I believe the Democratic nomination will decide the presidency. Clinton wins and she is POTUS because she is up against a bunch of clowns. Bernie wins and the GOP wins no matter who they nominate.

Bernie hung himself the day he called himself the "S" word. The GOP must have their fingers crossed that he wins so they can start running ads like this ...

No offense, Cincy, and I know you speak honestly so I won't say "Really?!" but it's hard to wrap my head around the idea that Sanders is as far off the grid of rationality as Trump.

He's the anti-everything with the establishment of his own party candidate. And he has big ideas with no real, achievable plan to make them reality. Now, he mostly comes at it from a much better place then Trump does who is only interested in his ego. But neither are good presidential material, of course, we keep lower expectations of that so I could be wrong.
Disagree. Comparing him to Trump is way off.

Funny enough I didn't see this before my comment, but it's what I'm trying to say.

But I can see how you think it's not a good comparison overall. I understand your point and agree there.

Really? I just read an article that said if Sanders gets the nod he will win in a landslide. Ok, it was a HuffPost blog but good points were made, especially of his politics being closely tied to Teddy Roosevelt and FDR.

Disagree...it would just give Sanders the opportunity to tell the people what his positions are. Once they see that they agree with him he'll destroy Trump. Especially if he picks Warren for VP

But Jason, Bernie never called himself the "s" word, he called himself a democratic socialist. And if we Americans are too stupid and lazy to learn the difference we deserve Trump or Palin or some other blithering idiot. But I don't think that will happen.

Besides, until we find a candidate that puts environment above all other concerns we are screwed as a civilization and very possibly as a species. This is not hyperbole.

I agree. The more people understand what Sanders is really about, the more they understand he is really not some far left radical nutcase. Things will continue in this direction over the coming months.

I think Bernie has a chance to win. But not because he speaks for the middle class. Because people are pissed at the status quo.

To be honest, Bernie is not my ideal candidate. But one of the biggest things he has going for him is his desire to take politics back out of the hands of corporate control which is and has been the status quo for some time. Once we do that, then we have a chance of actually electing a closer-to-ideal candidate. Why, what they hay, I might even run if that happens!

MSNBC and the Manchester Union Leader are going rogue and scheduling their own debate for February 4. Right after Iowa and right before New Hampshire votes. Good for them. The DNC has underserved the American electorate this time around.

Jason P and RR, I don't think you understand people under 35. We have absolutely zero connection to the McCarthyism PTSD that you guys suffer from.
We aren't afraid of the big bad S word, and since we actually have access to the history that was "whitewashed" by earlier generations (through the internet and folks like Zinn) we can see the reality of what made this country strong. All the protections that we the people have originated in, and are products of, the ideas behind democratic socialism.
Go live in Flint if you think America will be great again under an ubercapitalist.
I prefer clean water, air, and food over money and lower taxes. The decision will always come down to humans or profits, and Most of us stand with humans, which means the S word isn't so dirty to us.

People under 35 are not going to be able to win him POTUS. Check out the following interactive map link. I think Sanders would lose NV, IA, WI, OH, NC and FL to a GOP candidate and that loses the overall election.

Yes, and there will be a strong push to get the young and minorities out to vote.

There are more old people and less minorities in the states I listed. A socialist who wants to raise taxes won't win those states.

Pipe dream Gambsy.Come back down to earth. You have been drinking the utopian kool aid.
    Jason is correct.
Kids are not going to pull sanders thru.My kids are20,22,24.
2 are republican by choice and one is like me an Independent. The young kids I know not just mine would all be for reform of student debt as a main issue but they are still all budding young capitalists. They are hard working forward thinking young adults.who want to make money and not share it with those who may not have the same drive and ambition.Dont work as hard or skate by with money bags Uncle Sam floating the entitlements.

Btw,sanders scares a lot of us with his very vague hands off foreign policy approach. And the tax burden he would put on the small businesses in this country will have the opposite affect of what he thinks he will achieve.

This is all a projection from your own opinion, as Gern is pointing out, the facts aren't in your corner.
The economy, and everyone's wallets, always do better under liberals than cons.
You have bought into a fantasy that was created to get you to vote against your own interests.
If you want lower taxes you are voting for the wrong party, it isn't until the upper tiers pay their fair share that we will stop shouldering the burden in the middle class.

It won't be long before the GOP has to admit that their policies don't work. You can't cut taxes to prosperity...doesn't work.

Bush cut taxes with the same notion that revenues would increase...they didn't. It created massive deficits that Obama inherited and now the GOP is blaming him for the deficit increasing. They also blamed Obama for raising taxes (which was part of the Bush tax cuts...that the cuts would expire) because he didn't extend the tax cuts.

Imagine how much larger our deficit would be if he would have agreed to extend those cuts.

I didn't have a problem with letting the Bush cuts expire.I also don't have a problem paying a little more than my fair share that's how we make things go around I get that.

My issue is that the govt can't properly work with the tax revenue they already have to work with.Ridiculous regulations and archaic codes. If they quit wasting so much on the bullshit.Stop the wasteful and basically un checked entitlements. The huge amount of abuse of the system.Maybe hold individuals accountable for their own actions(that's a concept huh?)Why should I pay more so some lazy fuck who dosent want to work and sits home having more kids, taxing the system, using drugs, abusing food stamps just to get more on the monthly stipend, but I'm the bad guy.Ive never asked for anything from anybody.I expect individuals to be accountable for their own actions.
On top of all that,I read the old mans plans. Not only will my personal taxes go way up,but my costs per employee will as well along with a major bite in the ass from my corporate taxes.Gern like you,I've never needed anyone to tell me to treat my employees with respect and pay them proper.

You again make reference to this "plan" that doesn't exist. Sanders has made it pretty clear that he is going to hit the wealthy for more tax. At least he's honest...the GOP talks about spending a trillion dollars on military with tax cuts. We already know that won't work.

If this country is going to survive it is going to have to start getting more money from the wealthy. If you haven't figured that out yet you have your head in the sand.

Your worried about miserable people billing you for nickels and dimes while life's lottery winners are bilking you out of bills. Doesn't make sense to me. Let the lazy shitbirds be lazy shitbirds, it's costing you a lot less than war and corporate welfare.

On top of all that,I read the old mans plans. Not only will my personal taxes go way up,but my costs per employee will as well along with a major bite in the ass from my corporate taxes.Gern like you,I've never needed anyone to tell me to treat my employees with respect and pay them proper.

Your worried about miserable people billing you for nickels and dimes while life's lottery winners are bilking you out of bills. Doesn't make sense to me. Let the lazy shitbirds be lazy shitbirds, it's costing you a lot less than war and corporate welfare.
Exactly...that's the crap that the GOP wants you to be upset about so you don't notice them robbing you blind.

Gern, your successful in buisness I'm assuming by what you've mentioned.(Which I hope is the case btw )

Give me a percentage of your income you would be willing to give up for these changes if sanders had his way.Would another 12% do it,maybe 15% more?
When that dosent cover the spending free for all and they come for a little more will it be an additional 20%?
Your a numbers guy.You do this for a living.would you tell your clients that rely on you for tax savings and strategies to suck it up and pay more?Your good with much higher capital gains? Your clients are good with a reworking and increase in the death tax?

Let's say I pay 5% of my income toward health insurance. If we went to universal care I could easily pay 5% more in income tax and be break even.

I'm not real sure what "way" you are even talking about actually. But the above is an example.

Beyond that I would get rid of the lower capital gains rates and the qualified dividends rates.

I have a client that had around $60K in dividends that paid zero tax. That's messed up.
