the more i drown, the less chances i'll have of seeing them live again.
which is the lesser of two evils?
i love how on the hfx thread people can give opinions without having their heads ripped off. see how truthmonger gave his opinion and sward comes back, states politely that he has differing views and that is that! no nasty exchanges.
see, another reason why PJ should come back...people play so nicely on the board that we deserve a treat!
i'm grasping at straws now!
You make some really good points there Lanners...we ARE the cream of the crop of this board ;-)
i really need to NOT listen to Come Back at work. It makes me cry every time i listen to it! sheesh! i'm such a sap.
i'm also sorry if i'm coming off like Miss Merry Sunshine with all my hype and "we don't fight la la la." I re-read some old posts and man, i don't think i'd hang out with me if i met me. i think i would drive myself nuts. sometimes i just get excited and passionate about things and i get kind of animated and whatnot.
now...come to halifax or miss merry sunshine is gonna go POSTAL!!!
Now i have an even worse case of PJLIVE fever. Only cure is a hot live injection!
I am SO lucky i was able to listen to the Letterman show. There was a 7 sec visual display so i couldn't really watch it, but that was ok...the sound was incredible.
The letterman webcast was amazing....it's basically punching me in the face since I can't seem to find a show to make it to this year. Last year PJ did me a flavor by coming to Halifax..they knew that my wife and I just had a baby..so they took one for the team. Guess I just have to get her pregnant again to get em to come back.
You know, after I wrote that I thought: ah, maybe that was a bit harsh. Listened a couple more times and I'm warming up to it. That's not to say I'm freakin' over the album, b/c I'm not, but it is grabbing me a little more. Anyways, those were nothing more than first thoughts on something that I'll listen to many, many times over the next little while. And yes, I do think its cool that someone can share their thoughts here w/o getting slammed by someone else. A sign of maturity perhaps ?
Herre's another thought: I found myself liking PARTS of songs, rather than the songs in their entirety. Anyone else feel that way ? Also, I'm curious to see what they're going to do with this stuff live. I was listening to the album and wondering what they might do with this song or that song. There are possibilities - especially for Mike since he wasn't given much lattitude on the album, or so it seemed.
And Lanners, I'm sorry to hear of your drooling problem. I didn't know you were a drooler.
for me i was liking parts of marker in the sand and army reserve, especially the endings on both...now i'm starting to like both in their entirety...but i know what you mean truthmonger.

Wow, what's goin on here ? The Halifax thread has turned into a porn site, with people talking about "hot live injections" and dutiful procreation. By all means, sward, take one for the team ! Good thing that's not a team sport.
in the year 2007 pearl jam will return to halifax..
i will be there to celebrate
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
Halifax was too fun of a show. Had a ball driving down as well. Stopped a park in wentworth and smoked some and drank some and threw rocks in the water. All while listening to the Quebec City bootleg that we had been at 2 nights before.

sex sells! it caught your attention, didn't it?
i am loving the new Avocado skin for the Pit!
i will be even happier when they announce they are coming back this way sometime.
There's supposed to be an announcement next week for the 'Rock' portion of the Magnetic Hill concert series...and is supposed to be a big name...but who knows how big

only 'rock band' rumored to be there might be tom petty & thy heartbreakers, will never know.

the cab driver i had today told me it was Tom Petty and three other acts. i pushed him for more info but he couldn't remember. all he could talk about was how Willy Nelson had sold out the Aitken Centre and INXS has only sold half the tickets for their show Sunday night. Then he went on about Willy Nelson going golfing at Kingswood on Thursday.
I asked if the guy who had told him (he sells tickets for all the big shows) had mentioned Pearl Jam and the guy said he didn't think so.
Halifax was one of the best experiences of my PJ existance. Fans were great, S-K was awesome. Thanks Ten Club for great seats. Thank PJ for the great setlist and show. Thanks Halifax for Keiths and the beauty of Nova Scotia. Would trade my brothers right arm for another chance to return to Halifax.

Hate to burst anyone's bubble but I don't think the concert announcement on Mondday is for the "rock" show on the Hill. The announcement is going to be for a classic rock show that will take place in Shediac on July 2nd. The bands that will be playing are CCR, Steppenwolf and Foghat.
However, it did say in the Moncton newspaper this weekend that a show for the Hill will be announced early in the week if everything goes through. Failing this, there may not be a rock show on the Hill this year.
Also, there is going to be another classic rock show in New Brunswick but will be taking place in Woodstock on August 19th (same day as Country show at the Hill). Yet another group of washed up has-beens consisting of CCR, Lou Gramm of Foreigner and get this Survivor (think Eye of the Tiger).
For those who like their music a little more current there is the Festival of Lights concert in PEI. The line-up this year is supposed to be: The Tragically Hip, Sam Roberts, Matt Mayes and El Torpedo, and Joel Plaskett.
As far as Tom Petty coming to Moncton, chances are pretty slim as he only seems to tour exclusively within the States. Personally, I think it may end up being something like a Bon Jovi and Nickelback bill this year. I could be wrong but who knows. I know that Shediac had tried them but were too expensive for their blood. We'll just have to wait and see.
q104 & many other local radio stations here play them 24/7. the dj's that play their shit plays their singles every hour on the hour, it's insane man. don't they have a wide selection of cds/mp3's/vinyl's ?
when will the crtc, radio stations ... 'everybody' get it to their sick skull's that nickelback & theory of a dead man SUCK ... BIG TIME. only time will tell. .. IMO.

Nickleback and Theory of a Deadman aren't the same group? I thought they were the same, only one was the bad hair day version of the other.
I sat on pins and needles all morning waiting for the announcement and you were right, funkymonk, it was for the show in Shediac which doesn't interest me one bit.
I think i'll have to just accept that Wilco will be the only show i'll catch this summer and be done with hoping for anything else.
Papers today are talking about the Rolling Stones playing Halifax in September..actually the 23rd..a day later than PJ from last year. Interesting.
It will be interesting if Moncton gets a big show for the labor day weekend. Then we'll have another rocking September like last year. But alas..no PJ....hopefully someone I would still love to see. Saw the Stones last year and it was great..but Im not a huge fan..so I'm not sure I'd go this time around..but..it is in my backyard! ;-)
I'm still debating on catching PJ in Boston but I already have a few concerts lined up already (Radiohead, NIN, RHCP) that will require some travel so I'm not sure if I could swing it or not. The more I listen to the new album the more I try to convince myself.
That would be awesome if both Moncton and Halifax could manage to pull off some big shows this year. I was starting to get a little depressed hearing about the country concert, Dennis DeYoung and the has-been "classic" rock shows that were announced. By the way, the Dennis DeYoung show has been cancelled thankfully enough. Apparently, when the Junos were in Halifax one of the band members from the Black Eyed Peas were reported to say that they would be returning in August. Can't really say that I'm a fan though, well, maybe Fergie.
