Tonight I will likely drink some Jean Marc XO, a relatively recent find -- I love this shit.
2-3 Vodka Rock drinks (use the giant ice cube so it doesn't water down the really pricey stuff) with this and then I am ready to settle in and shovel ice cubes into the glass and keep re-filling with Ketel One (which isn't too shabby!) until I am good and destroyed.
Mix in some of the old green and it makes for a very relaxing evening.
Have you ever read the description that companies come up for to try and make their booze sound better?
Here is what Jean Marc XO is described as:
"Brilliantly clear. Complex, vibrant, yet subtle aromas of powdered sugar, star anise, dried white flowers, cream, and wheat dough are sweet and inviting. A super smooth, plush entry leads to an oily medium-to-full body of delicate anise cookie, confectioner's sugar, frosting, and marzipan flavors. Finishes with a long, graceful wet limestone, pastry dough, anise seed, almond oil, and pink peppercorn fade. A startlingly flavorful and elegant vodka that clearly pushes the limits of the unflavored vodka category. Truly world class, expertly made and unique vodka."
If you have read this stuff, what do you think of descriptions such as those?
What would your description for Water from a cold creek in Idaho look like? Or another favorite beverage?

Chad,
I have read here that you are an avid swimmer. What places would you like to go swimming recreationally or on vacation apart from where you do your swim work out?

open water swimming... i'd enjoy trying the english channel's 21 miles, england to france. cold water training, cold water showers, long hrs in the drink training for it, educate one's self on water currents as different times of the month or year may make one's swim easier or more difficult.
no sharks but maybe some jelly fish of some kind & ship traffic
calm endurance is key & it can happen
mind over matter
piece of cake
it's only a swim, it's only some water
even if it takes two days, that's not all that bad... & success

You are American so you will be fine. I know this is the ultimate test for swimmers but I was hoping for a more tropic environment for your dream swim. But your dream isn't mine, watch out for jelly fish.

Motorcycles. I have always loved motorcycles and have owned a few in my life. Although I have a fond interest in all manufacturers of two wheeled excitement, I have only owned Harleys and my dad has always owned Japanese cruisers. I wondered what your favorite type of motorcycle ever made was or if you have a preference?

motorcycles, nice
what kinda bikes have you all had, oysterjar?
i've had a handfulla bikes over the years. my most recent was a honda goldwing that i picked up used. the very evening on the day i bought the thing the stator went to shit on me.

this is a 1994 honda 1200 goldwing's stator
these bastards are costly to replace
im no mechanic so bike shops enjoy the wallets of idiots like me
http://motorbike-search-engine.co.uk/classic-bikes-2/dr400s.jpg
1980 suzuki dr 400
i've purchased several of my motorcycles when i was young & had a summer job detasseling corn
this here is one of my favorite badass powerful bikes
trails through the woods, creeks fulla water, hill climbs, street, highway, fields, mud, sand, chased by the law often & im a idiot for ruining things. after awhile it had no brakes & never replaced them as the thing has gears for brakes, burnt oil like a mad man & after years of abuse, wrecklessness & neglect the thing up & quit on me & was torn apart & used for parts
one cubic metric ton of compression in these here things as they have a compression release cable thing up next to the clutch
pull it to make for easier (kick) starting or pull it when running to kill the engine

another bike i bought from summer working under the blazing sun & rain clouds.
honda cb 360
have no idea the year but this bike here look pretty much exactly like it
i've had two honda 360's
honda 360's are capable of 120+mph easily & can be red lined all day long... that's what 10,000 or more rpm's?
here i am age 15 or some shit flyin down the highway, no license, no nothing & gettin it
pretty ridiculous

the green honda 360 i had
mine didn't have the carrying rack back there
http://www.cyclechaos.com/images/thumb/3/36/Hodaka_175SL.jpg/250px-Hodaka_175SL.jpg
here we have another bike bought with my summer hours spent working
seems i may have bought more than one bike with my summer jobs
i know i even bought my brothers each a bike too
i think the old man fucked me over as he was my banker holding on to my funds
i think he used my money to buy my brothers each a bike instead of his own money
the hodaka 250
i have no idea the year but this one here is pretty close to resembling mine
a 2 stroke plug fouling, over heating, irritating, heavy ass prick
but it was fun climbing up hills out in the woods on trails being an idiot with my palshttp://www.sporty-ironheads.com/ironhead_1980/images-hd0313/1980_XLH_Harley_Sportster_Ironhead_468x354.jpg

harley 1200 sportster
he'd let me borrow it often to take my girl friends for rides

my middle brother had one & i'd use it all the time
just a wonderful bike
it's been a good 10 yrs since i've had a bike or even got on one

