    Geez, I'd say the government was pretty patient and reasonable and had every right to show up with an armed army. Bundy is a huge dick and should go to jail for his actions. Yea, some hero he is. But I'd be happy if he just got his damn cattle off of my land.

    And I'd suggest the Feds seize his assets and have the IRS do an audit of him and his family going back 20 years. Maybe he claimed the fees as a business expense but since he never paid them, he might be in a little deeper than he thinks. Jerk.

    The Feds own it on our behalf and administer it on our behalf, so thieves like Bundy don't run willy nilly doing whatever they damn well please, like stealing cactuses or cutting down red woods, all for the benefit of future generations. Mr. Bundy could still be grazing his cattle and using the "public" lands, administered by the Feds, if he had only just kept up with his grazing permit fees. Pretty simple really.     Hate to break the news to you... but, the United States of America owns the land in question. You are free to use the land providing you pay the specified fees to acquire the necessary permits and follow the rules regarding land usage.
    That is why I cannot clear forests in Yosemite to build a cabin and build a fence around it to keep you out.

    Also, there is a difference between Public Property and Privately owned property, in case you didn't know. The government isn't out to 'steal' Mr. Bundy's private property... they are trying to evict him from OUR (U.S. Citizens) property.

    It sounds like you really need to take a high school class in U.S. Government 101... or at least, a refresher course.
    I say this because your question has been answered a bunch of times already. The United States Of America owns the land. This means, as a taxpayer, you have rights to use the land under the conditions set by the U.S. Bureau Of Land Management. It means, you need a permit to use the land for certain, agreed upon purposes. You cannot do whatever you want, just because you have a permit. Go back and read my analogies on campground usage. Mr. Bundy cannot claim that land as his own. That is something called, 'Private Ownership'. His past fees did not go towards purchasing the land... they went for grazing rights.

    You do not personally own the land... just like you do not personally own Yosemite or Yellowstone. But, you know... you are welcome to go to those park and camp there. Also, if you have 150 head of cattle and would like to use the Bunkerville parcel for grazing... you can. As long as you secure the proper permits and stay within the stated guidelines concerning grazing cattle.

    People on welfare don't vote. Do agree welfare becomes a way of life which does decrease motivation and or realities of needing to work or be hungry. There's a balance.

    in a way, i kinda feel sorry for him.

    he is not a smart man. i listened to his press conference live on sirius today. it was cringeworthy listening to him try to make his point AND try to keep all the right wing talking points straight. it was actually pretty pathetic. i felt guilty laughing at him as i was driving down the highway....
