How do you describe something that over the course of three full hours, 180 minutes of music, literally makes you speechless? Perhaps the best way to start is saying THANK YOU. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you PJ for delivering a show I will remember for the rest of my life. I've been so blessed to see so many shows, and so fortunate to be at memorable shows like Randall's Island night 2 '96, all four Philly Spectrum '09 shows, even front row for MSG 2 2010. This show was in the same stratosphere. Instant Classic? Uh, yes. If ever there was such a thing, last night was the definition.

I remember leaving Philly 3, 2009 and saying, there's no way it could ever be better than this. MSG 2 2010 I felt the same way, but without words to convey true feelings after the show to friends texting me from Australia, Seattle, Montana... Sometimes it's just hard to put into words... Last night ultimately became the same thing, but Ed's speech before Betterman may have been the best way to start... How many of us have friends that look at us like we're nuts for traveling and seeing the band multiple times on tour? Have you ever really been able to convey why we all feel so passionate about the music? I know I've tried for years, even with my wife, but they never really got it.

Ed's speech about so many of us being broken at some point, and getting ourselves fixed, together, over the years, deeply in debt to the music for helping daily along the way, year after year... That says it all. Even the message in the music, themes that have changed over the years, as we've all grown up. From the feeling of anger and immortality to now appreciation of life, happiness and mortality. This show covered the spectrum of all of this....but, BUT, with all of the energy and passion of a collective 17,005 piece band.

Some shows you end up remembering a couple songs, great shows, of course, but some songs stand out, and that's what you remember. Last night the ENTIRE show stands out. So many songs from my ideal setlist, and delivered with a punch. All energy, HIGH energy.

Pendulum, Wash, Nothingman - Great patient way to start with Ed sounding great. Lightning Bolt - I cannot wait to hear this version on the bootleg. Extended Mike solo. Just awesome. Last Exit is always great to hear, not played enough... In Hiding - LOVE this song, especially when you have an incredible crowd singing along. At this point, you just know, we are all in for something truly special. This show is only getting better. Sirens sounded very good too.

The run from Present Tensee - Rats - Immortality - State of Love and Trust - Once - Given To Fly - Betterman. In-f'ing-credible. Like a TKO. This ended the best first set I have ever seen. No question. Oh, the sound was fantastic the entire night.
Footsteps - Yellow Moon - All Those Yesterdays - Just perfect. (Disclaimer - I've been practically dying to hear Long Road. 0 for my last 54 shows now, so I was really hoping for Hard To Imagine and Long Road here. ...Not in the least bit disappointed.) The songs were played so tight, sound so good, it was a privilege to be in attendance.

Then Evolution - Go - Porch. Stone was SO into Porch. It's so great to see Stone into the music... Again - similar to the energy ending the first set. Go is my FAVORITE fast, heavy song. If, when, I ever get to 100 shows, if Ed asked for a song request, it would be Go. A very good friend had a similar experience at his 100th show in Poland - and he asked for Whipping. That's his Go. Well, we were there together and what starts the next set? Whipping. Squeeze Porch in between and we have our ultimate one-two combo. Followed by an intense version of Blood! Are you kidding? It's now pretty much unfair for anyone not in attendance.

Leaving Here was a pleasant surprise. We're now at 30 songs and just over 150 minutes of music. What do we get next? A solid, non rushed version of Black, with a great Mike solo. Then Alive, Rockin' and Yellow Ledbetter to close.

The ideal setlist... what are the songs that are the soundtrack to your life? For me - Release, Long Road, Oceans, Hard to Imagine, Nothingman, Go, In Hiding, Present Tense, Immortality, Once, I Got Id, Black, Blood, Alive, Given to Fly, and Fatal - all on mine, and I heard nearly all of them last night. Without question, one of the best concerts I have ever attended. If there was a way to surgically cut and sew in Release, Oceans, and Chloe/Crown of Thorns from night 1, and add in Long Road, Hard To Imagine, and Fatal, I'd have sworn I'd died and gone straight to heaven. I'll close the way I started, it's the only way I think appropriate. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Real interesting show. Really a bunch of fun. Slow songs, fast songs, it didnt matter, they were killing everything. Had a blast. I gain more respect everytime i follow them for a couple shows in a row. I did 4 shows in 5 days, im exhausted, i just dont know how they do it.

I am in awe of tonight. I'm not even going to try because there are just no words. It's just a smile, a chuckle, and a shake of the head. I don't know if there is an author alive who could put this feeling into words.

When the boot for tonight comes out I'm going to buy it in every available format, so that when he/she is old enough I can play it for my future godson/daughter and tell him/her that this was the first PJ show he/she ever attended with me, while in utero at 4 months to the day. Then I'ma make the little fucker understand exactly how special this setlist was

Enjoy Philly everyone. See you on Friday.

Congratulations. Both on the baby and the show. That's one lucky baby in utero.

