can you please enlighten me and tell me where and when you are talking about? I mean both sides definitely committed war crimes (hello andersonville?) but is the specific incident (s) you are referring to a precursor to the american civil war?PJPOWER said:
He was not supposed to stand behind his generals that were purposely maiming women and children by aiming their canons over the confederate armies and into the villages. Pretty sure war crimes would be considered and justified if anyone used that strategy today...gimmesometruth27 said:
how so? what was he supposed to do? the confederates attacked an american fort.PJPOWER said:
In my opinion, yes, an ass hat. But that's an entirely different argument. And no, it is not because I'm racist or any bullshit like that. I just feel the man could have handled things very differently.Last-12-Exit said:Lincoln was an asshat?

actually i kinda do hope it gets to that point. i am sick and tired of red state hyperbole. they want to go? then go. but before you do, kindly surrender all of our federal property. our military bases, our aircraft, our munitions.PJPOWER said:
I really do not think it would just be one state. There has already been talks of a separate Union of states. Many of those states could self sustain but they would not have to. It would not be a lone seceding state all on their own. Would be great it they were allowed a peaceful departure, but the real greedy ugly heads in Washington would not let that happen.gimmesometruth27 said:
knock yourself out. let us know how it goes when your state loses the federal funding that we are paying for.PJPOWER said:
I'd be willing to take that chance again.Last-12-Exit said:You see how well a separation from the union worked for states the last time that happened.
I really hope it never gets to that point, but it seems to be getting closer and closer...
these red states take more in government money than they contribute in taxes. yet these states vote for people who are anti-tax, anti-government assistance, anti obamacare, anti infrastructure maintainence, etc. if they all left they would fall flat on their faces and eventually mexico would absorb them."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

i am pretty sure south carolina was seceding once he was first elected. lincoln's election was "the last straw."PJPOWER said:

Where did I mention anything about a precursor? I swear you guys make up what you want to hear sometimes... I was asked what he should not have done and that was one thing. At that point most people were fighting merely to save their families from genocide. I am not arguing that both sides did not commit criminal acts, merely that Lincoln was among the many asshats, even though some hold him with such reverence. He assisted in the civil unrest and tried to benefit from it, much like the president today that was supposed to be the "hope and change" and "great uniter" president. It is no wonder that Obama holds Lincoln on such a pedestal.mcgruff10 said:

I'm going to bed. Back on topic, I am not worried about Obama taking my guns. That right has been solidified as inalienable as much as freedom of speech. God bless the USAPost edited by PJPOWER on0

I really think you need to reread your history books. Sounds like some crazy rebel stories.0

dude you mentioned this. you responded to a comment that said (paraphrasing) how was lincoln supposed to react after an america fort was attacked (fort sumter) if his generals purposely maimed women and children. i'm asking if the specific incident that you are talking (generals purposely maiming women and children) about was before the war (precursor) or during the war. not too hard of a question and i didn't make anything up.PJPOWER said:
