Long time fan, but this is my first time posting and Boston 5/25 was my first show. This was show was incredible! Best concert I have ever been too, by far. I don't think anything could ever top this concert. I was sitting in section 302, but I dont think seats mattered at all. The building was electric, although way up there it was hard to hear what Ed was saying in between songs. Mike McCready was awesome. Insane performance! Really got the crowd goin. I thought the song choice was excellent, and I'm very glad i got to hear repeats of a bunch of the songs from the first show. Highlights for me were rearviewmirror, alive, black, and for the new stuff, parachutes was amazing. Didn't realize it was Theo until after the show too. Good stuff. Most fun i've ever had at a concert. Pearl Jam fuckin rocks.
jump out of bed as soon as you hear the alarm clock!! You may also find it useful spending five minutes each morning saying to yourself: "Every day in every way I am getting better and better" Perhaps it is a good idea to start a new day with the right frame of mind.
That was a truly beautiful moment. One I will NEVER forget for oh so many reasons. Thanks for the story incidental_immort.
jdelin...I SAID FUCK YEEEEEAH!! I just got the boots ((THANK YOU))! I'm listening now!!! UNREAL! I still don't believe. I am convinced that nothing will make this "sink in". **non-stop goosebumps from head to toe** It makes me wanna cry how frickin gorgeous this is. Crowd & band alike...really, it was one of THE tighest, most intoxicating group hugs on the planet. *tears* There's magic at EVERY Pearl Jam show...but sometimes extra special things take place...a certain extra something circulates in the air, throughout your entire being. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED IN BOSTON & NIGHT II took that and exaggerated it x a million! Again, UN-REAL!
Trust me, I feel the same exact way! I've been to a bunch of great PJ shows, but the energy of this one was amazing. I've never been around so many fellow die-hard fans, singing every note, cheering, and being so into it. It's shows like these that remind us that life is good.

I thought that I'd write a little about the young girl (age 6 - 8 I would guess) that got her request played at the second Boston show. My friend and I were seated right behind her and her Dad (?) during the opening act. When MMJ finished up there was a quick change over of the stage. During this time the girl and her Dad left their seats.
A few minutes later TD Banknorth employee came down the aisle with a pair of older couples. Apparently they had "friend of a friend" connections with some bigwig at the venue. The usher seated two of the people in the open "aisle" seats next to me and my friend and the other two right in front of us.
He left and a few minutes later a second usher came by and asked the older couple what they were doing in those seats. They dropped the name of the person who got them onto the floor and the usher quickly apologized and walked away. After he left the people were being total jerks saying things like "We should have told him to get us beers."
The worst part was that the couple in front of us had "stolen" seats from the girl and her Dad. When they came back, they tried to make the older couple move. The biggest jerk of the group said something like, "These are our seats now". Luckily the head usher came over and moved the older couple to another area because I was absolutely livid at this point. A few minutes later the band came out and ripped into the opening set.
The girl stood on her seat for most of the show and sang along with the music. It was really cute. About midway thru the show one of the guys up front even gave her one of Mike's picks (what a classy move). She looked like she was having a great time.
Toward the end of the first encore the little girl held up a little hand made sign. It was a large pair of lips with "Smile" for the teeth. Since Smile is one of my favorites, I encouraged her to hold it up. Whenever the lights were up on the crowd my friend and I and several other people in our row would wave and point to the sign. Finally we got Mike's attention as he squinted to read the writing. Shortly later the first encore ended and the guys left the stage.
During this intermission the little girl pulled out some flowers that she was going to give to Ed. Everyone in our section was so cool about it and they carried her up to the front row seats. The second encore started with Why Go and Life Wasted before Ed finally saw the girl and her flowers. He told the security guards to bring her up on stage and announced her to the crowd. Then he took the flowers in exchange for playing her request (it was really cool that he waited until she was back to her seat before he started the song). It was a great version and Ed even gave the little girl his harmonica after it was over.
Thanks for sharing your version. It was just such a beautiful thing to see...and she'll have this great memory forever. At the end, I noticed Ed didn't have the flowers and all I could think was "Please take the little girl's flowers!" I was so happy to see him run back and pick them up along with his notebook.

