Got tix for the DC show! Fuck it, it's only $22 even after the TicketFly fees. Less than the price of a vinyl record.

If I was still living in Maryland, I'd go too.

If you don't mind me asking, what part are you from?

Snagged a philly ticket a few weeks ago when they went on sale. Should be a good time and I'm excited to see this new venue attached to the new Fillmore.

I have a quick question. I saw some people in this thread talking about Jeff signing stuff and refusing to sign PJ stuff. I could care less about an autograph, but was wondering if Jeff hangs around before or after these shows to sign stuff and shake a few hands?

Jeff is a bass hero of mine and I'd love to get the chance just to shake his hand and say thanks, even if it's for like half a second, hahaha!

See you in Philly! And sorry but I can't answer your question, I didn't hang around to meet him last tour.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

Not meaning to judge anyone here, but I've always thought it rude when people shoved PJ items at the guys when they are specifically playing as part of another distinct band.

Word to the wise - it is about respect. I would bring 1 item from the side project and put it on top and 1 item from the main gig. Doesn't always work , but it is worth a try.

Don't be that guy. I saw the band last time around and Jeff didn't come out after the show. Gee, I wonder why with a bunch of guys with their PJ items to sign. One guy brought in his guitar to get signed. And they even bugged the crap out of Joe and Richard about "when is Jeff coming out". Not a great scene, I thought. I feel bad that The guys in the band have to deal with fans who just want something. I just really appreciate the music and the great energy they put out.

My own personal experience was that I caught Jeff after sound check. After the show, he stayed backstage to talk to his special guests while Joseph and Richard came out to meet with fans. I have heard other people say Jeff came out to chat and sign autographs after the show, I think it really depends.

Should I ever be in a position to meet Jeff Ament (one of my biggest inspirations), I would likely be overcome by my social anxiety and either run away or burst into tears.

Not that I have any full fledged conversation with him but when Unlostdogs and I went to see RNDM last time they were in Boston, Jeff made sure he was available for pics and signatures for everyone that wanted them...
was a super nice guy about everything. Somewhere on this site there is a picture of him and I on that night

I didn't run away or burst into tears...I just stood there with a stupid smile on my face as he signed my vinyl...he thanked me for supporting the band and buying the record, and all I could squeak out was "yeah" image

When I met Jeff I was wasted and barged in on him backstage without invitation and blabbed at him like an idiot while it was clear he was wondering wtf I was doing backstage. I was completely embarrassed the second it was over. Because of that I will never go out of my way to meet anyone from the band ever again.

Aaaw, social anxiety is hard. I hope if you ever have the chance that someone or something will be there to just give you that gentle push NOT to run away, and to approach. If you approach in a chill way, you'll hopefully have a good exchange and value it forever. Jeff is a very chill guy, and as long as you're not hysterical when you approach, you'll probably make quite the memory!

Me, the funniest time I met him, I was a big PJ fan but not so big I knew where they were all from. I was on a road trip and in Missoula (this is like 15 yrs ago) and went to see an awesome folk singer at a college. It was intermission and I saw this man and woman and I was like "Whoa, I think I know that guy! Imagine meeting someone I know here in Montana! Where do I know him from? Did I go to high school with him?" I'm asking myself all these questions as I approach and realize there are several people waiting to talk to him. He pretty much happened to look at my face the exact moment it clicked for me that this wasn't someone I knew from high school, it was Jeff Ament from PJ, and he kinda did a double take and almost laughed because my expression must've been pretty darn funny, like "Wow, high school dude is popular... uh, wait, OH SHIT!!!! Uh ummm shit ah..." I had no idea Jeff was from there.

I agree with Sarah - I can see why Jeff would want the focus to be on the band he is working with and not separating him out as a member of Pearl Jam.

Agreed. It was bad enough that at all the 2012 shows the crowd gathered mostly in front of Jeff. Awkward and silly.
Yes, however if not for Pearl Jam......

If not for Pearl Jam, the shows would be over-run by Joseph Arthur fans. ;-)

(Edited to add: Got my ticket!!)
Pffftt ... Just leave a nice spot in the middle where I can park myself in front of Richard, one of the most explosive, creative drummers I've ever had the privilege to see play. Of course, it helps that he's a super nice dude on top of that. :)
yes!!! I thought richard's drums were going to explode or just run off the stage!! PS joseph arthur is very creative and i appreciate his unique approach to music. Rocks it live if you care to give it a chance. a great trio. may have to go to nyc again.
  • For people who have seen RNDM before, do you have a general idea of when people start getting in line? Not trying to beat everyone, just curious because I need to ask off from work. Thanks!