You were also planning to do the Big Day Out shows in Australia and NZ, rite? So I think that baby will have seen more shows than me, before being born.

I am going to the BDO shows, but my friend who is pregnant will not be going with me. And thanks! I really hope they have a PJ merch tent for BDO because I didn't have time for the merch stand tonight.

I still can't put last night's show into words that do it justice.

  • One word: WOW.

That's about all I have right now.

Now that I've slept, let me elaborate more...

Regardless of sitting up in 210 and it being so steep the point where you cannot move at all, regardless I was probably the only person singing and dancing so far up in my section (and fearing I was going to fall forward the entire time), regardless of all the people smoking pot all around me, regardless of the drunken assholes who would not stop yelling/talking during every song behind me...I had a fucking blast rocking out to every song.

I have NO voice. I sound like a man. My entire body hurts but fuck, last night was incredible. I brought my friend to her first PJ show. She really only knew Even Flow, Alive, Betterman, and RITFW, but she says she had a blast. And I hope so. Don't know if there's a better first time Pearl Jam show than that. Because that was one for the ages. I just wish I could have sat closer and rocked out with all the hardcore fans!

Pendulum is such a haunting opener, I can understand why the guys want to stick with it. And fucking WASH to follow?!?! Was NOT expecting that! :D And into Nothingman...just, wow. Knew it was going to be special with those 3 to open. LB -> MYM -> LAST FUCKING EXIT!!! -> Hail Hail -> In Hiding -> Down was SICK! Pretty sure I didn't stop dancing the entire time! STOKED to hear Present Tense. One of my favorite songs. And Rats?! AWESOME. Immortality -> SOLAT -> Once -> Given To Fly -> Betterman to close the first set was amazing. What a great first set. The encore had a lot to live up to but it blew it out of the water. Fucking FOOTSTEPS. HOLY SHIT. Into Yellow Moon was brilliant. Might be my favorite off LB. DTE -> GO! -> a fucking MINDBLOWING PORCH...no words. And the second encore...Whipping into MOTHERFUCKIN BLOOD. I'm pretty sure Blood was the song I lost my voice on. MIke killed me on Black. Amazing solo. And Alive -> RITFW -> YLB to close...a perfect way to end a perfect night.

I can't get over how great the new album sounds live. Hell, how great the BAND sounds live. The band is so tight. Mike McFucking McCready blew me away. McMelted my McFucking face off! He was on another planet last night. And Ed sounds pretty damn amazing for a 48 year old smoker. Watching Ed knock the lights towards Stone was hilarious but I got scared because it looked like he hit him on the head. haha. You could clearly tell the guys were into it all night. The crowd had so much energy and the band gave it right back.

It was also great to meet @FrankieG!

Just an amazing, amazing show. Anyone have a fan recording yet?

Brooklyn 1 and 2 are absolutely MUST have boots! Incredible 2 nights I will never forget. I'm a relatively new Pearl Jam fan, and these past few nights (including my first show - Worcester 2) have been...beyond words can comprehend. It feels like it didn't even happen and I'm sad it's over, but these are memories for a lifetime and I'm going to love this band for the rest of my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Last night was absolutely one of the best Pearl Jam shows I've been to over the past 22 years. A few years ago, I promised myself that I'd never miss an NYC show if I could help it, and last night was the perfect example of why that promise was so necessary: the audience in NYC is un-fucking-believable. As Ed said last night, if the band had any enemies, if they saw the audience on Saturday night, they couldn't be enemies anymore. That crowd was so amazing. I was feeling a bit under the weather, but I lit up and couldn't stop smiling any time I saw someone in the audience losing their shit. you people fucking rock.

The band was on fire and the setlist had such an incredible flow. I love how Ed added Leaving Here in response to the woman in the front row's t-shirt that said Every Mother Counts. Such a super positive woman-supporting band. LOVE IT! I also really appreciated the acoustic start to the first encore. FOOTSTEPS! In 22 years and dozens of shows, i'Ve only heard that one a couple of times.

I agree with the person who said it's disappointing when EV fucks up the lyrics. I means, i know that the fuck ups are what make live shows special sometimes, but there were a few more than I cared for last night. Last night he fucked up the words on several of my favorite songs, and I just want him to suck it up and get a teleprompter like Bruce and other artists use. If *I* know all the words, how can he not?

But everything else far outweighed that lone negative for me. It was really an incredible show. 3 fucking hours! now I kinda don't want to go to any more shows on the tour because I don't think they can top it.

There was an idiot that bumped into my bf on purpose knocking his beer out of his hand, then was laughing about it. BF chased him down to the mens room and I was like oh no....a fight over this??? Head of concessions came over, said he saw what happened and offered another beer. Great way to diffuse the situation IMO. Then he gave us his card and said if we ever come back let him know and he would take care of us.
I was happy, bf was happy and I'm going to write a letter to Barclay about the outstanding thing this guy did. Really classy way to deal with something that could have gone bad. He knew that other guy got away with being an asshole but what can ya do? they're all over the place.....If it was an accident or the guy was like sorry dude, no problem. But really...that was just uncalled for. Even I wanted to punch him in the face.

