Corduroy. I absolutely love the studio version as well as the early live versions. Every time I've heard it live post 2000 tour, it just doesn't sound the same.

THANK YOU!! For me, there are no songs i wouldnt mind hearing again aside from this one. I live in LA, and in the Spring of 95, Corduroy was overplayed here, along with Green Days When I Come Around, leading me to not really care for either. There was a day when KNAC started playing Corduroy, feeling fed up I switched to KROQ, who was playing the tail end of When I Come Around, i sat through it only to hear the beginning of Corduroy, so I switched to KLOS who was halfway through Corduroy so I just heard it and then they started playing When I Come Around so i angrily switched back to KNAC where Corduroy ending... and then I hear the opening riff of When I Come Around... I turned off the radio at that point. Since then, i just cringe whenever I hear either opening riffs!
I thought I was the only one. This must be what it feels like when doves cry,

Everyone has an opinion but to say Immortality is a worse song live over songs like Last Kiss, Let the Records Play, Johny Guitar, Sweet Lew, Ole, Evacuation, Speed of Sound, Unemployable, Future Days, Just Breathe, Sirens, The Fixer, Push Me Pull Me, Parachutes, Bugs, is crazy imo lol.

Ok so I'm the immortality person, and it's only me so I get you all love it but I'd take any of these songs besides maybe bugs and sirens over it. I've seen the band 40 something times and I bet immortality at half those. Just doesn't do anything for me. Sorry people.
I'm not a huge fan of it being the closer, but I absolutely loved it live. felt like the band and 15,000 people sitting around a campfire, singing together.

Reading this thread, makes me wonder if some of these songs would be less hated if they changed up placement in the setlist? I'm looking at you YL and Alive.

I think of how awesome that Philly Ten show was because some of the standards were gone before halfway through set 1. It completely opened up the whole show for anything.

Would love to see Grievance, Severed Hand and Fuckin' Up enter the rotation more. Plus close out a set or the show with Parting Ways.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I think the title of this thread allowed for the nomination of a song without necessarily equating it to bad or terrible (even though I qualified my choice with some negativity towards it).

The first time I heard Yellow Ledbetter live... it was my favourite selection of the night (well... one of them for sure). When I hear the first notes now... I'm headed for the exits.

    Man,

If this list keeps growing and the band suddenly decides to take it seriously, Pearl Jam's next show will consist of them coming out, waving to the crowd, taking a bow and leaving the stage.

    Best concert ever.

We would be posting on here about the shortest PJ concert you have been to. Also they could play 3 or 4 cities a day.

Just adding to the discussion (no ill will intended) but there are songs out there that I think every Pearl Jam fan should like hearing at a concert. I get the fact that some (many?) of us are a bit tired of "war horses" like Better Man, Even Flow, Corduroy, or Alive (or at least how or when they are performed). There are also polarizing songs like Evacuation, Pilate, Big Wave, and Just Breathe that might not be as in the same realm as the rest of the band's catalog. However, songs like Release, Indifference, Immortality, Present Tense, In My Tree, Long Road, I Got Id, and In Hiding should be welcomed by all in attendance.

Again, just adding to discussion and not trying to attack. I just feel songs like the ones I just listed are the ones for the "serious" fan who can still distinguish between the great stuff and the filler.

I think playing covers is what keeps it fresh and fun for the band. honestly, as a musician, I love playing my own songs, but there's something to letting loose to someone else's, a song that inspired you, brings you back to that moment....

Maybe they should stay completely off the tour bus for 2 or 3 years. Posts like this one would be unnecessary. No solo or side projects either.

For Pearl Jam originals, I would say Sirens, but many people seem to enjoy it at shows. The End, however, seems to put everyone to sleep, so The End is the clear pick. For covers, Rockin' in the free world lost it's mojo at least a decade ago. There are so many great NY songs, they should retire RITFW and pick a new one. With all that said, I'm just happy they are still touring.

Don't mean to get off topic since this is a "worst songs live" thread, but in the spirit of good covers, Masters of War at Wrigley 1 this year absolutely rocked. Hope they keep it in the rotation for a while.

I can't believe songs like All or none and parachutes are on here. They are slower, but quite rare in my experience, and add variety to the setlist. I just hit 50 hows with Wrigley 2, and this year was the first time I heard either (All or None) Philly #2 - and I was almost in tears, and (Parachutes) Ottawa. These are songs that have only been played live respectively 22 and 15 times ever. I just don't get it. I'm all for high-energy songs, but feel like hearing these really adds significance and emotion to a particular show.

PS this thread has become dangerous, can it spontaneously combust before the band sees it?
