If I know I'm going to a show why would I not lock up the best hotel option, for the best rate, for free?
This is another reason leaked tour dates are a good thing, it helps out us diehards before the masses move in on the action
Us diehards. I like it.
I like diehards much more than fanatics of obsessed fans haha
They can call me whatever they want as I'm in my comfy hotel room near the stadium while they are hiking it all the back to the boonies because they waited. I'll maybe get to see another show or 2 with the money I saved booking early. OCD like a fox, baby!
Unless of course, the venue is in the boonies like many are.

Mansfield threw me off. Seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere. I remember that random little side street across the road from the venue, driving down this narrow road for a good minute before finding some random residential block hidden away and parking there.

Booked in Toronto. My goal Both NY Both PH Pitt Hartford or Albany Both Toronto.
So, I do not mean this in a snarky way, but I have to ask...
What do you do for a living/family life tat this is even a remote possibility? I have a good job, a wife, no kids yet, and a mortgage... I don't have that much free time, vacation, or disposable income that 8 shows is even a remote possibility....
Spending time on these boards makes me lose touch with reality sometimes..
Again, no wonder this band sells out tours... with people hitting 8 shows and spending days following them around I'm starting to wish PJ was a stock traded on the NYSE....
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

I have a good job, but not rich. No mortgage as I rent. But it's still rent. Married but no kids which is a big factor. Wife works as well, average income, she will be by my side for the whole adventure. I have Wednesday's off. So In reality this whole thing will cost me 3 vacation days. NY, PH and Hartford will be traveling home after each show , which is 5 shows. PITT and Toronto will require 3 vacation days. And I save enough money to make sure I could do this. If they toured like this every year it wouldn't be possible. A whole year off from NA allowed more time to save. In reality, it will cost around $2000. Which, relatively speaking is nothing compared to people who travel abroad or your average vacation.

I'm intruding in the conversation, but find this interesting. Since 2010, in any Euro tour/2011 PJ20 and Canada the fewest shows I have done in one tour is 5. I plan my holidays around the shows, I go to the shows then have time to explore the cities and its environs. Tours have taken me all over Europe and a bit of Canada and to cities I have fallen in love with. In Europe we seem to get more annual leave than in the USA, I get 32 days plus 10 days public holidays and because of where I work - up to 20 additional days flexi leave (if time owed). So, that is how I do it!

some hotels don't allow booking until <6 months from the reservation date, so that could be the issue you're running into there
Just throwing it out there, but Airbnb can often be cheaper and give better options than hotels in a certain cities. I've never booked more than 3 months in advance though. In the past I have rented an entire townhome for a weekend for the price of a hotel.

Looking at the rumored dates, I'd still be shocked if they played 22 shows in just over a month. Seeing as they have not done that in 10 years.

Good point. If indeed they try to pull this off, it might be better to see them earlier (FL or GA). Not sure if Eddie's voice will be the same towards the end of such a hectic schedule.

There are some odd gaps, but then again, they haven't played this many dates on a single leg in a while, so perhaps they've spaced out the shows a little more to make sure they get a little extra rest.

Looking at it on a calendar, I don't there are really any odd gaps. There are a two places with two off days between shows, but most are back to back nights and then one day off in between.

Can I ask why we would get an announcement so soon? It just seems way to early to me.
To maximize ticket sales
If they have big plans for the Summer (Fenway/Wrigley) announcing this tour now would free up time early next year to rollout those plans. I believe the last Wrigley show was announced in February.

If these rumoured dates are in fact true, there is no way that they would be this far along with planning a tour only to wait another month to announce it.

Latin America tour was announced in May for a November tour. 2014 tour was announced in May for October tour. I went back to some other tour announcements and 6 months seems to be the norm. With an April start, we should hear something in a few weeks if you go on past announcements.

That's what I was thinking. I also think (hope) they will try to get the 10c lottery and Ticketmaster onsale date done before the SA tour.