Otherwise we had a great experience at this venue and would go back there again in a heartbeat.
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!

  • I was up in 210 with you, Row 15. Long distance from my 118 first night seats. Holy Vertigo Batman!!!

The energy for last night's show was much higher than Friday's.

I was shocked how good the sound was up there after I was told that it would not be by an usher when I asked on night one.

Tremendous pair of shows. Although I like the MSG 2010 Show 2 slightly more. I thought that version of Better Man was one of the most musical poignant moments I've ever been a part of. Last night's version was a close second.

I've been seeing this band for twenty years but this weekend tops just about everything I've ever seen from them.
I was at the Spectrum 4 in 2009, and PJ 20 at Alpine Valley, London Ontario in 2013 and London England in 2007, and my first show was randall's Island night 2, but this weekend will always be in my mind as one of the best double show poundings I ever had from these guys.
After my wife and I went to night one, I thought I could go without seeing night two, since I didn't have a ticket, but my wife said I should go, I'd get a ticket, and I'd regret it later if I didn't...I guess that's why she's my wife. She knew and she was right.
I went to the pre-party, and what do you know, all my favorite Pearl Jam fans and friends were there! Josevolution, decides2dream, Alan, Shayne, Gina, Anthony and Alise ... needless to say I got a ticket, but there is just so much more to this whole fucking trip than getting into a show and rocking your ass off. Now, in 2013, these are the songs that have been the soundtrack of my life for so long, and these are the people I have enjoyed them with, and that makes it all hit just a bit harder.
I wound up saying this a few times last night, maybe because I was high, but it still rings true today: I love a band that makes me cry and makes me pound my head in the same evening!
My name is Gregg C. and I have a problem ... I am an addict. But I'm a happy one! Thank you all for being my enablers!
I was alone and far away when I heard the band start playing!

...I was always a DeadHead, but when I first heard Winston Rodney, aka the Burning Spear, sing, I became a SpearHead too!

Forgot to mention that Jeff's bass playing was just blowing my mind all night. It's great that Ed acknowledges Mike Fucking McCready and Matt Fucking Cameron all the time, but he needs to send props out to Jeff and Stone more often. Just sayin'.
I escaped it...a life wasted...I'm never going back again
  • I was up in 210 with you, Row 15. Long distance from my 118 first night seats. Holy Vertigo Batman!!!

The energy for last night's show was much higher than Friday's.

I was shocked how good the sound was up there after I was told that it would not be by an usher when I asked on night one.

Tremendous pair of shows. Although I like the MSG 2010 Show 2 slightly more. I thought that version of Better Man was one of the most musical poignant moments I've ever been a part of. Last night's version was a close second.

No shit! I was row 15 too!

I was the tall guy with the Yankee hoodie sweater and the Beeker Tee shirt, next to my brother in law, the tall bald guy with our wives.

    :D
  • as always, they rocked the house, both nights!!! wish they were here for a 3rd, id go again!! Best band ever!!!!!!!
  • Barclays show was awesome brings backs memories of shaking the stage at MSG
never sounded better the soundboard people messed up with the sound at the end but still awesome
got 2 shows in CT<LA and seattle can't wait

I'm pretty sure my friend and I were sitting right next to you. I was the tall girl with glasses and a ponytail, she was in the PJ Alive shirt, and I believe she held a seat down for you guys to get back to your seats?

    Still processing the night. Wow.

I was on the train from LI and figured out some of my fellow concert-goers. Somehow kept seeing those faces throughout the night and then rode back with all of them too. The great unspoken community of the LIRR.

Attended the show with a newly made 10C friend and met through her some other 10Clubbers at the beer hall -If you read this, Denaz, thanks for the beer. Mel, it was a lot of fun hanging out with you. We'll do it again with better seats! Place was immensely crowded but good to get in the mood. Looking forward to the preparties in Charlottesville and Charlotte.

Got my tickets from a close friend I went to high school with twenty years ago and on the way in, she told me she was expecting twins in a few months! Totally good vibes getting ready for the show. :)

In the arena I randomly ran into my yoga instructor with whom I've fallen in love with when I met her three days ago ;) - different parts of the arena , but texting after the show on the way home was a nice ending.

Couldn't find the Brooklyn 2 shirts. Only down part of the night.

    I think I'm forgetting something...oh yeah...the BEST MOTHERFUCKING SHOW I'VE SEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!~

I don't know how the hell VA and NC will compare, but I'm ready to find out :D

Loss of words. Amazing, amazing, amazing. They're beginning to play so many great sets that I'm getting used to it. Sad I missed both nights, but glad you all had a great time!! :D
I've been fortunate enough to see Pearl Jam live.

I am hanging in the balance of a perfect finished plan
