I literally have zero desire to cross the border now, as Zod mentioned. It’s a weird feeling.

Was considering the Minnesota yacht festival again. Nope. My concert buddy said the same thing.

See you in 4 years, America.

Only one friend of mine mentioned it. I have noticed, however, whenever I post a political rant, American or Canadian in nature, I get zero engagement. I guess my friend list is just tired of politics in general.

I changed my mind. If this is what’s happening in Canada, we don’t need you to export your sexual predators.

I have a trip planned to Nashville at the end of the month, and am attending a guitar camp in June. Sadly, I expect those will be my last times in the US until leadership changes and sanity is restored.

I think this might actually have an unintended consequence that Trump doesn’t recognize (and likely doesn’t care about): this is going to unite canada in a way usually only seen during international hockey tournaments.

Jean Chretien posted an op-ed where he called for the same thing from Canadian. I'm on board with purchasing more Canadian goods. The scary thing was how quickly Trump has been able to get the world on board with isolationism, after years of promoting global trade as a way to assure we all have strong access to a vast set of goods at reasonable prices. Really not a good sign that this chaos monkey can spread his chaos globally.

The BC Premier got it right, prohibit sales of req state liquor. So Minnesota should be perfectly fine, and Nashville should be out.

Which makes one wonder about the logic of PJs touring strategy. For many years, political fans dreamed PJ would have some sort of political influence, and line up a tour with a fall election. Their recent touring strategy is 100% the opposite of that.

Last year before the election was primarily blue states, this year the tour is all Trump states. PJ shows should be part of any anti red state boycott. /s

I am participating. When going food shopping, Florida oranges are out, apples are in!

It’s not just access to goods. Our connected economies are single most important reason we haven’t had an intercontinental war in 80 years. It’s the longest such period in a thousand years. That’s all at risk with protectionist economies.

Facebook banned news in Canada. Since then, Canadians on Facebook are now mostly bots and freedom truckers. I deactivated my account when Trump came back into office, that dipshit Zuckerberg bowed to him, and Facebook fired all its fact checkers. Get off Facebook now!

We talked about the idea of selling our tix to the Raleigh and Nashville shows this morning but we've decided why let the orange maniac ruin our fun.

However, this may be the last time in the next 4 years we'll be setting foot across the border. Which is a shame because we kinda dig Washington State and Oregon. Great camping and great beer.

I live in Southwestern Ontario in between a Toyota plant and a GM  plant along with various agri-food plants and other industries tied to manufacturing. The people who work in these plants are my family, friends, neighbours, fellow church members. They shop at the grocery store I work at, I coach their kids during the baseball season and my wife works with their special needs kids at school. These are also the people who will be hit hardest once the tariffs go into effect, so while I appreciate that you along with others are against what’s happening it won’t help with paying bills and putting food on their tables. This all feels unnecessary and seems like it will damage the relationship between Canada and the US beyond repair.

it is odd, however, that you think you speak for all of us, not to mention the absurdity of telling americans to stay home (what does that have to do with the president?). "we won't be visiting you and would appreciate it if you didn't visit us". Speak for yourself. Friendly americans are welcome on this side of the border any time they wish.

This is all I have to say about this:
I have a great deal of respect for Canada.  Some of my favorite people are Canadian (both those I know, and those I am a fan of but do not personally know.)  I have fond memories of my visits to Canada, especially when I lived close to Canada for a few years in New York and few years in the state of Washington.  I hope to see your country again some day, but only if welcomed.
And most importantly, I am sorry we (the U.S. as a whole) fucked things up between us, but I am not the enemy and I am not your enemy.

I’m not going to let divisive politics and fear mongering win. I love America and plan to visit three states over the next three months. Best thing we can do during troubling times is love, respect and support each other. Show the bad apples that hate will never win 💪

My apologies for coming across as salty or vindictive, it’s from genuine hurt. In a normal year we visit the United States on average once a month, it’s where we spend our vacations, visit friends and family. I’ve actually seen more of your country than my own, visiting Michigan was the thing I missed most about the border shutdown during Covid. This is also coming from a Canadian who up until it was stolen from my yard flew an American flag along with my Canadian flag in front of my house. Come to Ontario and the coffee is on me.

We have a trip planned to Houston, TX in June to visit friends and see Metallica.  We were also going to do a road trip from there to visit New Orleans.  Right now it doesn't feel right to me to go America.  Especially that far south.  I dunno.. I'll give it time to see if the situation improves.  No idea what the president is up to or what he really wants, or if he just wanted the revenue from tariff's.  It's hard to figure out.  We'll give it some to see how the situation unfolds, but if go into a recession because of massive lay offs and it starts getting ugly.  I don't think I want to go.   Definitely not for the next 4 years.  Who knows though.   This presidency is unlike the first one.  Last time there were people (many of who got fired) that tried to say no.  Now it seems there's no one.  So what happens when he tries to hang on for a 3rd term, something goes to the Supreme Court he stacked, and he gets another term :(

Also the way this all orchestrated is downright efficient and scary, not entirely characteristic of someone near 80 years old.
