Pitch clock in-season is a good thing, but still not a fan of it for the playoffs. BUT if Manfred hints that it's going to be there, then I'm ok with it IF there's some kind of concessions. Like, I can't have a violation deciding a game. That's crazy. But my compromise would be that each team gets three warnings (or make up an amount) and/or or additional timeouts - like the later in a game it gets, if you haven't used any timeouts by X innings then you should gain more timeouts for later in the game or added clock time (on both sides of the ball, pitching and hitting).
The whole point of this shit was to speed up the 162-game season. That doesn't solve the issue with the playoffs - 1) start games earlier 2) do a better job marketing your players.
A simple solution would be to just abandon the clock after the 7th inning or something. That way you'd have the same great flow to games we've seen during this season for most of the game and then you let the last 2 or 3 innings breath a little more and allow the drama to set in.
Do you know if they do the ghost runner at 2nd for extras in the playoffs?
Ghost runner is gone for the playoffs, thank god. Which in itself is an acknowledgement that it's only there to speed up the regular season.
Basically, below article from June(granted, yes, this is from 2 months ago) says overall the players like/approve of the rule changes, but 60% of players say things need to change for the postseason:
The Athletic polled more than a hundred MLB Players to get their opinion of the new rules: Banning the shift, bigger bases and the pitch clock. Overall, they thought the changes were good for the game. On a scale of 1 to 5, where 5 is the best, all three rules scored around a 4.
“If you’re in the eighth inning of a World Series game, and somebody gets banged on a pitch-clock violation, that’s not really what we’re looking for,” said one player polled.
Suggestions included adding 5 seconds, not enforcing it after the seventh inning and completely getting rid of it.
Commissioner Rob Manfred indicated he is keeping his options open.
“Our feet are not in stone with respect to the pitch clock,” Manfred said on the Rich Eisen Show. “We saw it in the minor leagues. We’ve seen it in spring training. We want to see it in regular-season games, particularly in situations that are high leverage. We will talk about what should happen in those situations. And we certainly have the capacity to make adjustments on the fly during the course of the season.”
Players liked that the pitch clock was shortening game time, but were curious about the long-term impact on injuries and noticed discrepancies between parks in the operation of the clock.
“Everybody runs the clock differently,” noted one player. “Some teams run it fast, some teams run it slow. Some teams, soon as the out happens, the 30-second clock starts. Some teams wait for the ball to get back to the infield before the clock (starts).”
The shift rule was especially popular with left-handed players. “Because I’m a left-handed hitter, shift killed my career for about three years,” said one player.
And the bigger bases wasn’t having that big of an impact on the game, according to multiple players. “I think that one is kind of worthless. I just think it has so minimal impact that it’s not good or bad,” said one player. Another added: “Bigger bases have no real effect. People are stealing more but it’s not because of the bases.”

In The Athletic’s MLB Player Poll, players also weighed in on Shohei Ohtani’s free agency, expansion, and labor conversations. The Dodgers were the runaway favorite for where Ohtani will be playing in 2024. Nashville was the top choice for an MLB expansion team. And despite the creation of the economic reform committee and chatter about wanting a salary cap, the players said labor discussions are not happening more frequently in clubhouses right now.
When Bryce Harper hit that game tying homer last week I didn't hear anyone complaining that it lacked drama because of the pitch clock. Everyone has been playing with it all year - just leave it alone. Possibly get rid of it in the 9th inning.

I vote for leaving it in place...no reason to step out/off 3 times per at bat just because it is post season. Do agree that ending a game on it would be fd
Phils are playing great right now, yall have a good roll going!
For the record, I love it and have really enjoyed the quicker paced games this year. The game, itself, feels like a better product as a result. Most of the time you forget it's even there
However I do understand some people's concerns, especially towards the end of games in the post season.
Still don't understand why Schwarber is our lead-off guy. That's like having Dave Kingman, Adam Dunn, Gorman Thomas, etc... as a lead-off player.
Dunn much better, he walked a ton
Schwarber's been up there in walks this season and last season, so....
Angels this weekend. No Trout or Shoei pitching so that looks good. Although as I recall Angels always seem to have our number.

They do? I barely remember playing this team much lol
Well yeah they haven't played each other too many times. I do remember seeing them play each other twice (back to back) in '08. Which I should have gone to one of the PJ shows instead in Camden. The Phills got smoked, both games.
Looking at this website the Phills have a 4-12 record agaisnt the Angels although they did sweep them last year.

.950??? There's absolutely no way he's batting that, maybe .350, but definitely no way he's batting .950.Maybe that's his slugging?
Also no PJ shows for me, also seeing MMJ at the end of Oct. at the Met.

Bear in mind, folks, my recollection might be off slightly.

I've thought about the pitch clock in regards to the playoffs. Reading some articles, and like this one suggests:

Pitch clock in-season is a good thing, but still not a fan of it for the playoffs. BUT if Manfred hints that it's going to be there, then I'm ok with it IF there's some kind of concessions.
