Assuming you're totally correct on this-- and who am I to say you're not?-- isn't a band first about the music? We had a similar discussion on the Paul Westerberg site- a lot of people are pissed that he only puts out stuff very sporadically and not in the format some would like and doesn't connect much with fans any more- but the general consensus is that we were lucky to have PW/Replacements music when we did and figure he doesn't really owe us a thing. We don't own the band.

Yes it is all about the music. No doubt! I guess I'm being selfish and would like to see PJ tour more and give back to their fans a little more. Really it's been one year and no PJ20 boots yet? to me that is ridiculous and a joke. I've been chasing Wash since my first show in 96 and I finally got it it night 2. it was a magical night for me. I don't know where I'm going with this but all I know when I am pumped about a Phish show I know it will be available to me when I wake up in the morning.
What I think is that it would be so much better if you went to the Phish fan club and talked about how great you think they are instead of coming here and using it as a statement about how PJ isn't as good. That would just be a much more positive and enjoyable experience for everyone including yourself, no? :) The route you seem to have chosen so far is just a downer for everyone. It's like going to a great restaurant where everyone is enjoying their food, it's their favorite place, and spouting off about how this other place down the street makes the delicious food everyone has in their mouth seem like dog shit by comparison.
You know what I do. And PJ gets mad respect on Phish boards because they realize how influential PJ has been over the years...even though it might not be their cup of tea. Unlike this place, where if you dare say how another band might be better or do things differently than PJ you get attacked. Phish has been around 30 years and has a die hard following!! Respect that if you like the music or not!!

Oh man, you fucked up the quoting.
No one's attacking Phish (that video was a joke and hilarious), so I don't know why you're saying that... do you go to the Phish website and talk about how you're not happy with how they do things and that some other band is way better?? I bet if you did, the reaction would be similar to the one you're getting here (which is not, I don't think, attacks on you... more like subtle suggestions that your negative crap is very unproductive and unwanted on a FAN forum.

  • So all I have to do is agree with you, for you to stop talking about Phish.

Clearly Phish is on a different level than PJ. I've always thought that Phish was the greatest band since The Beatles. If Phish doesn't show up on every single living human beings Ipod, they should be shot. Phish shows come cheaper than an Atlantic City blowjob. Phish is bigger then Whale. God created Phish to be better than Pearl Jam. I hope I get Phish for Christmas.

    Will you shut up now??

Bdog I have no problem with Phish but I think you are comparing 2 very different bands. If Pearl Jam's only fanbase was based here in america then you would have an argument, but they have fanbases all over the world where as phish only plays here in the states

Hey BDog, what is this bubble you're talking about? We're all here because we love PJ... somehow you've translated this into us not liking or appreciating any other band? What in the hell are you talking about? Just don't come to fan sites and trash the band it's a fan site for or go off about how some other band is way better. It doesn't take a genius to understand why that doesn't necessarily go over too well here or on any other fan site. Sheeeesh.

Alzo, I disagree with you - PJ and 10C is awesome and fulfill me completely as a fan. So there's that.

I just fucking hate Phish and most jam bands in general.

    This has been fun.
  • I was really hoping for a US tour this year or shows that I could get to, but It gives me more time to save for more shows when they do....and hopefully with a new album.

I really liked the three last albums and the fact that they are not sticking to any particular sound other than the sweet sounds of PJ. I love No Code, but don't want it 9 more times....It is perfect where it stands. Being close to their ages, I can relate to the new stuff and like how they have grown....in fact , that is one of the thing I love most about these guys....I am not a pissed off teenager anymore, I am a pissed off adult ;)

Oh and I may not be hung like John Holmes, but have produced four great kids

Way I see it, is they try too hard to please everyone, and they end up never really pleasing anyone.

Also they all have families children etc, as a brand new Dad that changes EVERYTHING

Maybe they want to see the world on their own schedule, not a world tour schedule.

I agree I scratch my head at time, but has this band EVER done things in a regular and rational way?

Enjoy what we get, when we get it, and be happy. Anything after 20 years is fucking gravy as far as I am concerned
