I stayed at my twin's near Baltimore as where I live near DC always has power outages. The DC/Baltimore areas were not hit as hard as expected although there are still downed trees, outages. Most businesses will reopen on Wednesday.
My brother and nephew are volunteer firefighters in NJ. This morning he e-mailed that he spent six hours at 10 homes with downed trees last night. One person was hurt, but not seriously. I hope he is ok, still. I can't seem to contact my other sister in NJ. I'm still worried about my NJ family.
My good thoughts go to those in NYC and NJ and any other places catastrophically hit. If the images do the damage justice, I hope you get relief as soon as possible. :(

Glad to hear most of us on the east coast managed to be ok. Thanks for the update on Andrew J, I tried contacting him to no avail. Me moving out to Cali can't come fast enough!!! Figured I'd get one hell of a good bye storm from Mother Nature!!! Now I'm gonna go back to dodging earthquakes......

Fallen tree on New Haven Green unearths human skeleton
NEW HAVEN – Talk about an eerie Halloween story. Hurricane turned Superstorm Sandy toppled a majestic old oak on the Upper Green and intertwined in the dirt and roots was a human skeleton.
Police were called, as was the state medical examiner.
But there was no horror story to be told.
The very old bones likely are centuries old dating back to when the Green was used as a cemetery during colonial times until the Grove Street cemetery was chartered in 1797. There remain an estimated 5,000 people buried under the Green.
The tree toppled sometime during the evening on Monday during high winds from the hurricane. On Tuesday, a passerby noticed something unusual. It looked like human bones. She contacted police.
By Tuesday afternoon, police were there in number and had contacted the medical examiner.
Finding human bones isn’t that uncommon in the city but it often does draw a crowd.
Last year, workers discovered several skeletal remains while excavating for an addition at Yale-New Haven Hospital on York Street. Tony Griego, a retired police sergeant, security guard at Y-NH and local historian, said the site where the bones were found is the location of an old cemetery used by the city’s first Catholic church.

A lot of towns near me have postponed trick-or-treating for the weekend. The kids will be able to better enjoy it
ours is rescheduled for saturday, november 3rd...
in other news, sea isle residents are still not able to get onto the island yet i feel like they got the least news coverage than the other towns down there and they're still in the dark about the damage to their homes. pretty upsetting....
Out of power since 6pm Monday Night here in Farmingdale,NY....most of the people I know also without. My sister and her fiance live right on the water in Freeport(near nautical mile, LONG BEACH AVE) and their place is completely Fucked :( Water must have come 3 ft high or more....Deck which was part of the bulkhead and 30 ft long ended up down the street on someones lawn. It stinks in their place, and they actually rent from her fiance's parents while the main house is currently on the market.....I presume it will stay on longer as it will take a long, long time to fix this mess.
Furniture was completely moved inside the main house, just a disaster. Her fiance wanted to stay during the storm like he did with Irene....glad my sister was able to talk some sense into him. I drove there at around 2pm yesterday and the streets were still flooded....Military helicopters patrolling the sky.
Traffic lights are out all over, trees snapped onto main roads and houses.....I've never seen it this bad
