Set List

01. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
02. Corduroy
03. Do The Evolution
04. Got Some

Ed says "this is about the coziest place we have played since I can remember. Nice place you got here Jeff Ament." He goes on to say that it is "great to be literally surrounded by friends and family and senators. We get asked to do these a lot but it is hard to find one with a politician we can get behind. Because of certain legalities we can't have him on the stage but there he is in 201. Hello Jon. He at least gets to be at his party." Ed thanks Jon for doing a great job and dedicates the next song to him.

05. Given To Fly
06. Amongst The Waves
07. Severed Hand
08. Unthought Known
09. Not For You
10. State Of Love And Trust
11. Jeremy

(Ed starts saying that the next song they are going to play was written by Jeff and it doesn't get played much but there is a line at the end of the song that is part of reason why the are playing it tonight. He then discusses the candidate on the other side that said something about the 47% of people that are living off the government. "He makes it seem that those people are never gonna do anything and just collect food stamps all their life. I don't think those people want to go into a grocery store and pay with food stamps. It isn't a point of pride for them. A guy who thinks like that doesn't represent or relate to half of the country. Probably more like 1%…." I don't think this other candidate, and you know who he is has ever experienced the terror of walking the tight rope and just getting by. And the last line of this song 'Ghost' is "Bring It On Because I'm No Victim")

12. Ghost
13. Daughter/Blitzkrieg Bop-(Ramones) [changes line to 'Hey Ho-Let's Vote']

(Boom gets up on his riser after 'Daughter' and the crowd starts shouting "Booooooooommmm". Ed says let me explain to Jon and his wife Sharla, they aren't booing. Ladies and gentleman Mr. Boom Gasper" Ed then compliments the University and wishes he was smart enough to go to college because it looks like a great place to attend. He also talks about waking up not feeling well and took advantage of the sauna at the school. He talks about how some people are just way too comfortable and how one person in particular seemed extremely comfortable "he was siting on a perfectly good towel and everything was just…out. I started to worry that he was gonna ask me to autograph it and then there would be the awkward moment when I would just be able to initialize it. But maybe like a good party trick I would end up being able to fit "don't forget to vote' on it.)

14. Know Your Rights-(Jones, Strummer)
15. Comatose
16. Why Go

Encore Break 1

(Ed apologizes for taking longer to come back from the encore break. We were trying to figure what to play next and you guys are so loud I got a terrible headache. I had to take about eight aspirin. I am all good now so make all the noise you want. In order to keep everything equal we are gonna play a song for those in the back)

17. Last Kiss-(Cochran)

(I'm not saying this to placate but it is nice to see not only the American flag but the Montana flag as well. This one is for Jeff's friends who are now our friends. It's called "Off He Goes")

{the band plays the next few songs seated on chairs}

18. Off He Goes
19. Low Light

(Ed asks, "you guys okay if we stay in 'campfire' mode for just a little bit?")

20. Man Of The Hour
21. Nothingman

{The band stands up for the next song}

22. Better Man/Save It For Later-(Charley, Cox, Morton, Steele, Wakeling) [during the "Save It" tag Ed says "We'll dedicate this one to Jon Tester, the better man."]

Encore Break 2

(Jeff comes on stage and says, "I want to thank Jon and Sharla and everybody working so hard for them and I want to thank the band for this and I don't think I have ever done this but I want to thank my mom and dad. I love you and thanks so much." Ed says "I want to thank Jeff's parents too because without him we wouldn't be here.")

23. Wasted Reprise
24. Life Wasted

(Ed says, "just one more thing, can we talk about the vote? can we talk about the vote? Jon talks about two things, there is the money and there is the shoe leather. This election is one of two elections that will determine what happens in the house and whether we can get anything done. So get out and support a great senator")

25. Fortunate Son-(John Fogerty)
26. Alive

(during 'Alive' at one point Ed goes to the upstage area and waves at the people there and bashes a few times on the cocktail drum kit)

(Ed says, "this is gonna be a hell of bootleg and wouldn't be complete with Mark Arm and Steve Turner from Mudhoney coming up here and playing with us". When it appears that Mark is going to sing on Ed's mic Ed says "Hey, he's gotta have his own mic I want him to be able to talk to tomorrow". This is reference to how sick Ed is and him not wanting to get Mark sick by using the same mic. Mark ends up singing on Stone's mic)

