*meet-ups in ITALY!*

hey all....i REALLY want to arrange meet-ups for all our fellow boardies/fans in EVERY city in italy for the shows. i assume only after-show parties since i'd think people will either be sight-seeing and/or queuing up for the shows pre-show times, except for verona...so maybe that one city we can arrange for both.

now, many of the venues are NOT within the actual cities, but makes sense to have any post-parties in the respective city-limits since that's where most will be staying.

**edit - all SET! we now have spots for EVERY city/show! scroll down for the addition to pistoia. right on the square, so easy! also, set the pre-show meet-up time for verona to 4:30/16:30...seemed logical to make it a bit later. remember, it's the one city with assigned seating, no GA, so no worries about rushing in. ALL other show meet-up spots are for immediately following each show. leave the venue/show...make your way over to the meet-up spot. sure to meet many on the 10c line too!

*edit BIG thank you lgt!
what a lovely lovely jammer...who has put so MUCH effort into researching and finding up great meet-up spots, directions, etc.....sooo wonderful! so here we are - meet-ups set for everywhere except pistoia just now, but soon to follow. :)

also too...get the 'message pit' buttons so we can recognize each other!
http://forums.pearljam.com/showthread.php?t=211559

***all meet-up spots are for after-parties, post pearl jam show...except verona. for verona we have 2 spots picked for pre and post-parties.***

i live in milan...here is some helpful info...
to reach the forum you can take the green line metro to famagosta then a shuttle bus from famagosta(about 10 min. on bus).
on nights of shows there are special shuttle buses to return to famagosta after...however the metro closes at about 12.30 am. (the last train from famagosta leaves at 12.27)
don't get stuck there after this time, transportation becomes ultra difficult!!
a really cool place to go after the show would be "i navigli", which are canals lined by many bars, eateries, and tons of people hanging out...from famagosta, take the metro 2 stops to porta genova, and then a few minutes walk...also near to there is porta ticinese (columns of san lorenzo), another cool place to hang out late night...metro station san ambrogio and a short walk..
does anyone have change for a button??

Hi, if u want meet italian's pearl jam fans
on-line the site http://www.pjmagicbus.com --- also an english version :-)
    please visit us :-) thanks

This is the place for all the Pearl Jam fans that will follow the band during the next European tour. The heart of this venture is the PJ magic bus (nicknamed Strangest Tribe's Tour Bus in honour of the forum where this idea was born), a six beds camper that will be on the road during the whole Italian tour. The PJ magic bus is not only a "traveling house" for six Jammers, it's going to be the point of contact for the fans of the band from Seattle. A place where sipping a glass of good wine, listening to some music (live music, why not?), and getting ready for the band's performances, sharing feelings and impressions with each other.
The main goal of this website is to file stories, pics and thoughts of the fans during the European tour, with special care for the Italian gigs, of course. Our idea is to collect fresh impressions so to update the website "on the road", with your pics and comments concerning the shows.
Of course, while waiting, this website will allow us to know each other, get organized at our best and discuss on other parallel challenges.

Unfortunatly I have no idea what-so-ever about places to go/head to post gig, however the missus and myself are more than happy to tag along on any excursions to drinking establishments or eateries that are organised in a post-gig stylee. ;)

And for reference, just in case anyone wants to collar me at any of the gigs....
    This is me!
And I'll be wearing my Superreal road crew shirt to the first gig (look for crew in Huuuge red letters on the back ;) ...and of course I'll be wearing my msg pit button :)

Well seeing as most people here don't know much about Italy or where to meet perhaps we should have a thread like we did for Dublin where we post our names and cool places to go.
I suppose seeing as I suggested it I'll have to start it  :D

hey all, i HAVE a list of places for each city already...a fellow italian boardie was kind enough to provide mucho info to me via PMs. so yea....i just wanted other opinions...and since you're all as clueless as me :p...haha.....i'll just compile em all and post it, edit it into the first post of this thread. i think it's best/easiest to have a specific place to meet, and then we can take it from there. meet in some cafe/bar after each show....and after a while, we'll all recognize each other anyway....but just makes it much simplier if we all meet-up at a designated spot. i'll post within the next day or two.

also too...for verona we could do a preshow meet as well, since it's the one and only non-GA show of the lot. and, if anyone is around bologna on the 13th.....we could gather up that evening as well....i'll be there since the 12th. wooohoooo - 2 weeks!

Hey PJ fans who live in Italy....

What's the train schedule from Verona to Milan and Milan back to Verona???

check this link for your train journey (it's in English)

    http://orario.trenitalia.com/b2c/input_en.jsp?ar=0&stazin=Milano&stazout=Verona%20Porta%20Nuova&datag=16&datam=9&dataa=2006&timsh=1&timsm=0&lang=en&channel=tempi&solotreno=0

The Verona train station is called Porta Nuova. The main station in Milan is Stazione Centrale (MI C.LE in the link). Journey time varies according to whether you take a fast train, IC (intercity) or ES (espresso) - 1hr 22/35 - or a local train (IR), 1 hr 55 mins.

As you can see the train times are very frequent.

Let me know if you require further help! :)

    Hy!
someone can find some information about the youth hostels in Italy on the following link:

    http://www.ostellionline.org/regioni.php?action=gotoregione&regione=09

You can select the city or the italian region you want to stay and check.
In Toscan, for Pistoia concert, you can also look for some nice agriturisms. Toscan region is full of them.

It's also possible to visit the italian cities' official web site to find the maps ( there are english version!). If you need the links , please ask!!!!!
    See you soon!

I plan on coming to Milan for the 17/9 gig, I'd love to meet you all!

The thing is my return flight leaves at 7:30 the next morning, so I'll have to be at Malpenza airport at 6:30 at latest.

Since I won't have a hotel room, is there a place you could recommend (bar, restaurant, cafeteria) for me to crash after Le Biciclette closes? If not, is it safe to walk to the centre? (i don't think the metro is open that late)

You can take the first train to Malpensa from Cadorna metro/train station at 4.20am. Check this link (first column on the left for the timetable from Milan Cadorna):

    http://www.ferrovienord.it/webmxp/ing/frame-orari-ing.htm

Cadorna is one stop in the Green Line M2 (which is the same for the Forum Assago and Sant'Ambrogio, the stop for Le Biciclette)

    Map of Milan Metro:
    http://urbanrail.net/eu/mil/milano.htm

In the meantime, you could hang out in other venues (bars/cafes) to kill time, as it were. I'll ask my friend in Milan which will be the most suitable ones in the area.

Le Biciclette is in the Navigli area of Milan, which West of the city centre (the Duomo Square).
