I remember that summer of 98. Listened to it non stop during the vacations. ah... the sun, the sea, the beach, the swimming pool, the "teen" was still there when I said my age...
Yield was my first pj album. Love it, love it. Have the Yield poster framed on my loungeroom wall. I love that cover photo. Wanted to get YIELD for my number plate but it was already taken. I actually saw it my local shopping centre. Some yellow sports car has it. I was going to leave a note on their windscreen saying it was a great number plate but thought that was too retarded!
Long time no talk. Hope everyone is doing well. I wish I could go to Europe or even Chicago but sometimes real life gets in the way and you have bills to pay and work and other meaningless shit to deal with.
The weather is shitty today in Philly. Cold and rainy. Almost like a Seattle day.
I really should call out of work, get drunk and listen to YIELD on repeat.

2/3/08 is coming soon........
Do my eyes deceive me...Philly PJ has come to back the YIELD thread. Rock on man!

I heard a joke about Pearl Jam from my friend. Coincidentally the joke is also about the fickle-ness of music and music listeners.
There is a boy standing at a bridge, and he crawls onto the ledge. He stands by the ledge, about to jump off and end his life. Suddenly, a 20-something year old guy yells from behind: Don't jump!
The boy turns around, and sees this young guy, they are about the same age.
The boy says "Why shouldn't I jump? I have nothing left to live for!"
The young guy says "Well what do you love?"
The jumper says "I love music, I guess."
The young guy says "Really, me too! What's your favorite genre?"
The jumper says "Rock... I guess."
The young guy says "Really, me too! What's your favorite band?"
The boy says "Pearl Jam!"
"You don't say. Pearl Jam is my favorite band. What's your favorite album?"
The boy says "Yield, man, Yield."
"Yield is my fave album too! What's your favorite song off Yield?"
"Given to Fly!"
"Really? Is your favorite part the intro or the vocals?"
"The intro, of course."
The young man says "What the fuck?" and pushes the young man off the ledge to his death.

Does the YIELD Fan Club still endorse the practice of buying used copies of YIELD and giving them to a good home?
I've seen a couple lately and wondered whether I should be carrying on the tradition.
YIELD is the truth!

Doesn't Rockking see this as more of an autumn album? Grace may be in on that theory as well.
I agree with you...it's a new day.

to me, the progression of the album is just like the end of winter/start of spring...starts fast like that one warm ass day in march that teases you...it slows down a bit then gradually picks it back up before stopping to refelect on how amazing the occurance of new life is... then it realizes that spring has arrived for good and it's time to be outside and experience all of nature. then as it winds down it looks back at all the ups and downs that are involved in winter changing to spring...to me, yield is a concept album of rebirth, new growth, new thinking ect, and hence, the greatest spring album of all time. ive been listening non stop latley
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...
as it winds down it looks back at all the ups and downs that are involved in winter changing to spring...
LOWLIGHT and IN HIDING are good examples of this.
The breakdown in LOWLIGHT is my favorite...when the piano comes in.

exactly. plus all those yeterdays...i mean there is nothing like blasting yield on a warm weekend morning, it would piss of the neighbors, but they love what they hear!! id love to hear the theory on why it's a fall album though...

Not a very YIELDly day here in DSM. Rainy and windy. Blah.
I thought Lowlight was a late summer song...getting ready for fall. Then IN HIDING kicks in and it reminds you that it's still summertime and you need to get out and enjoy it instead of being IN HIDING. Once the person surfaces (gets out of the house) they are enlightened by what they have been missing.
