b-b-but cultural differences. Jesus carried a gun when riding his pet dinasaour!
if I saw that I'd walk the fuck out with half my burger still in my mouth.
Meh, as someone that knows a little about firearms, I would have spotted that there are objects on both guns impending the bolts from closing, rearing the firearm inoperable.
Yeah I m guessing they are chamber flags.
Yep, one looks like a zip tie.  Wonder if this was taken at a restaurant where a gun show was going on.
Yeah that is what I am thinking.  Those rifles brand new.
Right, but back to the point, if I knew nothing about firearms, I would totally be all “oh my guuuurd, scary black guns, run fo yo lives”

The point is, you're not making it less insane. You just show how insane has been normalized for you.

Or maybe I am aware of, but don’t automatically overreact when I see a gun?
I agree that it has been normalized, though, same as living with parents forever in some countries.  We are comfortable with what we are familiar with, right?

Doesn’t matter, bolt cannot close.  If it was a fixed magazine like a lot of gun control supporters want, the magazine couldn’t be removed...

Again, context matters and in this case not knowing where this picture was taken, I wouldn't jump to conclusions. I think PJpower, Mace and Mcgruff have made some pretty accurate assessments of what's going on here.

Now, if this isn't at the gun show cafeteria, then apparently these guys didn't want to spring for a case or lock them in their truck which is ludicrous. I'd be comfortable labeling them idiots in that scenario.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I 100% agree with you.  I am all for concealed carry but to bring an Ar-15 in a McDonald's is asinine.

Right, I was always taught not to flaunt or show off your firearms.  That’s where mandated safety training would probably benefit everyone.

No shit, eh? Of course, seeing this in Canada would have the whole place emptied and the cops called. I can't fucking believe any Americans are okay with this crap.

I think everyone here said the same thing about America. I have never once seen anything close to this. Which is why context matters, and why several of us said this was probably at a gun show. Now people walking around with guns at a gun show, not that uncommon.

Okay, but I have seen a lot of evidence of people walking around armed in the US, with no gun show in sight (obviously only in certain states/cities). It does happen. And sometime it happens in the worst way possible. Like remember those fuckers who wandered around outside of the mosque for days, menacing all the men, women and children going in and out of it? And it was completely legal. And then there are those pricks who carry to political rallies in certain places just to make a point.

Yes, it does happen. But most people will live their whole life in the US and never see something that resembles that picture above.
Every once in a while I may see someone open carry a hand gun, but even that is very rare. I have never seen open carry and sort of rifle.

I don't remember that mosque incident you are referring to. If they were really menacing men women and children for going to a mosque they should have been arrested. First amendment doesn't protect harassment, especially in a threatening way if you are armed.

Nope, what they were doing was legal where they were, unfortunately. It shouldn't have been, but it was.
Anyway, I understand what you're saying, and I know it's true. I've been to the US probably 100 times and have never seen anyone openly carrying... although that is likely just because I've been to very few places where you're allowed to do that.
I guess my main original point was, as always, that the American gun culture/fetish, with or without open carry, is the real problem. Not regulations or lack thereof.

Don't be modest, HFD. You would at least stay there to make sure they weren't stealing those worker's hard-earned tips. How would you like to crap your pants every time a customer walked up to the counter?

Just the city slickers would.  Those of us who live in rural Canada have no issues with guns.  I was out with my dog the other day on a little pathway and someone was either duck hunting or just firing their gun for something to do.  I’m guessing most farmers in rural Canada have guns.  And plenty of rural Canadians hunt as well...

b-b-but cultural differences. Jesus carried a gun when riding his pet dinasaour!
if I saw that I'd walk the fuck out with half my burger still in my mouth.
No shit, eh? Of course, seeing this in Canada would have the whole place emptied and the cops called. I can't fucking believe any Americans are okay with this crap.
For the record, the same thing would probably happen if someone saw a rattle snake in Canada, lol
Yes, I know several working class Canadians that are way more avid hunters that I could ever be.  The joke about the rattlesnake actually stems from one of them freaking the fuck out when he was down here and got to see a diamondback first hand :)

Bullshit. People in rural Canada (where you actually don't live btw - I don't know why you keep acting like you live in rural Canada when you're only a 20 minute drive from a major city, lol, as though that makes our entire Canadian experience so different we may as well live in different countries - it's ridiculous. If you live in rural Canada, then I grew up in rural Canada too, so your experience is no different than mine) would be just as disturbed by people carrying assault weapons on their backs in a fast food joint as anyone else would be. We're not talking about hunters carrying guns while hunting. "City slickers" are not any more worried about that than anyone else.

pretty sure a farmer or an avid hunter would still be knocked the fuck off his/her chair to see AR-15's on the backs of two guys at a counter at lunch. that simply does not happen. seeing someone hunting outside is a bit different than having a military rifle in an enclosed public restaurant (unless this was, as stated, at a gun show).

Those are beads of joy, he's not nervous. Big ass rifle worn Chewbacca-style, check.  Getting a #3, check... his buddy is getting the tip for once, check. If they have reclining booths, he's going to put the sweat in sweat socks.

That pic was for an "open carry" rally in Houston,Texas 5 years ago.

Something else that everyone in the group did is put a zip-tie through the slide to show that the guns are not loaded.  You can see it on the firearms.
