I think your statistic on Honduras is incorrect - what I read states that both citizens and non-citizen permanent residents can own many different types of guns. Apparently up until the mid-80s there were no laws regarding gun ownership and guns. Restrictions have gradually come in over the years.

I've never been to Honduras but I've been to Switzerland three times and I can tell you, you'd never mistake it for being in the USA. The Swiss are fanatically law-abiding and totally happy with restrictions. The laws around screening out who can't own a firearm include prohibiting anyone with a criminal record or record of mental illness, only allowing purchase from an authorized source, and three weapons per person.

Some sources I've read say that open carry is common in Switzerland, but I have to say I don't think I ever saw someone openly carrying a firearm there. Perhaps that's more concentrated in certain areas.

it's a thousand percent inaccurate and I apologize for breaking my own cardinal sin: check your fucking sources three times over!!!! forget what I said as after I actually did research I found out honduras citizens can own firearms. my bad on that and it won't happen again. dumb ass Facebook.

    Perfect!

Now... for the record... I'm not afraid of the States- I love it there actually. I've spent time in Boston on two occasions. I go to the Gorge every labour day weekend for 2 DMB shows... my family and I go to Hawaii the last 4 springs (and we just booked Kauai to make it 5)... lots of time spent in Spokane... Seattle for Mariners games every year... and PJ shows in Seattle (every 5 years when they play there)... and I could continue, but I'll stop.

If the damn dollar wasn't the shits... I'd go there more. Sucks losing 35 cents on the dollar every time the visa gets swiped.

10 dead, 20+ wounded is the most recent update in Oregon (the college was a so-called gun free zone, which I'm sure gun nuts will be happy about). These college/university shootings really get to me personally, since I work at a university, and there is always a concern that some student on the edge is going to snap, because there are plenty of students on the edge at any given time (not that I know if the shooter in Oregon is a student himself).

It is nuts, but I wonder if it has to do with the babying of kids growing up. Most kids now are not taught that the world is a tough place. They don't know how to fail or what to do when they fail. Then when it happens their world falls apart and they go off the deep end. I am not sure about the shooter I am just making a general statement. Condolences to their families, no parent should have to bury their child.

I don't think anyone is happy about school shootings, whether you are a "gun nut" or not. I belong to a couple gun forums and the school/mass shooting threads on those forums are pretty much the same as on here. Everyone agrees that it is tragic and steps should be taken to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I didn't mean they'd be happy about the shooting. Just about the fact that it was a gun-free zone. I think gun nuts are weirdos, but I don't generally think they're evil!

34 people woke up this morning. 13 had no idea they would breathe their last. 20 had no idea they would need to learn how to move forward after physically healing. 1 had an agenda.

There was also a shooting at a South Dakota high school, but no one died so the story will be lucky to make page 7 in tomorrow's newspaper.