27. Kick Out The Jams-(Davis, Kramer, Smith, Thompson, Tyner) {with Mark Arm and Steve Turner of Mudhoney}

28. Rockin' In The Free World-(Young)

{during the break down Ed says "Look at you, look at you…chicken skin brudda, chicken skin..) Chicken skin is reference to getting "goosebumps" because of an emotional reaction.}

(Ed says, "Thank you Montana, Thank you from the band and the crew, and they know it's true when I say this is the best American crowd we have played for since I don't know when." He thanks Jon Tester and encourages the audience to go out and vote.)

29. Indifference

(Ed addresses a young person in the audience and jokes "you and me are gonna go down and get you a voter ID…No, but someday you are going to be able to go out and vote."

The Adams Center is about as big as I thought. Not a big place like the United Center, but it was not like a small theater that Eddie will tour, a very cozy place. I could not find a bad seat in the house.

I thank everyone in Missoula for making this trip a good and memorable one. The fans were very cool and easy to talk to and get along with. There were so many songs I had not heard live before in person, so it was very enjoyable to have an opportunity to hear those songs. Ironically, there were two females who were sitting next to me and they left during Life Wasted, not sure why though.

Hopefully during the next US tour, I'll see some and meet more of you all. Until next time.

Ha! No pic or video edved, but I definitely saw ed handing off some wine to a lucky soul in the front row, must have been you!

Awesome show and an AWESOME venue. Missoula has been treating us quite nicely!

The setlist tells 2% of the story. This show was so much better than it looks from afar. People, we like a very, very good band.

The venue was great - fantastic sound! And yes, the floor felt tiny! I feel SO lucky to have seen PJ at this venue!! Planted my self around 6 -8 deep in front of Mike - had the side rail to stand on so got a great view!
Mud Honey rocked it; really impressed!
Mike was incredible. This being my first show, i didn't realize how cool it is to watch him up close! I got the eye contact and point from him.
So, some were saying they wanted more rarities, and I get that, but I didn't give a shit - it's my first show! Everything they played was my first time! Crowd was GREAT. Ed said it was the best crowd they've had in the US for he didn't know how long, and he said he got goosebumps.
You could tell Ed was feeling sick, but he actually sounded really great until Indifference, when he started losing his voice. Show would have been longer, but I think his cold was going downhill fast (I know how you feel Ed, being so sick myself right now, but actually I felt way BETTER once PJ started; my cold went away totally for the show! Like magic! Anyway, they had friends and family (including Jeff's parents and other family members of the band's) in the VIP section, so I'm sure they were sorry ed couldn't go longer.
The big talk about the naked dude in the university gym's sauna today (ed was trying to beat the cold), and about signing his dick was pretty funny.

Interesting point: Jon Tester took off halfway through the show!!!!

So it being my first time, I was thrilled with every song (except last kiss - blurrp), and I had a FANTASTIC TIME WITH A FANTASTIC CROWD! I count myself so lucky to have have been so close for my first show.

    This was a GREAT show!!!

It was pretty fucking hot in that place though. Soaked in sweat.

Hope you feel better soon Ed!

Wow! Venue was so small with, so few people and yet so loud! The crowd was great. Very cozy venue, turned out to be a great set list, I was a little worried 4 songs in, but the little acoustic encore was a highlight. First time sitting on Mike's side. He just killed it all night...so entertaining to watch! I almost forgot there were others on the stage. As usual, the show ended well before I was ready for it! The first encore...amazing. We stayed at an amazing bed and breakfast and hung out with some great fans that were staying there for the weekend. Great craft brews were drank, compliments of the B&B. So glad we made the trip to Montana.

Picked up the meet-and-greet tickets on Saturday to discover I was given tickets in section 209, and after being told nothing could be done for me I received a text from a Tester staffer late last night telling me to stop by again this afternoon in order to trade for tickets in section 109.

