I mean, everyone on here loves MMJ - to not even try them out?!?

Anyways, just 2 actual seats for the show, so sorry JP I'm out for the lawn seats. Anyone want the 2nd ticket? It's half of $167. CAN'T WAIT!!!

I've also never heard a My Morning Jacket song, so I was a little taken aback when someone referred to them as having hits. A hit, I think, I would've heard.

    Enjoy the show, folks!

I liiiike MMJ and have seen them twice, both good shows, but I think they're a tough listen except in specific circumstances.

I've always believed if they came out a decade earlier they would've been a pretty big time band. Maybe not huge, per say. But the 90's would've served a band like MMJ better than the last couple of decades.

FMe---plenty of great songs to choose from. But if you're diving in fresh, start with One Big Holiday. Given what I know about the kind of music you like, that will probably jump out at ya. I think the Flyers used to come out to that song back in the day, so you probably heard it at some point .

That one is from It Still Moves. Good album. I really like Evil Urges and, might be in the minority, but The Waterfall is fucking awesome (the one from 2015...they just put out a b-side sequel to that last year.)

Their music has really evolved over the years. So Evil Urges and Waterfall will sound a lot different than It Still Moves, for the most part.

I see on the Wikipedia that Tucker Martine produced Circuital and The Waterfall

Might have to give those a listen.

They are the closest thing to a reincarnation of The Band in my eyes.

Juggs - Tennessee Fire came out in the 90's.

I'm just surprised there is this kind of demand for them. I love them, but would prefer no one else to do the same. I want more shows at Penn's Landing.

It Still Moves, Z, and tie between Circuital & The Waterfall would be my first recs for someone that knows nothing about them - in that order. If you've got a Nugs account use it for their live shows & videos. I'd say Okonokos is a good start for a live show, too.

I went to The Tennessee Fire show near New York in 2019 - although quite the misadventure getting there. That there was your deep-cuts fan's setlist. As JP said, I'm ready for the damn HITS.

My favorite is Dondante but that is a burner that may take some time to grow on you. Some songs to get you acquainted: The Way He Sings, It Beats 4 U, One Big Holiday (I've heard it referred to as "overplayed"), Run Thru, Circuital, Aluminum Park, Compound Fractures

Am I missing anything from The Waterfall II? It hasn't done much for me but I need to circle back to it.

    Dondante is that drug.

Also, if you're not a fan of Kermit the Frog singing, then they might not be your jam.

Fun fact - they were going to tour as the Electric Mayhem band and have muppets and shit. And it fucking sucks that it never happened.

Man, I hate to say it but Waterfall II didn't do it for me as well. I think it was because they talked about literally right after the first one came out. So there was like 5 years of anticipation. But....yeah, it was good, just was hoping for more of the experimental type of stuff and that wasn't it.

Waterfall II is decent, but nothing really sticks out - it was unfair for them to act like they had a whole other record when it was more like "we had a bunch of stuff not worth getting on this album". It's a fine low key bunch of songs. I honestly think it was released to just lift morale over the pandemic.

    K so I'm not crazy.

For some reason fan favorites Wordless and Mahgeeta don't do that much for me.

The thing that cements the idea that people from this area have terrible taste is that they like these pajamas/uniforms

I listened to the first three MMJ album suggestions yesterday.  Will listen some more today.
So far, I gotta say it is not my bag.
    Nothing to dislike but just.....boring.
I gotta rock and so far this seems like snoozing music.  Will put on some live stuff today and see if that seems more my thing.
Appreciate the suggestions and I'm glad y'all get to see them soon and enjoy their music so much.
(I like lots of music others probably don't...no accounting for tastes....unless you are one of the smackheads voting for Empire as a better movie than Godfather II in that thread.  A-fucking-mazing with that.)
