You conveniently forgot to include the numbers of black Africans that were enslaved because they were born into slavery while the white Christians did not have their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and on and on enslaved.

What I find funny... yet disturbing... you refer to it as an 'Untold Story'... when, it is a part of History.
Me... I knew where that lyric, '... to the shores of Tripoli' comes from. It came when U.S. Naval/Land forces rescued American sea merchants that were captured by Barbary Corsairs. I learned that shit in High School.
What I later learned was that in wars with different religions, it was common for the victor to use captives as slaves... so, while those autonomous states of Algiers and Tunisia could enslave captured Christians, captured Muslims could be enslaved by their Christian masters... and it was okay for both sides to do so.
Also, you have failed to record that during that time period, the majority of slaves sold to the states of the Ottoman Empire were captives of Africa, Asia and Asia-minor. The 1.25 million white captives from the shoreline villages of Britian, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and France were taken by pirates (many of the pirates being from Britian, France, Holland and Spain) and sold to Barbary Coast states. That number is dwarfed by the number of non-Whites taken from Africa and Asia, many of those captured and sold by slave traders from European nations including the English and the Dutch.
So, once again... I beg you to look deeper than only those things you want to believe and discover the freedom that truth will bring you. The truth being... people are awful and do horrible, horrible things to people who are not like themselves. Maybe... if we stop looking for people to kill, we might make this place a bit nicer.

Then again, didn't you tell us that this subject was all you were taught for six years? Funny that after six years of being taught this subject that you still don't know anything about it.
Firstly, Africa isn't, and never was, a country. Secondly, before Europeans began colonizing West Africa the slave trade was largely consigned to East Africa, and was conducted by Arabs who controlled much of the area along the Horn of Africa, and transported them to the Middle East.
As for the Atlantic slave trade, this would never have occurred if Europeans hadn't begun flooding the interior of Africa with guns during the 16th-17th centuries and establishing trading routes into the interior, stoking tribal conflicts and then reaping the rewards. The majority of people sold as slaves were prisoners of war, and therefore outsiders to those doing the selling, a situation common in much of the World. And as for selling their own people, they were no more selling 'their own' than Europeans were 'killing their own' during the Holocaust.
Then again, so what? Does the fact that Africans played a part in this massive crime mean that you can wash your hands of it? Can the Nazis wash their hands of the holocaust due to the fact that some French played a part in it by rounding up and transporting Jews East to the concentration camps?

In many other areas of the world, including Africa, slavery was more similar to indentured servitude rather than the multi-generational slavery endorsed by many Americans, especially Christian Americans. Christian Americans who used the Bible to condone and support turning human beings into property. Not a proud part of American culture.

What I find funny... yet disturbing... you refer to it as an 'Untold Story'... when, it is a part of History.
Me... I knew where that lyric, '... to the shores of Tripoli' comes from. It came when U.S. Naval/Land forces rescued American sea merchants that were captured by Barbary Corsairs. I learned that shit in High School.
What I later learned was that in wars with different religions, it was common for the victor to use captives as slaves... so, while those autonomous states of Algiers and Tunisia could enslave captured Christians, captured Muslims could be enslaved by their Christian masters... and it was okay for both sides to do so.
Also, you have failed to record that during that time period, the majority of slaves sold to the states of the Ottoman Empire were captives of Africa, Asia and Asia-minor. The 1.25 million white captives from the shoreline villages of Britian, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and France were taken by pirates (many of the pirates being from Britian, France, Holland and Spain) and sold to Barbary Coast states. That number is dwarfed by the number of non-Whites taken from Africa and Asia, many of those captured and sold by slave traders from European nations including the English and the Dutch.
So, once again... I beg you to look deeper than only those things you want to believe and discover the freedom that truth will bring you. The truth being... people are awful and do horrible, horrible things to people who are not like themselves. Maybe... if we stop looking for people to kill, we might make this place a bit nicer.

Then again, didn't you tell us that this subject was all you were taught for six years? Funny that after six years of being taught this subject that you still don't know anything about it.
Firstly, Africa isn't, and never was, a country. Secondly, before Europeans began colonizing West Africa the slave trade was largely consigned to East Africa, and was conducted by Arabs who controlled much of the area along the Horn of Africa, and transported them to the Middle East.
As for the Atlantic slave trade, this would never have occurred if Europeans hadn't begun flooding the interior of Africa with guns during the 16th-17th centuries and establishing trading routes into the interior, stoking tribal conflicts and then reaping the rewards. The majority of people sold as slaves were prisoners of war, and therefore outsiders to those doing the selling, a situation common in much of the World. And as for selling their own people, they were no more selling 'their own' than Europeans were 'killing their own' during the Holocaust.
Then again, so what? Does the fact that Africans played a part in this massive crime mean that you can wash your hands of it? Can the Nazis wash their hands of the holocaust due to the fact that some French played a part in it by rounding up and transporting Jews East to the concentration camps?
