Counting Crows at Sydney Opera House. As is sometimes the case in Sydney, great show but the crowd can get shitty if "the hits" aren't played :( The whole set was broadcast on Youtube and can be seen here (it starts about 10 minutes in).

Lol, my brother saw them in Milwaukee right when Mr Jones was breaking. It was the only single they had I think at the time. They didnt play it the whole night and then after the last song Adam Duritz said "You dont always get what you want" and walked off. My brother was pissed. I thought it was awesome. :D Of course I wasnt there though.

Saw Counting Crows last night in Manchester (UK). Having seen the setlists from this Australian/European tour they've not played Mr Jones at all. I'm fine with that, didn't even hear any complaints that they hadn't played it last night. They have enough strong non-single material to get away with that these days imo.
    Manchester 17.8.09, Manchester 21.6.12, Copenhagen 10.7.12, Manchester 28.7.12 (EV), Phoenix 19.11.13, San Diego 21.11.13, LA 23.11.13, LA 24.11.13, Vienna 25.6.14, Leeds 8.7.14, London 6.6.17 (EV), London 18.6.18, Krakow 3.7.18, London 17.7.18, Dublin 3.7.19 (EV)

Definitely, now. It takes balls not to play it when its your only hit single at the time though. :D

Nick Cave at Coachella, last Sunday (Apr 21st). Blew my mind away (as expected), but I was definitely left wanting more. 50 minutes is just not enough. Everyone around me had NO idea who he was (I was at the rail, towards the right end of the stage). He put on one heck of a show, and so did the band. The choir of kids for Jubilee Street and Push the Sky Away, was also a nice touch. All time classics like Stagger Lee, Mercy Seat, From her to eternity, Jack the Ripper, Deanna and Red Right Hand were brilliant and explosive.

I decided to end Coachella then and there, since nothing would top Mr. Cave and the Bad Seeds, in my opinion, and also because I had to drive back home (4 hours) and work the next morning. But mostly because I knew they were the highlight.
 Sounds fabulous!! I'm so jealous! I wish he would do some shows here in NZ.

Maybe when he is done with Europe? He is touring all over the place there. Makes me want to live in Europe, where you can basically hop on a train and get anywhere.
I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream...
If I knew where it was I would take you there.

I also saw Counting Crows this week in London. Not a bad show by any means, and parts of it were great, but I just wish Adam would stick to the damn melody sometimes. I know it's just his way, and I certainly don't mind some ad-libs, but often it just kills the flow of the song, I was really struck by the lack of crowd sing-alongs during the show, presumably because nobody knew Adam's new melodies!

Oh, and someone needs to tell them that Holiday In Spain is a REALLY shit song to finish on.

Adam has always done that and that is why I have never had a strong desire to see them live. I love the first two albums. Bought Hard Candy and that was the last album, just kind of faded for me. Anyway, I always hated how he sang the songs live. I don't get it. You have beautiful melodies and you fuck them up on purpose on EVERY SONG. It comes off as lazy to me.

Yeah it is a shame because he was actually in really fine voice too so could have really done the songs justice.

Completely agree with both of you. I get that things are going to sound different in concert, but he screws with every song.

Charles Bradley in Pensacola last night. Wow is all I can say about that show. He is a true performer down to his soul. I'm not much for dancing at shows (because I'm tall, white, and can't dance  ) but I was moving the whole show with a smile on my face. Definitely in my top 10 shows of all time, hell, it's probably in my top 5.

Hmmm, maybe, hopefully although you'd think they would have jumped over here for a couple of shows while they did Oz. I'll keep my fingers crossed!!smiley_goodluck_yellow.gif

Last night my brother and I saw the first show of the Alice In Chains tour at the Miami Beach Fillmore. It was a great show, combining some new songs with a lot of their great stuff from the 90's. The highlight for me was Jerry and William singing together and how happy they seemed to be on tour again. Don't miss this show, I think it will just get better as they continue.

Soundgarden. What a total disaster that was. :( And unfortunately that is probably it until Wrigley as I attempt to save $$$. I wish that last one had been better!

The sound was royalty fucked. Muddled guitars, couldn't really hear the vocals. Sound crew screwed up and never fixed it. Plus, the curtain at the back of the stage was malfunctioning for the whole show, slowly opening and closing over the backdrop screen. :fp:
