    Why?  I can understand wanting to remain in the shadows, but what would be the reason for impersonating Pence?  To undermine any investigation maybe, but still seems like a cowardly move to implicate someone else unless it is a fake trying to sabotage things further.
    There are frequent leaks and apparently it has become common knowledge that leakers will use phrases and words associated with other figures to try to throw people off their trail.

    The documents were released shortly after a heated confrontation between Democrats and Republicans during Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing.

    Sens. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) on Thursday released copies of emails from Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh that Republicans had refused to make public, risking the possibility that they were breaking Senate rules.

    The documents were released shortly after a heated confrontation between Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee during Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing. The Democrats despite threats from Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) to expel them from the body. 

    “Bring it,” Booker replied.

    I don't get the sense that Mike Pence is selfless enough to have done it. He has ambitions and doing this and being revealed would risk all that. I'm sure we'll find out at some point though.
