Well that was kind of the mother of all shows. Kanya was amazing. I wish he could have played more. :corn:

Kanye killed my ears. I'm not saying that it was a bad performance, it was just so loud it felt like a rifle being continuously fired next to my eardrum. So, I couldn't tell you if it was good or not since I stood out in the hallway trying to stop the ringing in my ears before the next act.

Saw Chris Cornell and Ben Shepherd do five acoustic songs at 98.7's Hollywood Tower Penthouse last week. Before that, it was Coachella.

Ok first of all this was my first Sunfest Festival that turned in RAINFEST. I mean it poured prior to the band taking the stage, I'm glad I wore some of my most ragged clothes and rain coat.

As for the show here is the setlist....

    Quasar
    Cherub Rock
    Bullet With Butterfly Wings
    The Celestials
    Space Oddity
    (David Bowie cover)
    X.Y.U.
    Disarm
    Tonite Reprise
    Tonight, Tonight
    Oceania
    Pale Horse
    Ava Adore
    Zero
    Stand Inside Your Love
    United States

    Encore:
    Today

I must say I almost rewetted myself when they played Space Oddity one of my favorite ALLTIME songs...THAT made the show for me. Then near the end they played United States....10 plus minutes of pure rock and a drummers pure workout. Arms needed a break for the encore after that blistering ripping song. Very nice for my first Smashing P show even though I would have preferred more songs from the Zeitgiest album.

    Peace

^^^^^you know I honestly don't know I was in the middle of the crowd and I really wasn't focused on who was playing and who wasn't i focused on the music. Besides I'm not that intimate of knowledge about the band. I just started really listening to them on the zeitgeist album and worked my way backwards from there. I do have Oceania too but I haven't warmed up to it as yet.

GuP! Glad you enjoyed it!I was there too! :D
I live 2 miles due south of the festival and me and the wife put on bathing suits and rode bikes
It wasnt too bad until we left. We had ponchos, but I decided not to wear mine, and just ride my bike in the rain like a 12 year old.

I thought it was a great show too. I loved hearing disarm and Oceania.. and Space Oddity was an amazing surprise. I mentioned in another thread that I was impressed with the new musicians in the band. Billy Corgan, the lead singer, is the only original member, but the other new players fill in nicely. That drummer was sick!

I just wish I couldve heard DROWN. Its my favorite Pumkpins song, (off the Singles Soundtrack) Its a great 5 minute tune, but the last 3-4 minutes is weird feedabck: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Mn-3EqaO0E

1983 Billy Squier/Emotions in Motion with Def Leppard/Pyromania as the opener. Followed that up with the Scorpions/Blackout and Quiet Riot/Mental Health opening. Think tix were around $11 - $14!

Shinedown & Bush last night at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield MA. Took my 9 year old - he's a HUGE Shinedown fan. Excellent show. I never saw Bush "back in the day" - they were very good. Gavin certainly didn't act like the opening act - he carried hmself like they were headlining Wembley Stadium.

Touche! Don't know how my mind mixed in 'last' with 'first?!' Must finish coffee. Won't even mention my last since it was a freebie at a smaller club.

This will be the first time I've seen them as well. It would be cool if they cover Space Oddity in Atlanta. Thanks for the review.

I cant see him every going back to play with Billy again. Billy wrote all the guitar parts and just told James what to play. That would get old for someone as talented as Iha.