Chad,
That is a lot of bikes! I particularly like the green Honda cl360. Those high pipes are cool. That Goldwing is a monster, such a big bike. My father had many bikes as a kid and bought his last bike the year I was born. He bought it brand new and never got rid of it. My old man likes to keep stuff and never let it go and so it is with his bike that he hasn't rode in over a decade.
I have heard of the stators going bad often enough. That might be what is wrong with my old mans
I am terrible with saving pictures but I will post likenesses of the bikes I have owned:
My old mans bike (exact replica)
My first bike (close enough before I added some stuff to it)
My second bike (similar handle bars, different color)
My last bike that I owned for a total of 3 months before selling to by a house (exact replica)
I have since changed tastes and I prefer the looks of these bikes:
I bought my first bike, sportster 883, when I came home from my first deployment. I loved that thing and should have never given it up. I started working as a salesman for a local Harley Dealer and that started to cure the brainwashing of Harley only riders. A lot of people don't own or know anything about Harleys but they buy a $500 leather jacket that says Harley. I pretty much stopped purchasing anything HD after working there. As for riding as a kid I could never convince the old man to let me get a bike. I would say well you had one at 16 in which he would reply "yes but I never did this, this or this (all the bad things I did as a kid) and you aren't responsible enough" My kids are really want a dirt bike but I haven't purchased them one yet.

love all your bikes. the last three rock. want is the name of the crotch rocket lookin thing with the harley engine? those are beasts. they look kinda like that bmw you posted .... i remember now, 'buell'
http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/4969_20091129163254_L.jpg
i know a guy with a buell very much like this one here
frickin wow, man! rad fucker
how old are your kids? you were in the the military. you know what work ethic is all about. summer job = motorcycle $$$
stick a boot up someone's rear end @ 4am. they'll wake up & before they know it, bam... they have cash for a bike
doesn't have to be new. there isn't a kid on the planet who deserves a brand new motorcycle.
same with cars -
drive a pile, get the girls...
enjoy your afternoon, sir
by the way, which military were you in?Post edited by chadwick onfor poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

yes full dressed goldwings are quite big. not a whole lot of fun picking one up off the ground as a guy may have let it go while muscling it up on its center stand. fuckers are not light.
loading & unloading one into the bed of a pick up truck isn't exactly a good time either. your dad's goldwing is fantastic
i like a kawasaki 900
80's-90's maybe even late 70's models
those bikes scream
what are the 3rd from last & last bikes you posted up there?
the very last bike is just wonderful
i've only ever ridden a bicycle with ape hanger handle bars & the only chopper bike i ever rode was a chopper bicycle.
they were both not my cup of tea
strap a motor between my legs & it may have been great

My boys are 11, 7, 4. They aren't quite ready for work but the oldest is getting close to doing some neighborhood yard work/shoveling for cash. Its the 7 year old that wants one, which age is a different story altogether, but he thinks he can just get on and ride like there is no skill involved. I started having a summer job outside of the house around 12 and held one thereafter.
Soon enough for them I guess. They will learn the extra benefits of working hard and having wheels.
I have been in the Army National Guard for 12 years now. 2 deployments and I was on active duty with the national guard for over 9 years.
I dropped a Harley ultra classic on the showroom floor in front of my boss. That was heavy and he wasn't happy. I couldn't imagine trying to lift something like that on my own. I got to ride a new gold wing full dressed and fully accessorized and it balanced like a dream. I was impressed but was very nervous of dropping it too.
Eric Buell took Harley technology and improved the performance of it. Air cooled v twin rockets. Quite a machine. I rode one that was a demo at the shop and loved it. The frames on the later ones was the fuel tank to. To much plastic for my taste though in the later models but great machines. I liked his earlier models.
1996ish buell
The bikes are:
1. 1978ish Honda CB750 remade into a kind of café racer. This model bike is currently my favorite older style bike.
2. 2014 BMW R nineT. Cool looking little hot rod.
3. 1970's Harley shovelhead I believe completely made over. I really like this one two although the handle bars look like they would be tiring.
I like a more stripped down bike now. Not a fan of the flash and chrome as I was before. I have been looking for a 1970's Honda cb750 to strip down and make similar to the green one above. Take all the crap off that it doesn't need to move forward.
I can't see a chopper bicycle or ape hanger bicycle being conducive to the riding experience. I would agree that that would be a turn off. As far as for moto-bikes they are ok. Too high and away from the rider becomes horrible but at just below shoulder height and tilted just enough back towards the rider they aren't bad. I hope you have enjoyed your weekend.
I also really like this one:Post edited by oysterjar on

those two bikes are fantastic. i believe i heard that a frame was also full of gas from the gas tank. frickin crazy nuts
one day i'm getting another scooter of some kind. i am also a bit hesitant as i don't like hurting myself like that anymore. i've rolled, slid, tumbled & rolled, slid & tumbled down the highway or street or trail a few times. highway being not good.
culvert meeting 3-wheeler front end... not nice. today im a walking painful pile of junk. heck i can't even sleep decently because it hurts to lie there. shoulders, back, knees, neck. so i think im quite apprehensive but could get over that real nicely when the time is right
where did you do your two deployments?
all three of your kids boys?
