  • Yeah he won't let this go, just like he won't stop tweeting. He obviously has an obsessive personality so he'll ride folks on this issue until he gets his way. I don't know, like I've said before I'm not too bothered by anything he's done yet, and I'm def starting to get political over-saturation. There's just too much. I'll keep reading headlines but I don't see myself caring too much about any of it for a while.

But what if he doesn't get his way? He likely won't "get his way" on a lot of things. He's not the only boss anymore. Before he was elected he could rule his dumbass universe by snapping his fingers. Now it doesn't work that way. People that he has no control over can make his life very difficult and there isn't squat that he can do about it.

I think President Trump is very upset what this judge did to his order and he will soon find out how powerful a POTUS can be.
President Trump will not let this go and will strain the judicial process until he gets the stay. How will he do this I'm not sure but I do see a stay coming relatively soon.

The short phrase for what you just proposed is a Constitutional Crisis. Every since Marbury v. Madison, the judicial branch has the power to declare laws and orders Constitutional or Unconstitutional. The POTUS has never tried to overrule said reviews since 1803. I'm not sure you understand the magnitude of what you are suggesting here.

No they're not. You just interpret the analogy wrong.

  • Just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. If something happens blame him and court system. People pouring in. Bad! I have instructed Homeland Security to check people coming into our country VERY CAREFULLY. The courts are making the job very difficult! I will be interviewed by @oreillyfactor at 4:00 P.M. (prior to the #SuperBowl Pre-game Show) on Fox Network. Enjoy!

It appears that the law is on Trump's side but something like this has never really been litigated (I don't think). There is a possibility that it could go all the way to the Supreme Court and in that situation nobody knows for sure how it will play out. The point is that there will be checks and balances and if the Supreme Court has to weigh in so be it. People who hate the order however should be prepared for the Supreme Court to ok the law in the end as it seems pretty clear that the executive branch has the authority when it comes to controlling the border.

I definitely don't think he understand that either. I don't think he truly understands exactly what the separation of powers is really like and that each three branches are EQUAL. President is head of the executive branch, but he's no more "powerful" than anyone else. I wonder if the President had a 7th grade history class level or American government understanding when he signed up for the job? That's not designed as a slam on him. At this point it's a genuine question.

i had US history in 8th grade and i clearly remember that being the main point of the government section of the class. my guess is that Trump was too busy being an arrogant shit to pay attention to any of that.
  • Enjoy the #SuperBowl and then we continue: MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

I think the order will eventually be upheld. The POTUS has broad powers in this area. I can live with that. I can't be okay if he tries to override the court.

    http://www.ctvnews.ca/world/white-house-predicts-court-will-reinstate-travel-ban-1.3271663
Rebuffed in its bid for a quick reversal, the White House said Sunday it expected the courts to reaffirm President Donald Trump's executive power and reinstate a ban on refugees and travellers from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States.
Vice-President Mike Pence defended Trump, saying "the president can criticize anybody he wants." Pence added that he believes the American people "find it very refreshing that they not only understand this president's mind, but they understand how he feels about things."

    https://grabyourwallet.org

Since its first humble incarnation as a screenshot on October 11th, the #GrabYourWallet boycott list has grown as a central resource for understanding how our own consumer purchases may have inadvertently supported the political rise of the Trump family. On November 23rd, the official #GrabYourWallet boycott list moved from a public Google doc to grabyourwallet.org. A small GYW team carefully monitors the inventory of the companies on the list such as Amazon, Nordstrom, and Lord & Taylor and immediately drops companies from the boycott list once it's been verified that official Trump products are no longer available -- either online or in brick and mortar locations. To date, eight companies have been dropped from the #GrabYourWallet list. To see this information, visit the "Which Companies Have Been Dropped" section of the site.

At airports across the US lawyers aim to counter president Trump's immigration ban

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/us-politics/at-airports-across-us-lawyers-aim-to-counter-president-trumps-immigrationban/article33907501/

My second cousin is an immigration lawyer in San Francisco. She and her colleagues have been providing free legal advice for days from a stand in the San Francisco airport.

Her husband, a native Mexican who has a green card and works for Google as an artificial intelligence specialist, has been there to support her. He stands with a sign that says "Immigrants Welcome", while wearing a t-shirt that says "I only look illegal".
