And he ain't wrong. Like I said before, for whatever reasons, these jackasses don't hit when you put them in the lineup where they "should" go, yet put them in dumb spots and they're just mashing.

Also, they're gonna fuck my day up today - first, didn't realize the game was at 1 today instead of 1:35 because this org doesn't like fans. THEN they're gonna string us the fuck along. I'm gonna get there at 1 and then they're gonna wait till 5 to play.

Only took a turner a few months to heat up. Suarez wheelin’ and dealin’ today (no-no thru 6 😀). Schwarber almost at .200

side note,  the escaped convict was now last seen near Phoenixville after stealing a van. someone left their keys in it 🙄.

Still have the first seed for the wildcard. Not too worried yet. Play Atlanta next. Let's see how we do against them. Hoping at least for a split (I think they play them 4 times)

Help me understand....so Mattingly was your favorite player as a kid 30+ years ago...and you rooted for the Marlins while he was their manager the last few years ago up until he got fired last year...alright...now you have such an immense amount hatred for Miami because of that firing that you are actively rooting for their demise and for them to not make the playoffs? Is this correct?

All of this because of Don Mattingly?

Don Mattingly was a pretty good hitter for a few years but damn the ridiculous amount of devotion to that guy. "Great defensive 1st baseman!" Who cares. Was he great at defense or am I thinking of Keith Hernandez? It's mostly just standing there and catching balls thrown by the other infielders or the pitcher anyway.

Well if he wasn't fired, why do you have beef with them?

What if he worked as a cashier at Wawa and then left for greener pastures at Sheetz? Would Wawa then be dead to you forever?!

Mattingly is sort of a tragic figure. Played his entire career for by-far the best franchise....during their all-time worst stretch (not counting pre-Babe Ruth). And the moment he leaves, they win the World Series. While he's gone, they appear in six World Series and win four. Then, he returns as a coach for the Yanks and they blow a 3-0 lead to Boston in the ALCS. And then two years after he leaves to join the Dodgers, the Yanks win another World Series (2009).

Somewhat funny note: when I was first getting into baseball in the late 80's as 8-9 year old, I assumed Mattingly was better than Wade Boggs. I based this solely on his "Donnie Baseball" nickname. "Well if he has "'baseball' right in his name, he MUST be great!" Then I got a Boggs baseball card, compared it to a Mattingly, and it wasn't even close.

Had a bad back for the last 7 years and was a stellar 1st baseman. There's more to 1b than just standing there

Well they're in the stage of the rebuild where they should be winning. So it was expected even if he had decided to stay. But also upset that they got better hitters. Players the signed are performing well. Before they would come and have their worst seasons. Injuries to their starting lineup. They've been mostly healthy. You have fans in Toronto blaming him for losses or players not having a good year. What bench coach gets blamed for anything? I don't even know the bench coach on my team. I looked it up many times and still forgot.

Well he wanted to be the manager of the Yankees but Cashman wanted Girardi. Steinbrenner wanted to give it to Mattingly. But was convinced otherwise.
And Boggs was a good hitter. But had Mattingly stayed healthy Mattingly was the better player.

I just feel as if the rolls have not been the same for 10+ years. It's gone downhill since they started expanding so much.

But I'd still crush a bacon egg croissant though.
