Last one I saw was Bon Jovi about 2 weeks ago. It was pretty solid. Before that stand-up with Tracy Morgan - TERRIBLE!! I think Lady Gaga before that, again solid. The list goes on and one.......I know Lady Gaga does not belong on the PJ site. O'well.

Eric Clapton, really great show. Last of the US leg, so it was kind of special.

Pearl Jam and the rappers at Made in America last Labor Day weekend. Thinking hard, but I don't think there's been anything since.

OH YES! No Code in various places, New Hope, Philly, etc. Cannot forget that! Do those count? They've got PJ music and beer, good enough for me :)

promise me you wont make fun   :?: ...

but, i took the wifey to Kid Rock 2 weeks ago...

it was a last minute idea...tix were only $30 bucks...
(my wife absolutely loves last minute/spurr of the moment drinking plans...LOL.. ;);) )

And to be honest...prolly why we're still together after 2 kids and 20 years with each other ;) ...

called her at work on a friday right after lunch,,,(knowing she'd be so ready to have some drinks after a long week at work :fp:  )...

Also had a good idea some friends of ours/hers would have a suite at the hilton which is connected to the Arena... which they did, and it made for a great nite of drinking followed by a night of some fairly entertaining musical acts  ...

Ok now,...you promised you wouldn't crack :nono: :nono:

My last gig was Glen Hansard & The Frames at the Sydney Opera House in March.

That was the last show for me of a fabulous month - 8 shows, 4 cities, 2 countries, 3 weeks(almost as good as 8 concerts, 6 cities, 6 countries on the PJ Europe tour last year)!!!
25/3/13 Glen Hansard & The Frames at the Sydney Opera House
24/3/13 Bruce Springsteen, Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
23/3/13 Glen Hansard & The Frames, Melbourne Recital Hall, Melbourne
21/3/13 Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Vector Arena, Auckland
19/3/13 Neil Young & Crazy Horse, TSB Arena, Wellington
13/3/13 Glen Hansard & The Frames, Auckland Town Hall, Auckland
    5/3/13 Dinosaur Jr, Powerstation, Auckland
4/3/13 Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Kings Arms Tavern, Auckland

& then also this last summer I had:
26/2/13 Stone Roses, Vector Arena, Auckland
22/2/13 Cat Power, Bruce Mason Centre, Auckland
5/2/13 Bailterspace, Kings Arms Tavern, Auckland
28/1/13 Laneway Festival(Bat for Lashes, Bailterspace + many others), Silo Park, Auckland
16/1/13 Band of Horses, Powerstation, Auckland

Sorry, I don't mean to sound like I'm showing off I've just had a great day at Record Store Day today so am amped on that right now & also just can't quite believe what a fab summer I've had for concerts!! :)

Oh & as for stories, I swear Neil's concerts will be 2 of the best of my life!! Holy grail material there for me!!

+ good story was, went to Melbourne to see Glen, he welcomed a guest to the stage that turned out to be Jake Clemons(Clarence's nephew) & said something about "Clarence's Boss being in town" ie THE BOSS & so ketray2412 from here who I was with & I looked at each other like WTF & the next day went along to Bruce's gig to see if we could score tickets & got FAB 7th row, right beside the stage tix, AU$212.50 value for AU$50 each!!!! :o:D &&& the money went to charity! Someone's friends couldn't go at the last minute so a woman had given their tix to a charity collector to sell!! Very cool!! && the show was excellent of course. :D

Saw The Steepwater Band last night in Milwaukee. Well worth the 2.5 hour drive from GB. The guys were on fire like usual. Opening act was Magic Box who were great. The two guitarists from Magic Box came on stage with TSB for a cover of Neil Youngs Like a Hurricane. It was Epic! Four amazing guitarist all taking turns ripping off 5 minute solos to one of the best Neil songs. I wish I had a video or pic. Four Les Pauls blasting at once, it was loud. 8-)

I was talking to Ed from Magic Box after the show. I mentioned the Like a Hurricane and he talked about what huge Neil Young fan he was. I agreed and brought up PJ. His eyes lit up. They are from Chicago and he told me he wasn't a huge PJ fan just casual. He went to PJ20 the first night to write a review for... something. He said he was told how great they were live and he was like... they better blow me away. He said they he was completely blown away beyond his expectations and then some. I tried talking him into going to Wrigley, wasn't sure if he could make it though. SUPER cool down to earth guy.

    It was a great night.

Black Crowes at 9:30 Club a week and a half ago, an incredible time and one of the best shows I've ever been to. God damn they are a fireball of a live act!

  • The last concert I went to was Green Day in Toronto on April 11 (originally on January 29 due to Billie Joe Armstrong being in rehab). Great show, even though they didn't play Good Riddance (Time of Your Life). Over two hours of music and Billie Joe sounded great. It was more like a club concert, but in an arena.

Before Green Day, I saw Muse on April 10 and that too was a great concert. Great production and visuals and great performance as well. The one thing I was most surprised of this show was the fact that it ended just after 10:00 PM. And no, they didn't cut their set short: opening act Biffy Clyro took the stage at 7:00 PM and played for 40 minutes. Muse were to take the stage at 8:15 PM, but started five minutes later than scheduled and played for 100 minutes.

Counting Crows at Sydney Opera House. As is sometimes the case in Sydney, great show but the crowd can get shitty if "the hits" aren't played :( The whole set was broadcast on Youtube and can be seen here http://youtu.be/Xi1XocOR5EA (it starts about 10 minutes in).

Also in the last month or so I've seen Wilco, also at the Opera House, Neil & The Horse, Cat Power and Kiss

Lol, my brother saw them in Milwaukee right when Mr Jones was breaking. It was the only single they had I think at the time. They didnt play it the whole night and then after the last song Adam Duritz said "You dont always get what you want" and walked off. My brother was pissed. I thought it was awesome. :D Of course I wasnt there though.

Nick Cave at Coachella, last Sunday (Apr 21st). Blew my mind away (as expected), but I was definitely left wanting more. 50 minutes is just not enough. Everyone around me had NO idea who he was (I was at the rail, towards the right end of the stage). He put on one heck of a show, and so did the band. The choir of kids for Jubilee Street and Push the Sky Away, was also a nice touch. All time classics like Stagger Lee, Mercy Seat, From her to eternity, Jack the Ripper, Deanna and Red Right Hand were brilliant and explosive.

I decided to end Coachella then and there, since nothing would top Mr. Cave and the Bad Seeds, in my opinion, and also because I had to drive back home (4 hours) and work the next morning. But mostly because I knew they were the highlight.
