    I lived in the northeast for 25 years. I've been in the South for the past decade. I saw way more confederate flags (and racist people in general) in the northeast than ive ever seen here. I expected the opposite.

    Its a symbol used for hate nationwide. heritage or not it needed to come down in SC. Its disgusting. Im against the cleansing of most of civil war history tho. People are going overboard now. Theyre monuments of mistakes and progress.

    If Last-12 did make it up to Columbia, I wish him safe travels. It was a madhouse on the roads this morning, can only imagine it got worse closer to the lowering.

    No, I had to work yesterday. Plus, I'm over an hour an a half away from Columbia. I was fine watching it come down on the tv.

    This is a prime example of why some Americans seem to misunderstand the causes of the Civil War. If we can't look at our history, ALL of our history, and be honest about what happened and the intentions behind actions and decisions then we will never be able to move forward.

    narrow mindwd.... ummmmm, this is funny it's like the pot calling the kettle black, if one refuses to see or understand the views and opinions of others than wouldn't that person be "narrow minded as well" and he even uses the term "redneck" like it's a bad thing, I would say that one who uses these terms and words in a mannor to belittle another group of people most likely suffers from some form of mental disorder..maybe bi-polar or depression to some extent, it's just guess on my part but all the signs seem to be there.

    Funny how people assume all country stars- and especially their fans- are southern redneck conservatives. I've got close to 50 country LP's on my shelves- among others- Waylon, Willie, Johnny, Kris, Emmy Lou, Patsy, Dolly, even some Ernest Tubb (why not!). All great stuff.
