And remember, they are pushing 50, most of them do stuff beside Pearl Jam, which make it very hard to please everybody in the world. They should do what they like, I would hate to attend a concert where the band only is on stage because they feel obligated to.0 -
The internet in general has produced a group of people who expect direct feedback from artists, celebrities, sports stars, etc who 15 years ago were never accessible to 'normal folk'. The end result is the now generation. A band does a set, 20 minutes later it is on youtube and has 200 comments. They are good, they aren't good, they aren't as good as before, they are selling out.... No band today is ever going to make everyone's wishlist of demands. I think that has a lot to do with why PJ isn't all over social media. They aren't the Kardashians and thank god for that.
When I heard Ed was hurt and not doing the tour I was pleasantly surprised to hear he just moved it to the fall. That meant a lot to me and I'm sure many others. He could have just said screw it let's cancel, but he didn't. You play with nerve damage and overdo it you can get irreversible damage.
While many bands from the 90s just faded away I am damn thrilled my favorite one is still kicking ass. With that said, I do respect your opinion and can see where you are coming from. We can't expect a band that has been around for this long to go 100mph all the time.

Thanks for your input it makes sense....i still love the band..just miss them live. Im in my mid thirties and going to festivals is just not the same as when i was 20. Also i lost 300 dollars in airfare after solo tour was rescheduled. I am happy he rescheduled, because it did open up seats that were currenlty unavailable.

so your grammer police? your a silly human being if that is the only feedback you can bring to a conversation.
Whats the point of trolling forum to just crack on people? Do you really think i care about grammer or spelling on a forum?...lol Now if i was at work writing a test script or presenting a business proposal, that would something to knock me down for...lol anyway...just disagree and engage in the conversation.0 -
PearlJammer623 wrote:I was just reading all the posts on the forum, and there is such a negative tone.
I am starting feel the same way about the band. I been with them since 94. It just seems they never tour the states anymore and are out for the money , for example ...playing only festivals or doing just Europe and South America. South America is a money grad for any band ( specially less popular or irrelevant bands).
Then ed cancels American solo tour, cause of his back, but then goes on a European tour soon after? im not doubting he was hurt,,but seems strange. Also alot of people lost money on that deal, with airfare, hotels..ect.
The 2011 xmas package comes in 2013?
The band never comes on the forum or participates in anything , unless they want u to help them with a cause or to buy their stuff.
The last 3 records were ok, but very few moments that inspired you emotionally. Don't be a super fan...and really be honest with yourself.... You might agree.
One thing i do think is positive=The fan club admins, are always very nice and interactive. They do the best they can for us, and i respect then for it.
Thanks god there are new bands lke the Avett Brothers.... That truely inspire and love their fans.
Ok attack me now..
It seems like you do want to set a negative tone, and yes, you are the only one who has complaints about the band. That's why this deserved it's own thread.0 -

well actually alot of people emailed me privately and some agreed publicly on the thread to some issues, not all of them. Again i was just venting and was corrected on a few of my statements. I think what set me off was not being able to watch the MIA pearl jam set. SOmehow that was the only segment blocked, which is weird, because Jay Z is more populare than Pearl Jam, and his set was available to view.
Anyway im all done venting....things are not so bad..i got 4 ed shows coming to my backyard in december.
Would much rather see the whole band though, but hey i cant complain.0 -
For someone who didn't want to set a negative tone, you sure did a good job of it. :fp:
PJ should tour when they feel like touring. What's right for them is right for me.
I can't believe you complained about Ed postponing his tour due to injury, and called it cancelled, and questioned the validity of his reason for postponing.
I think it would be fucking weird if they came onto the forum and started chatting with us. God knows I wouldn't want them seeing what some people have to say around here. :fp: And why would anyone expect PJ to do shit like other bands, especially ones that have only bee. around for a little while?? They are their own band, and they do what they want, and I love them for it.
If they had sold out they wouldn't be so fucking amazing.
I love all of their albums, and know lots of others do too, but even if they do 't that's not their fault, since music is all about personal taste. So a couple of their many don't suit you - I see no reason for this to be criticized as though it makes them wrong somehow.
Wow, wish I had enough money to spend it on fan club membership fees for bands I don't even love!

Hey, we are all allowed to vent, but you have to understand the manner in which you write things, may put people off. You make things sound like they are objective "truths", when they are in fact opinions. (And having some people write to you that they agree with you, well, there are what a few thousand fans in this forum aren't there? This is not necessarily an excellent accomplishment.)
A few corrections though:
- Ed spoke about his injury during the PJ shows in Europe and I had the impression that it still bothered him - so there is nothing here to make light of. And I believe he postponed his solo shows and didn't cancel them, which is different. (And which you ironically confirm yourself.)
- Me for one liked Backspacer; to be honest I thought it was better than ST or RA; but then again that is an opinion. When it comes to music there is no such thing as an "universal truth". Sometimes you dig the music, sometimes you don't and sometimes you go seperate ways - nothing wrong with that...
- What bothers me in your post though is this whole US thing. So PJ played only some festivals in the US this year and last. So what? They only play Europe every few years and South America and Australia even less... (I wont even mention Asia.) And some of these concerts in Europe are in fact festivals. European fans don't complain about this, Australian fans don't complain, so why do a minority of US fans seem the need to do so every single year or month. Think of it this way: you have the chance to see EV four times this year. Four times! That my dear friend is a privilege and not a right... A privilege some European fans would (metaphorically) die for...
No comment on penis sizes. Might loose that debate.

I have no problem with the venting- it's better than keeping it in and blowing a gasket. But I will say that after 20 years any band should pretty much be given a lot of slack for how they go about their business. Neil Young certainly sets the example that way. I'm just glad they're still around to do it. A number of great bands never made it that far."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

my only problem with the band is that they don't tour down south anymore. But I deal with it, I love to travel to new places, so in the end I guess it really isn't a problem. I'm so sick of people on here comparing how PJ treats their fans here in the states to DMB and you compared them to the Avett Brothers who I have never heard but I'm pretty sure they are one of those hippie bands. The difference between Pearl Jam and hippie bands is their is a HUGE demand for Pearl Jam outside of the US. Yes Pearl Jam does play where the money is, I will never doubt that. Yes it frustrates me that everytime they play a show now, I have to fly and take time off of work....but its my decision. Atleast they are still around and play, we as fans should be more grateful for that alone.9/4/98, 8/4/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/15/03, 4/16/03, 4/19/03, 4/25/03, 4/26/03, 4/28/03, 4/29/03, 4/30/03, 7/8/03, 7/9/03, 9/28/04, 9/29/04, 10/6/04, 9/1/05, 9/2/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/27/06, 5/28/06, 5/30/06, 6/1/06, 6/3/06, 8/5/07, 6/11/08, 6/12/08, 6/14/08, 6/16/08, 6/24/08, 6/25/080
