An elder representing the Algonquin nation calls the truck convoy protest actions on their territory "unacceptable", and points out that the nation did not give permission for the use of their unceded territory for the protest and associated activities. An Algonquin elder from Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg says truck convoy protesters in downtown Ottawa and their supporters, some of whom have been conducting First Nations ceremonies, are overstepping their boundaries.
"We don't know who these people are," said Claudette Commanda.
"We never provided any permission for anyone to use any portion of our unsurrendered, unceded homeland for any of this kind of rally, gathering, protest or even ceremonies."

On Wednesday, the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan, the Algonquin Anishinabeg Nation Tribal Council and Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg issued a statement saying they do not support the convoy and the actions taking place on their territory were "unacceptable."
Interesting read, but unless they’re suggesting that every group that protests in Ottawa needs to ask their permission (which I would call unreasonable if for no reason more than practicality), they really just have a problem with their fellow FN who choose to stand with the convoy. I’ll admit that I’m utterly unfamiliar with the cultural norms around this.
I had to chuckle reading the statement that ends the article, whoever wrote it has a very short memory, lol. “If peaceful protests of critical infrastructure at Coutts is allowed, then we expect the same to be true in the future should Indigenous people engage in similar forms of protest.” I can remember several weeks leading up to covid taking hold in Canada that suggest they set the precedent.
Why would it be that the First Nation would only have a problem with other indigenous people? Why can’t they object to anyone behaving in a non respectful way in the territory?

David Allen, president of Gary's Towing in London, Ont., said while towing a truck that doesn't want to be moved would be hard, it is physically possible — even if the air brakes are engaged.
Heavy-duty tow trucks can transfer air from their system to the trucks to release the brakes, Allen said. Failing that, they could "cage" the brakes, which involves manually backing the brake off each individual wheel.
"We have all the capabilities on our tow trucks to do it … but I don't think anyone would want to," he said.
That's because many companies who provide heavy towing would be hesitant to risk their relationships with trucking companies, Allen said.

It's true that it isn't about "the vaccination" any more. While the protest started over the border vaccine requirement, it has morphed (or rather, has been co-opted) into a general grievance protest against all things covid, whether vaccines, masks, restrictions and anything else you can think of. It started off grass-roots and then the usual alt-right players got involved and now we are where we are.
I get that people are sick of the pandemic and "want their lives back". Hey, we all do. Unfortunately there's a big component of magical thinking here - if wishing makes it so, then I can just say I want the pandemic to be gone and it'll be gone. It's a shame that the virus in all its mutated glory doesn't respect our wishes.

An Ottawa judge has granted an injunction to silence the convoy horns for the next 10 days, noting that silencing the horns does not remove the protesters' right to protest and that the horns do not express "any great thought". The lawyer seeking the injunction pointed out that the decibel level of the horns is more than enough to cause permanent hearing loss.
