Hang in there :) We Canadians seem to feel more war vibes than the instigators I guess, the way you voted.

First Nation people try to think in seven future generations and it's easy to start this when you think of your offspring. I think about several generations back, too, whether that's a thing or not, and as such I wonder what makes these minerals so critical: The cars that killed the world, or our computers, tvs, and phones? How easily we accept that term "critical" minerals. I think protecting mother Earth would be critical.

If the Liberals somehow prevail, I would think that both Poilievre and Singh would have to go.

I haven’t been impressed by Carney so far, and this is the nail in the coffin, ensuring that I won’t vote for the Carney/Trudeau Liberals.

With all the talk of treason lately, this is a clear case, and not dropping the candidate is beyond my comprehension. What would the reaction be (especially here) if a Conservative candidate made the same statement?

yikes. he absolutely should go. we don't do trump/american style politics up here. Carney should full stop tell this guy to resign.

Yah, this is definitely a misstep by Carney. He should have asked Paul Chiang to step away.

would that have been done behind the scenes first? if so, what then if the answer was no? how does he publically handle that?

As I understand it, as party leader Carney has the ultimate power to rescind a nomination with very few limits.

I’m glad Chiang stepped down (and also happy the RCMP are investigating him), but not kicking him out was a failure of leadership by Carney in my eyes. Disavowing Chiang and kicking him out of the party should have been a no brainer.

I guess the Liberals aren't the only party with bat shit crazy people running in the election.

A Conservative candidate who once voiced his support for “public hangings”............

A bold and strong move by Canada.  I am envious of this.  Kudos!

Breaking: Trump Just Surrendered To Canada

You want to know what power looks like? It’s Mark f*ing Carney ghosting America’s Rapist in Chief for three months, and ignored him all day yesterday, cutting America off at the knees, forcing Donald Trump to come crawling back today like the MAGA dog he is.

Yesterday, Canada’s Prime Minister —Mark Carney—severed economic and security ties with Trump’s America. Full stop. No warning. No negotiation. Just boom: "We’re done here."

It’s becoming incredibly troubling how often Carney is saying Canada’s fucked up after the last five years without acknowledging that he was one of Justin’s main economic advisers (an economic adviser to someone who doesn’t trouble themselves with monetary policy). He’s a big part of why we’re in a weakened position in dealing with the US.

That, coupled with his track record of dishonesty (Brookfield hq move, stolen valour, plagiarism in university), along with his handling of Paul Chiang (did Carney ever disown him?) means there’s no way I can vote for him or his party.

His party, by the way, which has largely plagiarized Conservative policies without an ounce of acknowledgment.

I honestly think that Carney’s intention is that he’s running the shortest campaign possible in large part to avoid being forced to publicly disclose his assets. If the Liberals don’t form government, he never sits in Parliament (he’ll resign his seat immediately if the party loses), never has to disclose his potential/likely conflicts of interest and Canadians never know how close we came to being governed by a PM who needs to recuse himself from the majority of government decisions.

I simply cannot believe that you ever would have voted for Carney, no matter what happened.

I was actually going to say that yesterday. No chance you'd vote for liberals after the justin years.

The Carney Liberals aren’t far removed from the Justin Liberals in terms of overall policies. Carney still hasn’t explained how eliminating the consumer carbon tax (with a VERY Trumpian ceremony it should be noted) prevents the industrial polluters from passing their taxes down to us the consumers.

Regardless of where I sit, are you ok with Carney’s seeming facility for blatant duplicity? Examples noted above, which you both didn’t touch, instead offering opinions about me.

Despite what you think, I did hope the Liberals would win me back. Carney was about as far from the right person as the party could have gone. Of the field that was left in the race I had been hoping Karina Gould would have won.

I don't know enough about what you posted to comment. Sometimes I don't comment because I'm not educated enough to, not because I'm ignoring you personally.

And just stating an opinion that I didn't think it was ever in the cards for you to vote liberal wasn't an attack. I would just find it surprising that you'd even consider it, knowing that policy won't change that much.