The meet-and-greet couldn't have gone any smoother. The band members (everyone minus Ed) were initially not going to take photographs with the guests or even sign autographs but as soon as they began to work the room and mingle it was instantly apparent that the fans were all very respectful and friendly and laid back which clearly made the band members feel safe, for lack of a better word, because they were more than happy to both sign and pose. I couldn't help but tease Jeff about having more of his picks produced because they were incredibly hard for a collector to obtain, and he got a big laugh out of that. Stone and Matt were both gracious enough to sign my Benaroya Hall LP cover, thereby achieving my goal to have the entire band sign it.

Oh, and free food & drinks.

I can't say enough great things about the city of Missoula, MT and its' inhabitants. From the moment the plane landed and that unmistakable smokey haze/air filled my lungs I was treated to some of the friendliest people I've ever met. Never hassled once, just nothing but friendly attitudes and laid-back easygoing folks. Unreal. The venue is as tiny as they say, yet as cozy as Ed touched on early on in the set. It wasn't so much the songs played tonight as it was the band's energy and feeding off the crowd's energy. Mike took his insanity to an entirely new level tonight, and in 16+ years of touring behind them I've never seen Stone as happy and animated. Ed's banter about the sauna and random penis was funny, and personal highlights included Comatose, Ghost, DTE, Amongst The Waves, and Fortunate Son.

Maybe my hearing's starting to go after my 55th PJ show tonight, but I could swear there were moments where I couldn't hear Ed's vocals and/or the guitars overwhelmed his vocal channel. Come to think of it there were also moments I couldn't hear Mike's guitar as his channel seemed to be turned down. Regardless, a great night had by all. The entire crowd was respectful and pleasant to one another, and the show was worth the effort to attend.

The setlist needs to be edited as Low light was also played seated. Which was a great song as it was written by Mr. Ament. The show was great. Highlights were the four song acoustic set, Why Go, Fortunate Son, RITFW and Indifference ending the show. Jeff talking was also a highlight as he was very humbled, Eddie not as much as he was somewhat hypocritical in his rants. Jeff's mother was rocking out. As far as GA, I felt waiting in line was kind of a waste as I was close for Mudhoney and the sound was distorted but when I moved back PJ sounded great. The people on the floor were very polite and all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Great venue!!

This was my 12th show. Maybe not the best set looking at it now, but that was the tightest performance I've seen. Very very tight and heavy.

After PJ20, I wasn't sure how any regular show could compare. But this was amazing, the small venue was perfect. And I loved seeing Jeff talk, what a great time for him. They really looked like they were having fun. So many songs I love.
    I win.

The show was way, way bigger than the setlist. It was one of those nights where the energy was phenomenal and constantly growing off itself.

  • An absolutely fantastic show! I was behind the stage and had a great view. It is fun to watch the communication between the band members as the are playing from this angle. After Indifference, I could see Eddie ask Jeff if they should do one more. So I kept waiting for someone to pick up their guitar. I just did not want this night to end!

marathon of a weekend...security and staff there great

Lots of waiting in line with great fun people...GA breeds a bit of tension, but tried to keep everything in perspective...

    MUDHONEY
like the jams and crude creativity

    Small Town...expected but still great
Jeremy...never think i want to hear Jeremy, but when they played it it's awesome
Off He Goes seated and mellow was a highlight (EV tossed me a pick...sweeeet)
Low Light (seated and chill version; just what I needed to survive GA) GRRRRRRREAT
Ghost (we need moooorrrre Jeff stuff on new album please) WOW
Severed Hand (cool 'trippy' light show) AWESOME
Kick Up the Jams...Mark was beating the crap out of Mike...literally...my head was about to explode

leaving stuff out, but still need to digest all that happend

MIKE was a complete FREEEEEAAAAK...chanelling the innerpunk...he was bouncing off the stage like a trampoline (as usual) ;diving all over the place(unusual)...I think he has taken the FTM...total PUNK (haircut to heart)
VERY NICE to see Jeff get lots of attention & recognition for all he does for PJ

    Fantastic
  • Did anybody else love Fortunate Son? CCR means a lot to me so it might have been highly subjective but I thought it was great.

Got back to Calgary about an hour ago and I still can't get over how awesome this show was. 5th time seeing the band and easily my favourite show. Honestly, having seen Indifference live I could die happy now.

Great show, well worth 16 hours of driving in 2 days.

This. Definitely the highlight of the show. Also loved Fortunate Son.
