Hmm... accommodation reserved - a nice cheap 'hotel' in earls court

why is hotel in quotes missus ????
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Ok well I'm sure OFFICIALLY it's a hotel but hotel rooms don't usually have their own kitchenette, do they?

And frankly, I'm quite surprised at the lack of ensuite rooms in London  well we managed to get some but you have to be careful apparently or you could be sharing a toilet with the whole floor

That was one I NEARLY booked cos I can remember a night or two in Callaghans and I think it was a pretty good pub but then I read some of the customer comments and thought 'nah'. Although I was scared off nearly every place I went to book by the comments. We found the Exhibition Court Hotel in Earls court - ever hear of it?

We also nearly booked this place:

    http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g186338-d192150-Reviews-Kensington_Edwardian_Hotel-London_England.html

cos it was cheap but after reading some of the comments

They were pretty entertaining and all but seriously... I got more and more annoyed by people saying this place needs to be reported to the police/fire authorities/tourist bureau/etc. and thinking why don't YOU report it? Cos they were ALL saying it. They make you pay upfront for whatever amount of nights you're staying and they refuse refunds if you won't stay there cos of the standards. There were reports of semen on the walls, blood stains on the beds, people having to call the police cos the manager would not refund them the locksmith THEY had to call to get into their room, etc  It almost turned me off going to London at all :o

I was lucky enough to win free tickets for the gig....I got an email today from the 10c. This is an extract from it....

"The box office at the venue will open at 6:30pm. Pearl Jam will play
    around
8:00pm. There is no support act for this show and there will be tight
security, so please allow enough time for your arrival"

So I guess PJ will play around 2 hours, as there is a club night after the gig (unless they have arranged a late start - hopefully).

how long do PJ normally play for - anyone?

I think it would be a good idea for us to arrange some way of sharing our photos/videos from this gig (come on, you GOTTA take a camera!)

Looking forward to meeting you all soon

then june 1st 2000 came along and they once again kicked frickin

cos it was cheap but after reading some of the comments

i only know about the hotel i mentioned above... i stayed there once (in 1998 i think?) and they had fire alarms EVERY DAY and made everyone leave the building... nothing ever happed though...
then i was walking past the hotel some time last year and - guess what? - there were some pissed off firemen around because they apparently aren't able to sort out their broken smoke detectors...

uhh, and i remember that you had to call the reception before you could use the one shower for the entire floor...

:o oh my god, how do they get away with such shite? In that example I posted - they were giving people the SAME excuse for 5 years as to why there was no tv in the rooms (there was a power surge the night previously) - every night for 5 years? I doubt it! Also, the elevator was permenantly 'temporarily' out of order

But it reminds me of an Irish comedian who takes the piss out of English people cos they actually evacuate when there's a fire alarm - Irish people just get slightly annoyed at the noise :D

i wonder why they stress tight security?
it might be difficult to get in our cameras...

but it's also the perfect show for them to shoot another live DVD...

we might "only" get a 2h gig as there's G.A.Y. nightclub afterwards... or they might just play the entire new album start to finish and then leave... but i doubt it ;)

anyway, i say ed pre-set at the royal george :D

IF the astoria staff is informed that taping for personal use is ok with the band...
and i have my serious doubts...

    but here's a trick i used before...
if you carry a bag they will double check everything in there but almost never check your pockets... leave the bag at the cloak room and take your recorder out of your pants :D