Are you the cool chick with short dark hair and bandana? Or her 10C friend?
My son and I were had seats right next to you guys before all this went down.
We were the other ones in the 3rd row being moved over for these people.
The whole thing was a bunch of crap.
The clueless security guard came over and made us move down two seats to the left, saying that the seats we were in were the “unsold seats”. We were a little ticked, too.
Then, in comes the older couples. (I said to my son they were probably Banknorth executives)
They were rather obnoxious, though luckily I didn’t overhear some of the ignorant remarks that you got to witness. I noticed the whole thing with the little girl and her Dad getting moved, too.
There was another younger guy who was cool (and I don’t think was with the elder jerks) who was brought in too, and was placed right next to me, so I didn’t have to rock out next to the big shots. The cool guy told me he had a friend working at the Garden, that’s how he got his seat.
The whole thing just irked me.
But once the concert started, nothing mattered anymore. It was an amazing show and we had the best time. It was a privilege to witness the whole thing with Shae getting onstage and how good the crowd and the band were to her. The PJ spirit sure was alive and well in our section that night.

I was the big goofy looking guy with the black t-shirt. The woman in the bandana was my friend Kate. You guys must have been on our left, huh?
Anyhow, the whole situation really ticked me off. Hey, the seats next to us were empty so I can understand them filling them up (though I was looking forward to some extra room). But to kick out fans who had tickets... I'm glad that the bouncer took care of it the right way. Plus, if you get lucky enough to get upgraded like that, the least you can do is be grateful. There's absolutely no reason to belittle the staff (they're just doing their job) or be rude to people who actually bought tickets.

Goofy? No, no. Rockin? Yeh, yeh!
I only spoke to her for a minute, but your friend Kate seems like a really cool chick, and she was very appreciative of her 10C bud!!
She seem shocked to be so close!
Yeh, we were to your left........I was the short chick with the teenage kid!
What a great show, huh?

And the "We belong together" tag at the end of Black...
even more AMAZING hearing it on the boot.
Absolutely.
You could FEEL the connection between the crowd and the band on that one.
It was absolutely palpable!
Maybe it's a biased opinion since I was there, but I think it comes across on the boot as well.
Brought tears to my eyes when I heard it on the boot.
I was completely there again.

Hey, does anyone remember if Stone and Jeff switched spots for "Smile"...because before the song Eddie says Stone on bass, Jeff on guitar....I dont remember them doing so, but listening to the bootleg Im not so sure.

Boston II was my first Pearl Jam concert, and it was unreal. I've been waiting to see Pearl Jam forever, and I can't believe that I finally did!!!
Ever since the show ended and I got home I have a pit in my stomach that I can't get rid of. I think I have post-concert-depression or something.
This concert was the most awesome thing I have ever been to, and I can't wait to see them again!!!!!!
WHAT A GREAT FREAKIN SHOW FOR YOUR FIRST PEARL JAM CONCERT!!!!! I STILL CANT BELIEVE WE ALL SURVIVED IT. ITS HARD TO EXXXPLAIN THE FEELING TO THOSE WHO WERENT THERE. OUT OF ALL THE SHOWS IVE BEEN TO AND EVEN ONES IM ABOUT TO SEE.....BOSTON 2 RULES OVER ALL. AND NO NOT BECUZ OF LEASH!!!!

I'm still suffering from this post concert let down. Two freakin' weeks later.
I'm listening to the Boston 2 boot for the first time tonight.
After listening to Boston 1, I honestly couldn't handle re-visiting both shows right away. I have to take these things in slowly. My head would implode otherwise.
We were such a freaking loud crowd.
And they played unbelievably.
I'm still blown away, and can't shake this big ol' pang in my gut that makes me want to see them again.

Sorry I'm late. Been meaning to join since last month.
I haven't been to that many PJ shows (more than some, but less than my brother -18? holy crap), but Boston II was 'the one' for me. I went to Wednesday night's show, and didn't think they'd match the energy level on Thursday - I didn't think I'd match MY energy level! - but they did. Oh my freaking God. The only way I can describe this concert is that I felt loved. The band, the crowd, Eddie telling us all how beautiful we looked during RITFW... sigh. I've been listening to the bootleg, and I've got 2 favorite parts. 1) besides McCready's solo for Even Flow, the part right at the end of the solo where Ed says "1, 2, you take it", and we all come in with the chorus. He just lets us all sing. It makes me smile every time. 2) The part during Indifference where we all sing "I will scream my lungs out 'til it fills this room!" I love Ed for the fact that he lets us be a part of the band.
My only "grievance" was that some people started leaving during RITFW. All I can say is WTF?? Why the hell would you leave???? Theo's rocking it out on stage with the band, and this is quite possibly the most historical PJ concert in Boston ever! I don't get people who aren't fans.
Dante: "You hate people!"
Randal: "But I love gatherings. Isn't it ironic?"

THAT WAS INDEED A BEAUTIFLOW MOMENT. EXXXACTLY THE MINUTE I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE GUY IN FRONT OF ME. MAN. I STILL CANT BELIEVE I WAS AT THAT INCREDIBLE SHOW....
