Another "responsible" gun owner, 17 years old in Kenosha, WI. Guess he owns a gas station too? Not impossible but...........
He couldn't legally own that gun at 17, so I wouldn't call his responsible. Pretty sure hw cant buy ammo either. Yeah, I know, the gun is owned by someone else who is the "responsible" owner. But you were calling him the responsible owner, and he isn't. Just a stupid kid who murdered 2 people.
Yeah, it’s a bit disturbed that this 17 year old was there at all, what are the parents doing?

So, will the "responsible" gun owners be held to account? They should be charged with illegal transfer of a weapon, yes? Whomever legally owns the gun is the "responsible" gun owner and they should be charged with whatever crime Wisconsin law allows. I doubt that will happen and I certainly doubt the "responsible" gun owners on here would advocate for such. And that's a huge part of the problem, "responsible" gun owners are rarely held accountable for their "responsibility." If I were a family member of the victims, I'd be going after the "responsible" gun owner for everything they own and then some. Maybe, after enough "responsible" gun owners are financially ruined and pay a price for their "responsibility," things might change to some degree. Not likely though.
just watched the video of those inept fucking cops let the shooter go after people were screaming at them that he shot them. they even asked him if there were people injured. unbelievable.

And some on here think race doesn't matter when an armed shooter is confronted by police. Unarmed black? Shot 7 times. Armed white having shot a couple of people? Ignored. Armed white guy walking away from the cops, getting in his truck and driving away after shooting up a cigar shop? Shot in the ass and taken into custody to face justice, have a legal defense and maybe spend some time in prison, if found guilty. Shoot and kill an unarmed black man while he jogs through the neighborhood? Remain free and only get arrested when a video surfaces of your "confrontation." Sure, race doesn't come into play. Ever.

I watched that earlier and thought the same thing. But then I also saw a bunch of people with guns and they probably couldn't hear anything inside those assault vehicles. What bothered me more was a clip of the same kid, different video, and the cops are on the loud speaker yelling at protestors to go home because they are civilians, but letting all the people with guns hang out, even passing out water bottles. That was weird.

All of your earlier assumptions sure look stupid now eh?
“Hyuk hyuk hyuk der ersumtuns look stupid now, hyuk hyuk”...No, my assumption that people are tired of their businesses getting looted and that they are going to start arming up to protect them is most likely still true. I assume he is still going to claim self defense, but this child shouldn’t have been there and shouldn’t have been carrying a rifle to begin with so there’s that. I’m still okay with business owners protecting their property with firearms if needed.
so when will trump or any of his bootlickers disavow civilians shooting protesters?
I might get flamed for this... but Trump SHOULD be held accountable for his tweet saying "When the looting starts, the shooting starts."

Remember when Team Trump Treason talked about how it’d be okay to not protect suspects heads when putting them in the cruiser and how a little rougher treatment would be okay? In a speech before the national BOP? But yea, let’s wait for and hold Sleepy Woke Joe’s feet to the fire?
Yeah that’s what happens when there’s weapons everywhere I hope the kid gets the book thrown at him & the parents can rot in hell! Racism starts at home we as parents are responsible for what walks out of your home!
Several people chased him, including one with a gun.
He shot them in self-defense, killing the guy with a skateboard.
But the guy with the skateboard was chasing a guy who appeared to be a "bad guy with a gun." Was the armed guy on the chase a "good" or "bad" guy?
So forgetting race, is this the well-armed utopia we want? There's no way to tell who's good and who's bad. The guy with the skateboard (no gun) saw a bad guy and he was probably right. The cops saw a good guy (which is why you can't take race out of this). A bunch of armed people running around in a setting like this could lead to much more bloodshed then we saw in Wisconsin.
And hey, like cops and white nationalists? Well, imagine a white libruhl bringing his AR-15 and using it to take out cops and counter-protesters.
I'm just not that excited about the well-armed society.

I think Rittenhouse's fate and answer to your questions lies with #1 being justified or not. Most accounts I've heard say the protestors began being aggressive with him, but to the point of lethal self defense I don't know. If the first shooting is justified, then he has a right to protect himself when the mob chases him later. If it wasn't, they he murdered 2 people and not just 1. But in any scenario, a 17 year old should not be out running around with a gun and I'm pretty sure that isn't even legal. So he may face gun or menacing charges or something even if he doesn't get murder charges. Most of the people involved that night from the videos I've seen were white. At least 2 of the 3 people shot were white (I haven't seen a picture of the third, so maybe all 3). I don't think race had anything to do with the actual shooting.
When I first saw the cops drive by Kyle I thought that was weird. But when I saw all the other clips from that night it made more sense. There were dozens of people running around with guns that night, literally dozens. Why would they single out 1 person to stop when they haven't stopped anyone all night? Its doubtful they knew what happened 10 seconds earlier. I don't know if open carry is legal there or not, but even if it isn't why would they enforce open carry laws and let other people burn buildings down? Even though protests have been going on in this city for only a few days, this is the result of not enforcing laws for 3 months around the country. It was going to build up to this point, I'm just surprised it took this long and was a 17 year old. The only weird part with the cops is thanking them and passing out water shortly before all this happened.

To be honest, I don't even care about this specific case in regards to this thread topic (America's Gun Violence).
I just think it illustrates the chaos we could be looking at as we normalize the wild west. That's what I've bolded. Those that chased him; even if he was in the right* how are they to know? How are they to know that he's not just out there tagging people for fun? Where are they supposed to get the understanding that he's a GGwaG? At that point, how does anyone know that letting him be will not result in more deaths? My point isn't about the nuance of what is or is not legal regarding who was carrying what and how. Or even about how the cops should have sorted out what they enforced. It was about the potential for chaos when everyone's packin.' And what if dozens of people had started shooting? Really, they'd all have a good claim for self-defense. Barring evidence of who shot first, can we really convict anyone of anything? Hopefully the gun-lovers are right and this kind of thing won't happen, but it sure seems like Tuesday night was knocking on the door...thank goodness most people were not armed.
*And forget his age and the legality of his possession. Because next time that won't be an issue but the same confusion will be there.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Republican candidate for a Georgia congressional seat and professed QAnon believer, has posted a photo of herself on Facebook bearing a rifle, along with a pledge “to go on the offense” against a group of minority congresswoman known as “the Squad.”
“Hate America leftists want to take this country down,” Greene, whom Trump called “a future Republican star,” says in the post, which includes photos of Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.).
“Politicians have failed this country. I’m tired of seeing weak, Establishment Republicans play defense,” Greene says. “Our country is on the line. America needs fighters who speak the truth. We need strong conservative Christians to go on the offense against these socialists who want to rip our country apart. Americans must take our country back.”
Adherents of the QAnon conspiracy believe Trump is battling a cabal of “deep state” saboteurs who worship Satan and traffic children for sex.
Greene, who has endorsed the baseless theory and made a slew of other racist remarks on video, won a Republican primary runoff in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, last month. Her victory, in a northwestern swath of the state that has favored Republicans by wide margins, sets her up to become QAnon’s first devotee in Congress.
The day after the runoff, Trump hailed Greene as a “future Republican Star,” tweeting that she is “strong on everything and never gives up - a real WINNER!” He did not endorse in the runoff.
