Not sure i want an on the job test though when so many lives are at stake here.

wouldn't they probably have been blown to shit if the US gov't didn't have full faith in its ability to shoot the rockets down?
No. The US doesn't take blowing the shit out of N. Korea - a country that China likes to side with when they want to try and scare people - lightly. N. Korea is going to actually have to bomb something for the US to do anything other than chest pounding.

I would agree, except that Obama is not your typical Dem POTUS.

He's not really afraid to bomb shit. From what I've read, the POTUS went against all his top advisors and Biden about putting troops on the groud to get UBL.

If N. Korea keeps it up, I can fully see Obama taking it up a notch.
    Peace, Love.

I would not connect what he did then and what's going on in any way, shape, or form. Obama is not afraid to take action perhaps, but he doesn't act rashly. Obama is not going to just go and bomb the shit out of N. Korea without an attack by them.

Are these maniacs just puffing up their chests (or "dick waving", as George Carlin used to say) or are they really going to fire? What madness this is.

(CNN) -- North Korea has raised at least one missile into its upright firing position, feeding concerns that a launch is imminent, a U.S. official told CNN Thursday.

This comes as the world continued to keep watch for a possible missile launch by the secretive government, and a day before U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to arrive in the region.

In the latest daily tough talk from the North, a government agency is quoted by the state-run media as saying that "war can break out any moment."

In the latest daily tough talk from the North, a government agency is quoted by the state-run media as saying that "war can break out any moment."

Life is generally continuing as normal in the region, however, despite the North's barrage of recent threats, which have included warnings to foreigners on the peninsula about their safety in the event of conflict,
South Koreans, who have experienced decades of North Korean rage and posturing -- and occasional localized attacks -- have gone about their daily business without alarm.

"South Korea has been living under such threats from the past, and we are always prepared for it," South Korean Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl-jae told CNN Wednesday. He called the current climate "a very ordinary situation."

Tourist visits to the North appear not to have been significantly affected by the situation. China says that while some tour groups have canceled trips, the border between the two countries is still operating normally.

They were both guys who had murdered people and witnessed torture by the age of 9. And a whole lot of other crazy shit. Plus, they loll in luxury and are lauded as supreme beings in the midst of poverty and oppression (them being the god-sent oppressors). That's how Kim Jong Il was raised, and that's how Jr. was raised too. They were/are both absolute psychopaths. Assuming this guy is going to be logical is a mistake.

ok, so what do we have here?

A new young leader a year into his lifeterm.
A new Chinese leader in the first year of his 10 year term.
A new S Korean leader in the first year of her term.
A new Japanese leader in the first year of his term.
A newly Re-elected US leader in the first year of his second term.

Young UN is posturing and I think his balls are dropping, as well as being advised by the old guard military , who I have heard has had a wave of retirements of the old generals.

I belive to ignore him would be worse than our saber rattling in the short term.

    Interesting times , indeed.

i dream in graphic detail on heroin & opium smuggling up & down river deltas, seas, mountains or jungle

no wars i wanna eat some good korean food. can ppl in korea get high?

I saw the brick breaking one before but never saw the air force or navy clips before. wwII jets & wwII battleships? those gunboats are tiny & are firing bb guns. these folks may not even know what kind of ships & bomber or fighter jets we have. they truly may be living in the dark ages as they very well could be uninformed

dudes, your ships are blowing trails of diesel smoke. the u.s. navy uses nuclear powdered ships & submarines. are jets are 4 times as quick as yours & the list goes on.

    Agreed

One of the comments on youtube was something to the effect of "those ships are going to be target practice if it comes down to it".

I certainly hope that it does not.

How on earth do we turn N.K. on to the idea of peace? It won't happen for them unless the people overthrow their crazy leaders. But using violence to gain peace seems contradictory. No easy answers.

    I don't know... I don't think anyone knows.

There needs to be a revolution and I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. It just blows my mind that the people are that indoctrinated.

if its all they've known and all they've ever seen how would they know theres an alternative? imo there needs to be serious dialogue with the NK govt. we need to find out what it is they want... what they need. why they feel the need to be freaking people out. they also need to be told that we can help them and that we are prepared to work with them but that but there is a line and we wont just hand over everything they require if we aren't going to get some rock solid assurances in return. introduce them to the concept of quid pro quo.

North Korea behaves the way it does for 2 very clear reasons

    to extort cash
    and
    to extort food

They've done it before, they're doing it now, and will do it again

If they want food or water, sure. That can be bartered. Better yet, we can teach them to farm properly and make their own food if that is an issue.

I certainly hope we wouldn't ever sell them weapons...

The kid needs to calm the fuck down first and then I say we can talk to them. Right now, I'd rather ignore them. Kim Un isn't stupid enough to launch a nuke, in my opinion. I see this as nothing more than trying to get attention.

there is no question of ever selling them weapons. that is counter productive, and quite possibly very destructive for everyone involved. sanctions don't work because the NK govt simply uses that to show their people just how 'evil' the rest of the world(and certain countries) are. kim jong-un has sat at the knee of his father probably since birth, so his actions are reflective of that myopic world. the issue isn't about whether or not they can produce their own food. they could if they wanted.... if it were allowed. but it plays more into the govts propaganda if they are deprived and the finger for such depravation be pointed at an outside source. it is sad the people are cut off so effectively from the outside world and equally sad that all they hear and know is what is approved by their govt. I don't really have the answers cause growing up in the country that I have ive never been deprived, nor censored, nor been afraid of saying anything I wanted anytime I wanted to say it and ive never feared my govts retribution... so its easy for me to speak about what I think the issue is with nth korea. and I wish that everyone everywhere had that same level of freedom. and I agree with you that kim jung-un isn't foolish enough to actually launch any nukes cause I have no doubt he knows exactly what will happen if he does.
