    16. Philadelphia Phillies: JP Crawford | SS, Lakewood (Calif.) HS

Crawford was considered by most to be the best shortstop prospect in this class, and a player that most believe will stick at the position despite only average speed. With very little in the system in terms of middle-infield, Crawford has a great chance to be the Jimmy Rollins heir apparent by probably around 2015. -- Crawford

Not sure what the advanced stats say, but as far as I can tell this team's defense really blows.

while the uneducated fans (not coincidentally, the same ones who still defend the unproductive, fat ass 1B) were saying how much they 'loved' the delmon young signing, those with a clue were bitching about amaro cutting this guy (and keeping turds like mayberry, nix, signing d young).

this team blows. amaro and manuel should have been canned years ago. sadly, the phils have morphed into the pre-hinkie sixers. As fans it's gonna be a long time before we see meaningful games in philly. nice work rube, ya douche.

Don't want you guys to fall into the annual trap when the phils go on a 'run' vs bad teams.

Philadelphia is 14-5 with a plus-30 run differential against the Mets and Marlins, and 17-27 with a minus-63 run differential against every other team this season.

This team needs a new direction. And I don't think it'll happen until it's too late.

i feel like someone points this out to you every year: here is the 2008 phils winning % vs above and below .500 teams (above on right):

    2008 Phillies .686 .482

this team isn't winning a world series but all average to good/great teams beat up on the bad ones and struggle more against the better teams. this is nothing new. past champs records in same scenario:

    2010 Giants .714 .426
    2009 Yankees .691 .566
    2008 Phillies .686 .482
    2007 Red Sox .676 .517
    2006 Cardinals .557 .440
    2005 White Sox .742 .510
    2004 Red Sox .698 .567
    2003 Marlins .638 .484
    2002 Angels .743 .451
    2001 D-backs .655 .494

So we had one glaring weakness last year and it's still the same problem. Our bullpen is poop! They're making Qualls look good.
    Alright, alright, alright!

we have the only bullpen in the league where our lefties can't get left handed hitters out. Bastardo is killing this team.

    nice win.

yeah it was. I have Papelbon on my fantasy team and while I wasn't about to get too down about the blown save (it was just his first all year), I was very happy to see him bailed out and get the cheap win. The Summer of Dom rolls on I guess.

watching howard run the bases is almost as bad as watching vick attempt to read a defense. that play at 3rd last night almost cost them the game.

David Murphy is great. Refreshing to have someone write the truth about this team...brookover and salisbury are a joke. Good read...amaro is the worst

Franco promoted to Reading. Good shit...looks like they now have 2 potential position prospects (along with quinn), pre 2013 draft. too early to tell if tocci can be something, even though he's having a decent year based on age and level.
