obama not after your guns ?

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Bans of any kind should be a last resort and no one should get perma-banned for a first offense. Godfather is willing to stick to his guns and take a beating - no matter how laughable some of us may find his positions - and for that he deserves respect.callen said:

how come godfather is not banned? he can call the prez an asshat and call for him to move back to kenya, yet some of us get banned for kidding with each other

Sometimes I would actually like to see him back up some of his positions though.

GF, you posted your supposition that deaths from hammers and knives are greater than gun deaths in another thread previously but you are way off base on this; gun deaths far outnumber knife and blunt weapons deaths by about 4:1. Now auto deaths are interesting - the general trend for auto deaths is declining over decades, while the trend for gun deaths is increasing, and in fact in 11 states gun deaths outnumber auto deaths.Godfather. said:
no guns = less deaths, agreed but I wouls also say gun deaths are less than drug, auto and some other weapon deaths like hammers and knives and the gun has played a key roll in the history of the United States and most every country in the world as far as keeping the peace and freedom from being take naway...but without guns at all in history who knows how the world would be,,maybe more peaceful ? maybe not ? humans seem to have a need to kill to settle disputes (not in general) but signs of killing are found all over the world that date back long before guns, as early as the first known (recorded) humans evidence of killing one another for verious reasons has been found so blamming guns for killing is not the answer for me, we the people are the ultimate killing weapon and it seems to have been that way since we have had to learn to survive and we have become experts at killing even without a gun and that's where the real shame lays, us not our guns.callen said:So comes down to all the reasons a person may need assistance with SS benefits. Not sure there's a defined list. So because of that agree with GF that this may not be the best way to weed out incapable irresponsible gun owners.
Now in my utopia all guns would be made illegal. Govt pay fair value maybe little extra and then caught carrying felony with minimum. Oh how deaths would go down.
Godfather.
Drug deaths vs. gun deaths is complicated, since guns are intrinsically involved in the drug trade.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0 -

The more interesting point is why auto deaths are decreasing. They are steadily on the decline because all involved parties are on the same page in actively working to make them decrease, from the auto engineers to the city planners to the highway designers to the legislators, who have enacted things like seat belt laws. Think what we could accomplish on gun deaths if all parties would work together on it.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0 -

let me get this straight.
a guy own a .45 and thinks the government is going to come take it. the government has attack helicopters with sidewinder missiles. good luck dude.
if everyone wants to have their guns so badly, move to louisiana. the state with the most lax gun laws. also statistically the most likely state where someone will die by gunshot.
coincidence?
they have the constitutional amendment that the nra wanted."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."0 -
FYI: louisiana is probably around 7th or 8th in terms of lax gun laws according to the brady campaign. arizona has the most lax gun laws in the united states.gimmesometruth27 said:let me get this straight.

No worries, as with EVERY OTHER president no matter how much babble you may hear it won't change any gun reform in this country. This country love it's guns and what they can way too much to change much of anything. Rest easy ALL will be well no matter what Fox says the president is babbling.Godfather. said:hopefull nobama will be out before he can stir up anymore gun babble.....
