Hey, pretty sure I'm going to stay at the Hyatt. Just curious what people are getting for a price.

The best I can find is for about 165-170 a night.

Is this the best price or are others getting it for cheaper?

If your getting it for cheaper where did you get it from?

    Thanks

Whatever rates you find on the website, if you or one of your people are a AAA member, use that discount. It will be cheaper.

I'm at the Hyatt at well, 18-21st! You can put my name down, Chris.

If you are coming from Midway or O'Hare, you can take the L from the airport to the hotel area. I would only do this if you are carrying a small bag with you though. If you have a ton of luggage, a shuttle or cab would be the best bet.
40+ shows, it is never enough!

Any thoughts on the Acme Hotel Company? We have a group of 9 of us that booked there right away just to make sure we have a decent place. We also bought a 3 day pass for the cta on Groupon for $9. Plan on taking the train to the show. As I'm sure most will do.

I'm booked at the Hyatt for now - hotels.com $179/night + fees brought it up to about $622 for 3 nights. I booked to secure a spot at this place since it seems like where the party is at :D but I haven't gotten tickets yet so I don't want to commit to anything 'non-refundable' until I do. If I DO score tix though, I'll call the hotel directly for that AAA rate or try to 'Name my own Price' lol

I hope to meet some ten clubbers :D

And it's my first time in Chicago!!

Whoa. If you have a reservation at the Hyatt and got a decent rate back when the lottery just started, fyi, adding an extra night is suddenly crazy expensive. I added a night because my flight was way cheaper that way (for some fucking reason), and that last night is nearly double the original rate for the room I booked! It completely wiped put the savings on the flight. I made the mistake of assuming they'd honour the rate I already had for one more night .... But I'm glad to have an extra day in Chi-Town so I can check more of it out. :)

Oh yeah... I looked tonight thru my work discount page and the best I could get was around $250-260 a night. Sucks to be me for waiting too long, but there are places closer to the red line for considerably less and just as nice.

Wanted to get the room yesterday at the Hyatt :fp: . My travel buddy didn't get back to me again although I spent a 1/2 hr helping him get a great flight price. Now the cost to stay at the Hyatt is too high  . It's lucky for him "he" has the GA tickets or else I'd be pissed  . I guess priceline is going to decide where we're staying now.

So if you want to lock in a refundable rate so you don't have to worry go for it, but plan on getting better rates as it gets closer.....

Looking at what other people are saying in the thread, there is no way I would stay at the Days Inn in Lincoln Park.

Good luck, and like tickets the prices will come down.
I would not bank on this. I have been in the hotel business for over 15 years. Downtown and O'Hare. Chicago sells out on the weekends. Especially in the summer. I would book your room now and still continue to look. Because they are forecasting high occupancy this summer and the rates will go up if they are seeing compression.

    Just remember.

    1) Like in anything you pay for what you get. If you are paying $60 say hello to some bed bugs.
    2) Parking is gold downtown so you will pay for that. Book no in and out because you can get to everything via Public transportation once you’re in the city or walk.
    3) Watch out for book early and save rates and advance purchase rates because you cannot cancel. Once you booked it you are locked in and they will not give in.

Me personally do not have a problem getting my hotel room but have no ticket to the show. I'll be there damn it!!!

If you are going to purchase through Groupon, be sure to go through Ebates first as you will get another 3% back from Ebates. It's not much, but every little bit helps!

Waited too long to book the extra night. Looks like two nights downtown and a night by one of the airports.

Which is probably a smart move, financially, on the liver, for the hangover etc...

As someone in the biz, does an event at Wrigley with perhaps 15,000 out-of-towners really impact hotel demand in such a huge city?

    Hey there,

I'm staying at the Hyatt, but before I booked I was doing some Hotwire looking. After seeing how much the Hyatt prices have increased, I checked again, and there is still a really good result on Hotwire, for a little bit less than what the Hyatt was going for.

If you search for July 18-July 21 (seems like that is what a lot of people are doing) there is a 4.5* Michigan Ave/River North result for $151. It has a 95% approval rating--I am *pretty* sure this is the James Hotel. There is another similar result that has 85% approval rating, and I think this is the Intercontinental.

Either way, a good deal, for people who are still looking. :)

thanks...I usually like haveing a diversion during tax season, so finding flights/hotels for Chicago will be it this season! Last tax season, I was planning my PJ in Amsterdam / Stones Roses in Manchester trip, so that was a bit more involved!

Try using priceline.com and name your own price. I did it this morning and got the Palmer House Hilton for $130 a night. Don't pay full price for hotels!!
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...

If you are thinking about trying out priceline or hotwire you can visit this site to get an idea about what you might end up with.

    http://www.betterbidding.com/

I have used the site before and used the techniques discussed in order to try to work your bid up if need be without the risk of ending up in a dump.

    Good Luck.

And on a Friday night in July there will be at least a few dozen weddings/rehearsal dinners going on. Plenty of reasons for out of towners to be in town.
