I have to disagree, I always used to be for ending the electoral college but I'm no longer in favor of that.

First of all ending it would eliminate the importance of a state. What is good for Idaho might not be good for Illinois and vice versa. I'd want Idaho to be fairly represented in a general election.

Secondly I live in Illinois, our current governor won only three or four counties out of over a hundred this past election. He won. Population voting gives too much power to big cities, often very liberal ones like Chicago, that dictate how the rest of the state works. Chicago is a shithole that brings the rest of the state down and makes Illinois a laughingstock of the nation.

That requires dealing with the detainees. His idea, met with approval from a couple governors, was shot down by congress. Seems he's following the rules. Now isnt he?

context GF. HW had what was liberating Kuwait. W had 9-11. Just something to take into account.

graph of HW's rating throughout his presidency

    here is W's

note the time periods for his highest ratings. Think it speaks volumes of the steady DECLINE in approval rating after the Invasion in 03

Ironically, "Drill Baby Drill" would have been more befitting now that the US leads the world in oil production under Obama's watch.

If there is another country willing to take the lead on neutralizing ISIS I would love to hear from them.

Ron Paul was iced out of the election in every possible way, and if you think he could have surmounted the electoral college then you havnt been paying attention.

If everyone that said a third party can't win actually voted for one, they'd win.

I prefer not to make excuses anymore of why I voted for the lesser of two evils, after all that is still voting for evil.

I'll look myself in the mirror knowing I did what I could to end the two party charade and that I didn't contribute to it.
All that would happen is that a party that a clear minority voted for would be running things. Americans think more major parties would be an improvement. Sorry to break it to you, but it wouldn't be. You'd just end up like us, with an asshole as leader who only 32% of voters chose.
