Where were we talking about the whole Athletic/PHLY thing? Whatever, it is surprisingly fun to say The Failing New York Times when talking about The Athletic.

...what the hell is Bryce doing swinging early after first two guys easily walk? And then hit into a double play? Ugh, at least we got a run.

Proobably drop Castro for another pitcher, but not sure who. But I definitely keep Wilson on the roster over Cave, or even think about bringing Hall up.
I don't disagree with you to put Marsh in the cleanup spot, but with this manager we'll be lucky if they keep him in the starting lineup every playoff game. Friggin' best hitter on the team for a while this year.
I hope we all enjoyed that Lorenzen no hitter - LOL.
Nola got the first 9 guys out. This is going to be an epic collapse coming up.

I just don't know who to put in the 4 hole right now. The answer should be Nick, but he hasn't been great for over two months. Though today he's showing signs of what he could do. And of course the optimal lineup would be way different as well, but they've shown they can't hit when you put them where they should go.
Oh my Christ. First, Nick shouldn't be catching that ball, that's a brain fart. But, two, FUCKIN' A NICK BEAUTIFUL THROW!
I heard Franzke on the radio saying "foul ball, and Castellanos catches it" and yeah I screamed out (in a work office) NO!!!

Did anyone actually sign up for Phly? So far, I don't quite see the point. Basically everything seems free to me.
They say you get access to their "best content"---like what? What content am I not seeing? No ads?--I am not being bombarded with ads currently. Seems like they want you to pay $80 a year for a free shirt and discounts to their events, which I won't attend anyway.....

Yeah, I'm not sure at this point - I used Bodner's promo code for 3 free months, though that's not even the premium tier - which, yes, I still don't know or see the point of. I'm assuming all their money is coming from ad revenue. If all of a sudden articles on the Phils/Eagles/Sixers go behind a paywall then I'll probably pay.
Yeah I'm hoping you can get ad-free podcasts or something.
Got tixx for Game 3 of the Wild Card round.

I'm pretty sure you can watch the games for free via apple? Or at least I think it was that way. Being able to select Franzke for the play by play is great.
again tonight, grrrr.
I'll try and watch it through apple, but not dure how that works and all. I've just tried thru apple tv.

Yeah I like the Apple thing just because of being able to listen to the superior radio broadcasters. But I don't think you can watch if you don't have Apple. Or at least we couldn't figure it out for the first couple innings at my brother in law's house last night.
I think the video is in 4k...but it's really choppy.
Magic number for that #1 spot is 3 right now. If they can win today, Yanks win today, and tomorrow, then they've locked up the #1 WC spot. This would be ideal.
So I think people are overlooking how important Walker has been to this team this year, but....I think you gotta put Sanchez in the rotation over him.
Wheeler, I guess Nola, Suarez. Then... yeah tough choice between those guys.

I think they are decent choices to have though. We don't have a dominant 1, 2 punch this year, but we have multiple capable enough guys for long relief
Great thing about clinching everything tonight is knowing that the Cubs and DBacks will likely still be battling for the 2nd spot until the end of the weekend. Won't get a chance to set their rotation.
Who do we want to play out of this mess? Or is there anyone we don't want to play?
Is it better to play in the Wild Card and keep your guys on point or get to skip it but have a week off?

Well if last season is an indicator, I guess it's better to play in the Wild Card. But it'll probably go both ways as the years go on with this format. Like in football. We've seen the team with the first round bye come out flat in the divisional game and get upset (1996 Broncos, 2010 Pats, 2017 Steelers). But we've also seen teams look great in the wildcard round and get killed by the team that had the bye.
For these Phillies in particular, I think it's a good thing for them to keep playing. In fact, a small part of me was cheering for the Cubs last night so that the Phillies would need another day to clinch the top wildcard.
You want to play the Reds. You are pulling for them to make it and somewhere along the way, play you. Their SP right now are a total gas can. Bully was a strength for 2/3 of the year and now are all worn out, like one of Dykstra's side pieces.
Seriously, though, I think you would be better off rooting for cubs to catch dbacks and for cubs to come to Philly. Dbacks have some good pitching - good enough that I think it could be problematic for any team in a series.
