It's even worse than the usual terrible with McCarthy out and Murphy filling in. And I don't know what the fuck they were thinking hiring Ben Davis. It's so bad. The best it's been was when Rollins got involved.

It would be better if they just picked a different pair of fans every game to do it.

We went to Royal Farms. The fried chicken was really good - basic flavor but super crispy and juicy. I ate a lot. Biscuits were meh. That's it - that's the review.

I had to turn the game off today when Reds were up 4-3 - we went out in the pool for family time.  (I managed to get attacked by some hornets, as well, which always is fun.). The ump was so fucking bad even the horrible announcers were making fun of his strike zone.

closest royal farms near me is like 10 miles away so i don't go there (don't believe i've ever been to one now that i think of it).

Nola back to being bad Nola. Something is off/not right with him this year. Not sure if it's physical or mental but hopefully he gets it straightened out soon.

Gas station fried chicken is legit.

Here's to hoping Nola hits a fucking fiver on the ERA. Dude's been hovering at like a 1.1 whip this year, which makes it all that more perplexing.

I leave the odd review on Vivino. Usually I can smell/taste cherries in the wines - not too much more than that. If you're into that kinda stuff. Vivino is cool because it's real people reviewing wines which I find much more credible than these magazines that I believe sell high ratings.

so anyone here hear Ed's daughter sing on the soundtrack for Sean Penn's new movie?  I wanted to be cynical about it but it actually is pretty good.  Emotional song called My Father's Daughter.  Check it out if you get a chance.

    I'm going to critique.

    Position players
    • Plate appearances instead of at bats - fine whatever.
    • Add walks - I guess
    • Add OBP and SLG - sure
    • Delete BA and RBI's - go **** yourself
    • Add OPS - dude you have OBP and SLG on there already - can't you just add them up?
    • OPS+, wOBA - nobody knows what these are and I'm pretty sure there are various ways to measure them, so hard pass
    • WAR - again, multiple measurements, but maybe
    • wRC+ - what?
    • DRS - um
    Pitchers
    • Keep IP and ERA - so far so good
    • ERA+ - Again, confusing multiple ways to measure, etc., and wait, higher numbers are better? Pass.
    • WHIP - Okay
    • K/9, BB/9, SO/W - Why not just show K's and BB's along with IP and the baseball card owner can figure out the ratios on their own?
    • FIP - I don't buy into this stat - sorry
    • OPS against - I guess.
    • HardH% - that's kinda cool actually
    • WAR - see above
    • Deleting W-L - I get it - W-L is a stupid stat for pitchers, but can't we maintain any traditions?
    • No Saves (before or after) - Great!

    ^^^^ I call a lot of those Stats , Algebra Stats and I barley passed Algebra-1-LOL^^^^ So what is the Stat called X + Y = whatever?-LOL

    wOBA?

I have NO clue how some of those stats work. WAR? Doesn't that stat take fielding and running into consideration? If so, that's a  subjective opinion?  And, how can you give a WAR Stat to players that we never saw like Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Ted Williams, Hank Aaron, etc. etc.??(if it takes fielding & running into consideration).

WAR is supposed to account for league averages, ballpark effects, etc. So someone is determining the ballpark effect of wherever the Tigers played before Tiger Stadium opened in 1912. And maybe those "ballpark effects" are just a matter of the Tigers having awesome or terrible pitching/fielding? Who the hell knows. Bottom line: the guy was a spectacular baseball player, as we can easily tell from all our traditional stats, and an abhorrent person who did nice things for some of his fellow players.

FIP is ridiculous - essentially saying any fair ball hit into play, not out of the park, is equal to any other ball hit into play. Who came up with that idea?
