same Russia who is still occupying the Ukraine.

I get that. But there just seems to be a whole new level of outrage over everything just because it's trump.

Everything he does he takes to a whole new level, including his lies and attacks on opponents, so why shouldn't the reaction be proportionate?

So, is Team Trump Treason going to wreck the economy of Turkey now? Or just another empty promise, like bombing that Syrian airfield. Or winning the Nobel for denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula. So much winning.

Ugh. This is an immediate issue. As if election meddling wasn’t, but this is a matter of lives and trust in the US. Impeachment can’t come soon enough. I hope that the republicans in the senate can grasp the issues at hand. I hope they can understand that this isn’t just about policy differences. It’s about our elections and lives of the Kurds. Action must be taken more quickly than I would have liked. And perhaps that’s trumps plan, try to get it to the senate faster so he stands a chance. He is willing to sacrifice the lives of friends in order to help Russia and help himself.

Yeah this is the worst thing he's done for sure. I can't imagine what it's like for these career military generals or career intelligence agency officials that have to do what this guy says. "Commander In Chief" should just be a symbolic title.

Facebook is accepting money to spread political propaganda they know is false, propaganda which if effective will benefit Facebook in the long term, and there's a question as to whether or not they are wrong to do so?

    Really?

I see your point, but is it the responsibility of every private corporation to validate the veracity of every statement made on their pages by their paid advertisers? I mean, CNN has their "paid content" on the website's front page, and it all looks like tabloid garbage.

should they take down ads by (insert sugar cereal here) claiming to be "part of your complete breakfast"?

ultimately the responsibility lies with the consumer/voter to decide. as unfortunate as it is. false/misleading political attack ads have been running on tv for decades. but now that's it the "cesspool" of social media, now everyone cares? what's the difference?

Well, for starters, social media's reach and influence is greater than anything we've ever seen before (it's unprecedented), and the lies are only getting bolder & bigger, so there's two significant differences.

Furthermore, do you really not see the difference between CNN running an ad that might call Frosted Flakes "a part of your complete breakfast" and Facebook running an ad claiming Biden withheld $1B from the Ukraine?

i never claimed they were the same or equal, just that they are on the same spectrum. My "what's the difference" was in regards to social media vs tv.

TV had an exponentially larger reach 15 years ago.

so it's only a bad thing now because of social media's reach? shouldn't it have been a problem before, regardless? and also, isn't social media a young person's (mostly) folly? you know, the ones that don't vote?

I think people are attempting to move the goal posts because it's trump. because we are in semi-uncharted territory here, where we have the US president ready and willing to tell not just exaggerations, or partial truths, but obvious lies.

my point is where is the line drawn? is it only drawn for trump and the GOP? or do we outlaw all political ads altogether, because by and large, they are ALL utter bullshit, whether by telling lies or lying by omission of truth.
given the information thats come out over the years about facebook and its practices, yeah they should pull it.

from the manipulation in algorithms, to the experiments, the lax nature of the company in regards to private info they have access to. to the shitshow they allowed in 2016.

all followed by false and hollow apologies by fuckerberg to change and do better.

but they are a private company. they have never claimed to be an upstanding bringer of the truth. it's a place where people commiserate and show off their fucking dinner.

i don't know how much responsibility/clout i want to give a place like facebook to be in charge of keeping our elections safe. the onus is on the voter.

sometimes i do think there should be a law against political ads altogether. it's no different than libel, to me. you say something about a person, and it's out there. it doesn't matter how untrue it is, there is often no getting in front of it. political ads are no different. the energy and money you spend to defend yourself and it's almost always too late.

most politicians don't outwardly make shit up. trump is changing the game. and he gives no shits about it because to him a win is the most important thing. neither does his party. they are fucking loving it; the constant winning. they go low we go high didn't work. and it won't. but what do you do? do you get dirty with the pigs? then we're all fucking pigs.

i think you make election campaigns donor-free and ad-free. you have platforms and debates. nothing else. but who the fuck is going to put that forth, essentially making illegal the thing that put them into office?

    So surprising...

The two men, who helped Giuliani investigate former vice president Joe Biden, were charged with campaign finance violations, according to a person familiar with the charges.
Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman have been under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan.
This is a developing story. It will be updated.

Is anyone else finding that they just keep thinking about the multitude of ways this could play out from here? Every day is a little more batshit crazy than the last and it's so impossible to tell what to expect of the politicians or the people anymore!

North Korea is playing him too....it's unbelievable.  Once again, what if Obama was this irresponsible and ignorant when dealing with NK and Turkey, etc.  It just defies reality.

It does remind me of that NYT op-ed from a year or so ago.  The anonymous author stated that there were people on the inside that would thwart tRump's orders in order to avoid total meltdown.

I can't believe Mattis and Tillerson aren't more vocal.  I have zero respect for Mattis anymore.  Fuck that idiot.
