Can someone please tell me just what the hell the Phillies are doing with Dom Brown?

I get it. He's not lived up to the hype. Not even close. But what do they have to lose by putting him in the lineup every night? He's just wasting away at Lehigh. This team is garbage. Call him up. Play him every game. If he plays better than he has before--great! Maybe he can contribute going forward...or maybe some other team will take a flyer on him and you'll be done with him. If he sucks....so what? So fucking what. I don't understand this at all. Someone explain it to me.

he's hitting like .240 there with zero home runs an he doesn't exactly bust it all the time. does one good month he had in the major leagues earn him an every day position in the majors still? I think not. he needs to earn his position back.

I know the hipsters are off the bandwagon but still enjoyable to catch a game at the ballpark. was down there Friday night. was surprised how empty the lower level was. probably the smallest crowd I've seen there. at least it's easy to get a beer and in and out these days.

dude they are a terrible baseball team. they have absolutely nothing to lose by calling him back up and putting him out there every night. sink or swim, one final time. there is literally no upside to trotting francoeur out there but at least there is some, albeit very small, with brown. stupid to keep him in lehigh.

I went to 2 games in the last 2 weeks and they were both a good time....and they were the smallest crowds in the 3 seasons I have been seeing games there since we moved. Very easy to get around and get good seats.
Sorry to report the douchebag contingent is still out in force working hard to keep Philly's reputation as the worst fans in sports alive. (A reputation which I thoroughly disagree with btw - I enjoy Philly fans and there are rabid assholes just like at most stadiums. Although they do seem to be tolerated more at Philly events.)

Example -- Colorado game the Saturday before last....we were sitting on the Rockies dugout and my 10 year old nephew was shocked to hear a thrashed fan about 20 rows back screaming at Rafael Betancourt as he was helped off the field by the trainer....."Hey Pitcher....What is wrong with you, you pussy?! Are you too scared to face us that you fake an injury? You Pussy! You Suck! I hope your arm is broken!"

The guy was slurring badly but people were laughing at him. I dont really judge -- because I wished that he would drive drunk home from the game and hit a wall, his car bursting into a ball of flames and removing from the world another waste of oxygen. Guess I am a bad fan too but at least I dont ruin the time for fellow ticket purchasing fans.

It is strange to see the stadium so empty though.

The love he receives is the love that is saved

i understand that sentiment but you have to make guys earn a spot. if he was performing even reasonably well at Lehigh Valley I'd agree that he should be up here and once he does start to perform there he will be up. let him get it going a bit down there before you bring him back up i think is the right move.

Francoeur is providing a good right hand bat off the bench which the Phils have very few of and has been a good veteran presence for the younger guys. I actually think he has been surprisingly decent.

that type of behavior shouldn't never be allowed. you cannot let people curse like that. the ushers and security has to take care of that. sad that is probably what your nephew will remember about that game but then again i guess it teaches him early how people can be assholes. i think for the most part Phillies fans are reasonably well behaved compared to Flyers and for sure Eagles fans.

i just think none of that stuff really matters for this team, "earning a spot..." for what? a spot on a terrible team? you bring him up and play him simply because there is more to gain, than from playing jeff francoeur. there is absolutely no upside to playing francoeur, or even him being on the roster. with brown, perhaps he remembers what he did in may of 2013 and plays half as well and maybe a team will want to trade for him...or he's a part of the future here. the more likely scenario is that he doesn't---but then the phils are back in the same spot they are now. nothing gained, nothing lost but at least they will know. there's no reason for him not to be up here.

No reason for Brown to be in the minors. Francoeur is a complete waste of at bats

Hit up the beer garden at 9th and wharton this weekend. Pretty pretty fucking sweet. That entire intersection is pretty awesome. The Garage was absolutely mobbed.

remember back when this team was good and a portion of the guys on here insisted it was easy to drive in runs? this team collectively is hitting like .219 with runners in scoring position. yup anyone can do it like some suggested it back in those days.

Going to be interesting to see what they end up doing with Nola if he has success at Lehigh Valley. Like Franco they might want to hold back to start his service time a bit later.

so where do we think Hamels ends up? I still think LA but the AL East being so tight do the Yanks or Red Sox get desperate enough to make the leap?

Ohhhhh boy. No player in baseball would have big RBI numbers on this Phillies team.

Yankees aren't trading for him. They need a couple bullpen arms. Boston is terrible and need a whole lot more than Hamels, which is awesome. Dodgers seem like they make the most sense but do they even need him? From a baseball standpoint, the Tigers probably make the most sense.
