Some of these contracts being given out are absurd. Mike Conley gets 5 years, $153M?!? Mozgov got 65M for 4 years and Evan Turner got 72M for 4 years. Mediocrity pays big in the NBA!

That it does. That said, I will always say I'd rather have the money go to the players over the owners
how about.....both those groups get less and the average joe can actually afford to sit downstairs? crazy thought, I know.

I would imagine, tho, that you could find some cheap sixer tickets on stubhub. yes?
I don't entirely disagree but Supply and demand....

Also almost none of this money is really coming from ticket sales

I think you're right about that, so why can't they make games a little more affordable?

Yep. Basketball prices are ridiculous. And the only way to see a basketball game in person is sitting downstairs. Basketball from the upper deck is awful.

Durant's decision is so much worse than Lebron's:

Durant is joining the team he couldn't beat, even though OKC were up 3-1
    Durant criticized Lebron's decision
Durant is leaving a powerhouse of a team who COULD actually win next year (with him)
Durant is going to the team who last year had the most wins of all time and the year before won the title

Durant will win or two with GS then go somewhere else with an insane contract (probably either DC or back to OKC).

It's his choice to join them and now that he has I guarantee you one thing he will not end his career in GS.

Also just because he has joined GS, there's no guarantee they'll win in his first year in GS. IT takes time for them to come together and win......just wait and see. I think the Cavaliers have a better chance of winning it all again barring any major injuries.

I'm probably the biggest lifelong Warriors fan on this board and I get that they are now the new NBA villains. As an NBA fan I hated when LeBron left for Miami. I thought the new CBA would prevent another Super Team but this one formed because Steph is on a dirt cheap contract and they drafted Klay and Dray. Plus the cap exploded. Bottom line, this sucks as an average NBA fan. As a Warriors fan it's amazing, I guess I get how Yankees or Lakers fans feel. I'm not going to apologize for them being great, as a fan it's what you dream of. As for the league it now becomes a two team race. Cleveland is still the huge East favorite even with Boston getting better. This makes the West way less appealing. Thunder were going to challenge the Warriors but no longer and the Spurs don't have the firepower to hang. Maybe the Clippers or Trailblazers can make a little noise.

On the court it's going to be fascinating to watch. I expect Steph to go back to playing a real point guard position. I see him averaging around 10 assists. I expect the focus of the offense will be getting shots for Klay and KD. A nice benefit will be they are playing on the Olympic team, minus Steph. I don't think chemistry will be an issue and that's ridicolous to say with players this good.

This guarantees them nothing, injuries and other factors will determine who wins next season. Also their depth will be a lot worse. Bogut is likely going to be traded and Ezeli is gone. How abut Dallas getting stuck with Barnes at the Max? That sucks for them. Lastly I'm happy for all the old Sonics fans. Clay Bennett finally gets the karma he deserves after screwing Seattle.

Jordan, Barkley, and Magic criticized Lebron for "joining up" with Wade. They didn't even mention "the decision"

I bet the old fogies will criticize KD, but this is so not worse than LBJ's decision until the throw a victory parade without any victories.

Barkley is just bitter that he never won a title. Magic joined up with a team that was already stacked and a history of dynasties.

Big difference with how long it will take to integrate Durant than Lebron. When Lebron went to heat Bosh also went with him. Heat had to alter their style to fit those 2 in. Warriors will slide Durant into Barnes place and leave system in place. Things need to be tweaked as Durant needs the ball a lot more but over all style doesn't change. It will take some time but all will ironed out in the regular season.

The Warriors didn't need Durant. I hope it helps them though.

Does anybody else see the Warriors changing their style of play? Largely enough that it makes them worse?

It will only enhance their style of play, hence why Vegas just installed them as huge title favorites. Durant plays the same position as Barnes only at a WAY higher level. It takes a ton of pressure off Curry and Thompson making them fresher in the playoffs. Go back and look at how many wide open shots KD got for Roberson and Waiters by posting or driving and kicking out. Those wide open shots will now be going to the two best shooters in the league. The biggest problem now is their frontcourt depth is bad. A team like San Antonio with Gasol or Memphis could create some problems for them. With that said when they now go small it's going to be insane. Their small ball line up was one of the most efficient ever and they just added a top 5 player to it.

no, I didn't hate the warriors before. I half liked them but, being an Ohio native, I was rooting for cleveland. then, the warriors got kind of sulky, so that made me dislike them a bit.

that said, the list of teams I "hate" (in all sports) IS pretty long. if you are based in LA, you go to the top of the list.

Being a Cleveland native, anything Pittsburgh is at the top, along with the traitorous Ravens. But the Warriors definitely got under my skin this year. This will worsen it.

KD was a FREE AGENT. He can go where he wants, just like LBJ or any other player in the NBA.

It's a little bizarre going to the team that just beat you in 7 during the conference finals. Why not find that one player to get you over the top? Doesn't make sense.

Nothing bizarre to me. Not when he's a FA. I don't think what happen during the season/playoffs, has anything to do with a FA's decision of where one want's to go play. 2/$54 MIL to go to a team that has a great chance to win the Championship, makes no sense?>LOL

It makes good sense if a player such as KD who wants to win a great probability to win a championship. The only issues could an injury and when you join up with other mega stars it weakens a teams bench. The team has to rid itself of players to make room salary wise to take on the new addition. I still can see Cleveland beating them once again barring any major injuries.
